What was the last movie you watched and how would you rate it?

  • Heretic
Watched the MST3K riff of a "movie" (since about half or so of it was stock footage) called "Lost Continent". It was the fourth movie by whatever studio did it they did during the second season of the show and all of them were similar along the lines of being really low budget, loaded with stock footage and really slow paced.

    Highlights:
    1. Actually trying to pretend that an iguana represented a T-rex.
    2. Seeing frame-by-frame stock footage animal battles that I'd seen before in a previous MST3K film.
    3. The concept that a trip to some mysterious planet would be undergone by four scientists...without a single astronaut on board.
    4. At the end of the movie, the characters escape after setting off an atom bomb to ward off the "dinosaurs". The main guy, as they leave, made a comment about how they brought civilization to planet Nova. Yes, going to a primitive planet and bombing the shit out of prehistoric lifeforms definitely is an admirable goal...lol.

Currently watching Godfather II for the second time. It's a well made movie but I just can't get into it like I can the original.

Better than the original in my opinion.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
They are equally great IMO, the second one has a more complex plot, and the time switch made it harder to digest the narrative. One one day I'd go with the first one, on another the second one. But they are both fantastically well produced movies.

    The third one.....well...

    The Bourne Legacy - 6/10.

    Oblivion - 3/10, fucking terrible.

Own the trilogy, have watched 1 & 2 each over 15 times I'd say.

    Have never watched 3

Same, all the parts showing Vito making it in America are just awesome plus Pacino is incredible as the Don

I think the 3rd one was an ok movie by itself, but it gets shit on because how much better/great the first two are.

Well, it did get nominated for an Oscar for best picture, the main problems I had with it were

    - Sofia Coppola, the acting
    - the plot, which was even more confusing than the second one
    - Pacino, too long in between films. He went from young Pacino like Godfather I and II, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, etc. to old Pacino in his Hoo-ah! form.

    Finally got around to watching

Django Unchained - not bad movie though I liked Inglorious Basterds more. 6/10

Bad Grandpa - 5/10, average. Liked the jackass parts, didn't like the this-movie-has-a-message shit. Leave that to Adam Sandler

Devils Pass - 2/10. Shit horror movie based on the Dyatlov Pass Incident and somehow linked to the Philadelphia experiment (???). Had a couple jump moments but that's about it

Did watch Ender's Game. 6/10. It is ok, it didn't totally work for me but it isn't terrible.

i liked enders game because the book was one of my favorites...if i had not read the book i can see how someone would not like it or wouldnt catch everything that was going on. i think that easily could have been split into two movies

I think the fact that I read the book made me hate the movie. Normally I try to be lenient about the changes directors have to make to make a book into a movie. But there was so much unnecessarily changed crap that really impacts the story.

I love the book, thought the movie was awful.
