Many years ago in Perrysburg I volunteered with the Police and Fire dept. ....

Those experiences along with my military background is why I hold firm to being prepared, secure the area, causes and be as self-reliant as possible.

question in your experiences .... Do you want the population to be better prepare for disaster then many are presently?
Sure, most people could probably do a better job of preparing for disasters. But probably not tornadoes. Tornadoes are very short-lived events and rarely immobilize you. There really isn't much prep for a tornado other than a radio and flashlights. It's more about awareness of the weather so you can take cover.

Now, there are other disasters that you make some good points in regards to being prepared, such as blizzards. But I can't think of one local weather event that would make me think I needed to be armed to protect my house. Not here anyway.

Because in Ohio, moving a bunch of shit down to the basement every single time there's a hint of a possible bad storm means you'd be spending more time moving stuff into and out of the basement than doing anything else.
who said anything about moving everything down the basement every single storm...? It's a decision based on information and severity, half the time I'm still load up my clips and the storm blows passed

To me, law enforcement enforcing a curfew is quite a but different than me feeling the need to protect my house with guns after an event. My focus would still be elsewhere. Doesn't mean you can't conceal carry or something, but that would be the extent of it.

That's the only thing to be concerned with. He obviously wasn't thinking clearly when he said they had to get out of the house because it may not be structurally sound. You have to stand pat and guard your trashed belonging from looters. I hope he came to his senses.

Get ready for a nasty cold front to come through!

Belly is all your valuables still in the basement and do you recommend fingerless gloves to shoot with when it gets cold?
