I thought it was the ignorant redneck types who were supporting the program/Reno.

Do you think a team should continue to run their entire offense(passing, counters, screen, draw, trick plays, etc) when they're up 60-0? Treat the other team like a 'worthy adversary' and score 120 points? Maybe more.
Entire playbook ... eh, that depends on what you mean. Standard playbook, sure. Basically, I'd say anything you'd run on your first drive of the game should be fair game. If you're running fakes and such, then I'd find it hard to believe you weren't trying to be dickish at that point. I'd be okay with it being more than just the absolute base playbook, though.

Playing football regardless of the score, however, is not.

I think a distinction should be drawn between "running up the score" and "scoring a lot of points." Two teams could score 80 points and given up zero, but I don't think that necessarily means they were running up the score. One could have been doing things like going for the first down on fourth down, faking punts or field goals, onside kicking, trick plays on offense. The other could have been just running their standard offense all game, maybe getting some second-stringers in after half (or maybe not, even).

Same scores, but I think the latter team is in the clear. The former ... yeah, that'd be poor sportsmanship.

You had to say it, didn't you?
Heretic;1534333 wrote:Yeah..."people" are twisting this into Big Red. You brought them up, so don't cry because other people think it's funny that you're trying to spin Steuby as a paragon of how football should be.
    Reps for "paragon."

Seriously, you're an idiot, and by your use of the term "faaggoott" or whatever, it seems you're a bigot as well. Congratulations. You are a real-life example of what people caricaturize about Steubenville. Good job.

Also, taking a knee when you're up by that much isn't some special way of showing sportsmanship. Now shut the hell up, already.

As for Trimble, stay classy. You'll get yours next week vs CCHS
Pick6;1533074 wrote:OVAC > TVC. If you somehow manage to get by CCHS, Shadyside will get you. Take it to the bank.

Yeah, because it is soooo uncommon for kids to lose control over their emotions during their last game ever.

lol. I was thinking of bumping it as well. Trimble must be an exception to the norm, because those Southern Ohio teams sucked balls when I played. Congrats and good luck to them.
