Idaho Teacher Fired Over Facebook Photo

I'm not the person that called another person's wife a bitch, because we don't post strange photos of ourselves on social media. Perhaps we are strange but not any of our FB friends ever posted a photo like that.WebFire;1532601 wrote:Sounds a bit uptight to me. -

Nobody cared that I called your wife a bitch(other than you).Manhattan Buckeye;1532603 wrote:I'm not the person that called another person's wife a bitch, because we don't post strange photos of ourselves on social media. She legitimately sounds uptight. Divorcing you for posting a bikini photo? Strong love you two have. -
Manhattan BuckeyeBecause no one should listen to you.

I don't know MB from Adam, but to be quite honest that was an asshole thing to say.hasbeen;1532593 wrote:sounds like your wife is a bitch and your relationship sucks.
Calling a poster's wife a bitch is uncalled for. -
Manhattan BuckeyeI've got the thick skin to handle it...I'm just curious if all of these people have bikini photos of their wives, why aren't they posting them here?

Pick6Wouldn't call MB's wife a "bitch", but I cant say I'm surprised somebody else did with the way he portrayed her. Divorce for touching inappropriately?

Not touching inappropriately but posting a pick of him touching breast publicly on the internet. I have no idea what Mrs. MB does for a living but as you can see these types of things can have consequences on one's career. That could be a problem.Pick6;1532675 wrote:Divorce for touching inappropriately?
My wife would be very pissed if I posted something like that on Facebook. She would likely not divorce me but her trust in me and my judgement would definitely be shaken. -

This. I wouldn't call her a bitch, but definitely seems uptight. This isn't 1950 anymore.WebFire;1532601 wrote:Sounds a bit uptight to me. -

Then post a picture of your wife/significant other here. Most people don't post pictures of your hand on your SO's boob on public sites.GoChiefs;1532679 wrote:This. I wouldn't call her a bitch, but definitely seems uptight. This isn't 1950 anymore. -

I would have zero problems posting a picture of me touching my wife's boob on Facebook, and she wouldn't give a shit either.Manhattan Buckeye;1532683 wrote:Then post a picture of your wife/significant other here. Most people don't post pictures of your hand on your SO's boob on public sites. -
Manhattan BuckeyeWell, we don't. And we wouldn't want someone else to post a photo of us without our permission that even remotely involved sexual touching.

Dr Winston O'BoogieManhattan is making a reasonable point. As an employee or teacher or similar, you exercise judgement about what your colleagues or students see of you. You don't get drunk around them, you don't dress stupidly around them and you don't provide them personal pictures like thsi. Fair's got nothing to do with it.

A) without the picture, there's no proof as grounds for termination (not that it matters with at-will employees, but most employers won't act without evidence)pmoney25;1532528 wrote:So people seeing you do that in public in real time is not bad, but posting a picture of it would be?
B) there are perhaps only a few dozen people who see you do that in public, but posting a picture on line enables everyone to witness it
It's comically sad that this is even a debate. There appears to be an incorrectable level of ignorance with respect to professional conduct - again, not about what is right or what is fair but what is expected. -

I mentioned multiple times I have no issue with the firing because the school can do what they want. I understand professional conduct. The debate moved on to the type of people who would report this or be offended. Also people who say it is immoral or inappropriate but do similar things.gut;1532713 wrote:A) without the picture, there's no proof as grounds for termination (not that it matters with at-will employees, but most employers won't act without evidence)

Based on the quote of yours I responded to, it was not clear the debate had moved on nor that you understood professional conduct (as indicated by you asking the question in the firs tplace). Perhaps you had an epiphany in the past 7 hours, for which I congratulate you. -

My question had nothing to do with professional conduct. It was just a question asking if he did those things in public and it being ok because no one took a picture.gut;1532734 wrote:Oh, MY APOLOGIES.

TexasDeckThere is nothing wrong with the picture, so what if her boyfriend was able to grope her. These kids see things worse then that on tv, on the internet and most likely at school between other students. I think this was caused by some uptight parent who sits home watching soap opera shows all day, dreaming about someone doing the same to them.

That's how he portrayed her. Maybe next time I'll be more 'nice' and say uptight.jmog;1532668 wrote:I don't know MB from Adam, but to be quite honest that was an asshole thing to say.

Trust and judgement would be shaken? If I posted a picture like that, not a single fuck would be given. Not by my lady. Not by my family on FB. Not by my friends on FB. Mainly because we're not a bunch of proper tools.majorspark;1532677 wrote:Not touching inappropriately but posting a pick of him touching breast publicly on the internet. In other words, people "proper tools" typically consider to be trash.hasbeen;1532884 wrote: Mainly because we're not a bunch of proper tools. -

You consider the picture originally posted as trash? If that's the case, then fuck your standards. -

Then I don't know why you'd ask the question...you seem to be implying that the picture is irrelevant, which just seems naive at best.pmoney25;1532741 wrote:My question had nothing to do with professional conduct. It's not equivalent because context and audience matters, which the picture has the potential to alter. -

No, POSTING that photo for the world to see is typically the sort of thing expected of tacky, crude white-trash.hasbeen;1532903 wrote:You consider the picture originally posted as trash? If that's the case, then fuck your standards. -
