  Lithium Ion battery capacity starts diminishing shortly after they're manufactured, regardless of the charge on the battery. The rate of decline depends on a lot of factors, especially heat and the rate of consumption of the energy in the battery.
  
  A battery kept in a laptop at 100% all of the time would probably diminish ~20% over a year, depending of course on the temperature of the battery.
  
  What it boils down to is to just plug your phone in if you think you'll need the juice.
  
  I just charge my phone when I go to bed. If I hit it hard throughout the day or I happen to be going out at night, I'll toss it on the charger for an hour before I head out. People who are constantly running their phone down to 2% and then charging it back up to 100% are probably doing the most harm to their batteries.
  
  You're probably better off keeping your phone between 20%-80%.

  The parallels are there. RIM completely owned the smartphone space before Apple came in and revolutionized it. They had several releases that people just kept buying...the Curve series, the Pearl series, the Storm. Granted, these were before the iPhone was released to all carriers. But the point remains. RIM would change something small from launch to launch and people would line up to get the phone. Eventually that stopped.

  That's not the case Sherm and a total reach fail by you. neither blackberry nor iphone have ppl linning up to buy their product on day 1 anymore. 3s was the last time you that with iphone when they debuted video recording. Granted in NYC you might find a few idiots camping out, but as a whole that's a fail argument. Also blackberry was business centric, iphone isn't.

  RIM's app market also went to shit which was a factor in it's demise.
  
  People already have tons invested in pay apps/music. The cost to switch to another device isn't worth it.

  Maybe, you still have your die hards that love their blackberry. I agree with others that Apple needs to step it up and be innovative to keep their following though. Android is offering a lot more bang for your buck currently.

  Motorola got close with the first one on the Moto X, but I still have to setup a NFC tag and tap my phone to achieve the latter.

  I've never bothered looking into Android bc I found their OS to be clunky and not intuitive. I'm sure they've changed things in the last 4 yrs though. What does the current android off that an iphone 5S doesn't? I'm upgrading my phone and was planning on the 5S but I'm willing to look at other options.
