Lithium Ion battery capacity starts diminishing shortly after they're manufactured, regardless of the charge on the battery. The rate of decline depends on a lot of factors, especially heat and the rate of consumption of the energy in the battery.hasbeen;1498914 wrote:For you smart people, if I leave my phone charged all the time, never taking it off, it won't weaken the battery to point it doesn't hold a charge as long?
A battery kept in a laptop at 100% all of the time would probably diminish ~20% over a year, depending of course on the temperature of the battery.
What it boils down to is to just plug your phone in if you think you'll need the juice.
I just charge my phone when I go to bed. If I hit it hard throughout the day or I happen to be going out at night, I'll toss it on the charger for an hour before I head out. People who are constantly running their phone down to 2% and then charging it back up to 100% are probably doing the most harm to their batteries.
You're probably better off keeping your phone between 20%-80%. -

This. But then again, I suppose "can't think where they'd go next" is the whole purpose of "innovation".ernest_t_bass;1498576 wrote:What would be a new innovation you would like to see? I honestly can't think where they'd go next. -

True. Why innovate? We could all be using Nokia bricks still because if it ain't broke...Scarlet_Buckeye;1499089 wrote:This.

It's not a reach at all.Automatik;1499195 wrote:You're reaching.
Innovation and change is absolutely necessary. Get stuck making the same phone year in and year out with nothing but small minor changes and you might as well start calling it the iBlackberry. -
AutomatikIf Apple was comparable to RIM's current situation then you would have a point.

The parallels are there. RIM completely owned the smartphone space before Apple came in and revolutionized it. They had several releases that people just kept buying...the Curve series, the Pearl series, the Storm. Granted, these were before the iPhone was released to all carriers. But the point remains. RIM would change something small from launch to launch and people would line up to get the phone. Eventually that stopped.Automatik;1499200 wrote:If Apple was comparable to RIM's current situation then you would have a point.
Apple's launches right now are very reminiscent of what RIM was doing back in the day. -

That's not the case Sherm and a total reach fail by you. neither blackberry nor iphone have ppl linning up to buy their product on day 1 anymore. 3s was the last time you that with iphone when they debuted video recording. Granted in NYC you might find a few idiots camping out, but as a whole that's a fail argument. Also blackberry was business centric, iphone isn't.sherm03;1499208 wrote:The parallels are there. AutomatikRIM's app market also went to shit which was a factor in it's demise.
People already have tons invested in pay apps/music. The cost to switch to another device isn't worth it. -
WebFireAnd Blackberry was pure shit to begin with, before any competition came along. It was easy for them to crash when something finally did compete.

Maybe, you still have your die hards that love their blackberry. I agree with others that Apple needs to step it up and be innovative to keep their following though. Android is offering a lot more bang for your buck currently.WebFire;1499292 wrote:And Blackberry was pure shit to begin with, before any competition came along. AutomatikEveryone wants them to innovate, yet I never see any examples....

Yep. Today's cell phones, even the shitty ones, can do more than PCs were doing not so long ago.Automatik;1499312 wrote:Everyone wants them to innovate, yet I never see any examples.... -

Who has so little time that they can't turn on Bluetooth?dlazz;1498580 wrote:How about a phone that wakes up when you say a keyword? Or one that knows to automatically turn on bluetooth when you get in your car? Simple things like that would be huge time savers.
Motorola got close with the first one on the Moto X, but I still have to setup a NFC tag and tap my phone to achieve the latter. -

When I suggested a google search, I wasn't referring to a google image search. Sometimes you have to do some reading mr. teacher.ernest_t_bass;1499326 wrote:No clue what most of that shit means, but it looks pretty cool:

I've never bothered looking into Android bc I found their OS to be clunky and not intuitive. I'm sure they've changed things in the last 4 yrs though. What does the current android off that an iphone 5S doesn't? I'm upgrading my phone and was planning on the 5S but I'm willing to look at other options.wes_mantooth;1499295 wrote:Android is offering a lot more bang for your buck currently. -

I did do some reading, Mr. Assumption. I just found this image whilst researching. Basically, it's saying that transistor count should double every so many years.like_that;1499366 wrote:When I suggested a google search, I wasn't referring to a google image search.
