    I don't like this either.

    LOL
I am really hoping that either Will.i.am or Kanye West creates and innovates a new GUI for this piece of shit UI that Apple released.

Swipe inside the folders. It's unlimited now

I understand this. But 12 apps instead of 9 would require less swiping.

    Are you that lazy?

I thought the same thing and it has nothing to do with being lazy.

Yes, I am that lazy. Derp.

In all reality there should be 16 apps per page in folders. Because I'm super fucking lazy.

the download finally popped up at about 12:30 last night. Downloaded it but havent had a chance to mess around with it yet. Not a fan that it added the security passcode lock automatically, though im sure it can be changed.

It didn't add the passcode for me.

Do you have an Exchange account (work email) tied to your phone? That's standard procedure for those

Me too. That's probably my first "real" complaint. I figure if that's my biggest "complaint", then it can't be that bad, right?

You can change it to 1 min, 5 min, 15 min, 1 hour. Its in the security area I think

no. Idk I was half way asleep when I saw that the upgrade was complete. Just know in the iOS7 setup that it made me do it. Dont remember (or think) there was an option to go around it.

    Okay... here's my deal/issue...

So the 16 GB iPhone 5s is available on a 2-yr contract for $199, right?

I see I can "sell" my 16 GB iPhone 4s on Gazelle.com for around $160-170.

Someone has already addressed my concern about "whiping" the iPhone 4s, so I wouldn't have to worry about "sensitive information" being stolen/touched. Cool.

    Now here's the deal...

I went into Verizon yesterday because I remember hearing something back when the iPhone 5 came out, that if you were an "unlimited data" plan holder, then you would have to "cough up" this plan in favor for one of Verizon's tiered plans. I'm not in favor of this, as I realize as technology grows, that "unlimited data" plan is probably going to be a golden egg.

Well, the current Verizon tiered data plans are (I believe) as follows:
    500 MB 1 GB 2 GB 4 GB 6 GB
    $40/mo $50/mo $60/mo $70/mo $80/mo
Now... when I was in Verizon the other day, the Rep told me that they had this "new/special" promotion/plan ONLY for customers who currently have "unlimited data." They can receive 6 GB per month for $30/mo. They said this plan/option was just released like 2 days ago or something.

    So... here's my question/concern...

I'd really like to sell my iPhone 4s on Gazelle for like $165 (or whatever), and buy the new iPhone 5s for like $190 (likely $230 or whatever after tax, right?), but I'm NOT crazy about the idea of giving up my "unlimited data" plan, because I know what a golden egg that plan really is!

When I walked into the store yesterday, I told them this and they were VERY shady... they first made it sound like it might be possible to keep my unlimited data plan... then they wanted to "look at my account" to see how much "data" I was truly using. I could tell it was one of those "we want to see how little this guy is using, because if we can convince him that he's not using that much to begin with, then we can likely sell him on the 6 GB tier, as opposed allowing him to stay on his 'unlimited' package."

So... I turn to the Chatter to see if anyone has any advice on wiggling their way into keeping their "unlimited" data plans.... Or am I simply "screwed" and I just need to take them up on the 6 GB offer for $30/mo?

by now, I think it is pretty much impossible to keep your unlimited data when renewing a contract.
  • dlazz
Only way to keep it is to buy the phone outright and not sign another two year agreement.

    There's no exceptions to that.
  • WebFire
And most people don't use near as much as they think. I don't think it's a big deal to lost the unlimited.

now that you mention it, is there a way to check on your phone how much data usage you have used this month?
edit: found it under settings -> cellular. Says ive used 13.4mb this 'period'

I'd guess that means this month, but for my call time for the current period it says 4 days and two hours, which is also the same as lifetime call time lol

But don't forget... it would be "family share". So thinking you put kids on that baby... you're going to want AS MUCH data as possible.

Yes. Settings > Cellular ... scroll down to "Cellular Data Usage" (iOS 7)

It seems to me that you either buy a phone at full retail and keep the unlimited data or switch to the 6gb @ $30.

If your kids have smart phones, yes. However, with the share plan, you can set a limit for their data so they don't go berserk.
  • TedSheckler
AT&T lets you keep unlimited data with phone upgrades. My wife upgraded from the iPhone 4S to the Galaxy S4 in August and kept her unlimited. I will be upgrading from my iPhone 4 to a 5S and I keep my unlimited data.

Verizon gives $200 right now for a 16gb 4S in good condition. You don't need to go through Gazelle.
