So I woke up wondering when is this shit going to hit us, looks like the lead edge is approaching Chicago, Springfield.
Looks like approx Ft. Wayne at 5am, Toledo at 6am, Sandusky 7am, Cleveland 8am.

When we moved to Kansas the first thing my girlfriends job did was make sure we had a plan in case of a tornado. They then gave us a list of four employees who lived very close to us that had basements since we did not. Everyone was always very welcoming to make sure you knew if a storm was coming u were welcome to stay there

Yeah, glad to be. That thing when a lot more north than it appeared to be tracking. A second storm is currently over Indy, Evansville. We'll see how much of that we get.

It looks like it's headed straight for Columbus. Radar "future" look has it dissipating at the OH/IN border, though.

We need rain. No tornadoes. But rain.

So 7 confirmed elementary students dead, and 23 still missing? wow :(

They were showing footage of the actual twister on TWC last night. Wicked. It looked like it was the size of a football field. After seeing that, I am not sure I can think of a more terrifying thing than living in Oklahoma during the spring and summer and never knowing when a cyclone might hit.

Now imagine the forecast calls for a potential huge tornado, and your shelter-less school doesn't cancel school for the day.

I'd have so many sick days.

Yeah. I made the decision that, no matter whether I was offered the greatest job in the world, I wouldn't move to Oklahoma no matter what. Although, Kansas and Missouri are right in that alley as well. It would certainly make for the perfect location for a thrill seeker. I like action, but not that kind lol.

I'd only live in Lawrence, Kansas ;)

Nowhere else in tornado alley, though.

I was wondering this..how do they "confirm" someone is dead vs calling them missing?

Is it basically they are physically found?

Last I saw was last night before going to bed, they said 51 confirmed dead? Does that basically mean they found their bodies?

    I would assume.

Pretty much f*ck that part of the country. I'd move a lot farther North, West or East than close to the OKC/KC area.

Not many years ago that same area of OKlahoma got hit with a tornado.

Live in the Southwest and you get to deal with wildfires, earthquakes and mudslides. Go east and you have to worry about hurricanes. In the south a tornado could take you out.

Midwest keeps looking better and better, huh?

3 since 1999. I think it's a sign that you're not supposed to live there.

Missouri & Kansas (as well as Oklahoma in some cases) are considered midwest. But I get what you're saying. Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan....etc. We probably have one of the smallest threats of a natural disaster.
