read the comments on a huffington post article about the tornadoes, wish I hadn't. Lot of people glorifying in the tradegy because of the religion of the area. Bunch of idiots.

Said 4-6 grade all kids are accounted for. K-3 that part of the school was flattened and the kids were only in a hallway. They're searching under the rubble for them. Wow

That previous post was according to something i saw on twitter by the way. So not sure if 1% true
  • wildcats20
RT @CharlieKayeCBS KWTV: Children at Agapeland Learning Center in Moore, OK, whose fate was unknown, now all accounted for.

I read something about the watertable and not being able to have basements in the schools.

    Boston is late.

Heard on the radio up to 24 students could have died
  • sportchampps
Just watched the stream and they said 7 children drowned and 20-30 more could be dead

Saw a lot of coverage here earlier, it is really bad.
  • ts1227
Preliminary rating of "at least EF4" from the NWS. They'll look closer tomorrow and determine max wind.

Death toll at 37 right now.

Conflicting information on the students, Weather Channel saying all alive, KFOR saying 7 died (drowned, as you all mentioned)

    Make that 51

    Crazy and sad.

Worst part is they are saying some of those kids drowned. As if it could be even more awful.

I haven't been watching long enough. How did they drown? Underground shelter that flooded? That seems unlikely to me. Direct rainwater? Seem unlikely as well.

You fail to see how water could get in a ditch in the middle of a storm?

Wow. I've been disconnected all day and just trying to coast through work.

The overhead flyover is insane, like something out of a movie.

My question is this, how is it possible for a school to NOT have a suitable shelter in TORNADO FUCKING ALLEY!?

Why would school kids be laying in a ditch? Fucking smart ass.
  • Laley23
Not to make light of this situation...but holy shit. L.O.L.

This shirt actually made it on CNN.

I read somewhere that they thought water tables prevented a basement from being built. Derp, build the school somewhere else, right?

Are you serious? Lmao there was a 2 mile wide tornado...how do you think people (kids) were lying in ditches?

You wouldn't normally expect the school to be built on the low ground, but who knows how the tornado rearranges things. I'd assume the debris they were buried under allowed rain water to collect faster than it was able to drain.
