Explosion during Boston Marathon (non-political discussion)

They said the secondary explosion is typical of overseas terrorist attacks where they try to do more damage by drawing responders in to the first blast before a second, bigger blast.
yes, let's all blame the NRA now, just because some families from a shooting were present. That's all we need. Jesus. The media will spin it that way, with the gun bill in the Senate they aren't going to let this opportunity go to waste.

The kid from Van Wert realistically probably finished somewhere between 20 and 30. Hopefully the race officials will adjust the standings accordingly when the final body counts come out.

Wtf are you talking about????? The runners who finished in the lead packs had already been done for over an hour.

    Really?! GTFO.

Sad, not only for all of those involved, but for the furthering proof that we can trust no one.

There has to be some way to spin this so they can ban guns.

It's a legit question (one that occurred to me before knowing about the families there), and I'm sure the anti-gun people are going to speculate that. Just saying, is the Boston Marathon the relevant observation or is it April 15th?

But to me all signs point to foreign terrorists. Looks to be quite a bit more sophisticated than what you'd expect from some amateur nutjob.

OH well in that case what a slob! This post is slightly weird, Rec.

I don't consider jogging a sporting event that I would watch, so I must have missed that part. Good for the kid from Van Wert. This day will forever be remembered as the day the kid from Ohio finished 10th, not the day several runners were blown to smithereens by a terror attack.

Enough with the fucking gun talk already. Good to hear they are dismantling more that have been found, and hopefully there aren't many more.

how is it a legit question? what the hell does the NRA have anything to do with the newton families or a fucking marathon. Even asking the question is insulting.

It's extremely weird. Not sure what he was going for there.

While I could have worded my post more eloquently, my point was that the kid from Van Wert finishing 10th is not that important in the grand scheme of things.

It was posted on fb an hour BEFORE the explosion that he had finished 10th. Wtf is your deal. Its an accomplishment for him. Regardless of what happened today.

Well obviously not. But its an accomplishment for him regardless of the terrotist acts today.

Because some gun nut attempting to demonstrate that you don't need guns to do harm, and can do even more harm without guns, is far from ridiculous. It's a distinct possibility. Certainly McVeigh wasn't a rational guy. Really has absolutely nothing to do with the families there - it was one possibility I thought of before even knowing the families were there.

Some domestic terrorist group could also have chosen to make a statement on April 15th.

Too early to talk about motivation or cause for speculation.
    Let's just get the facts.

We know, that's why it was mentioned once in like 75 posts before you brought it up again.

Since the gun talk is almost unavoidable, I wonder if it shouldn't have its own thread?

I have no problem. I just thought it was weird that the person who originally posted that was more focused on the kid from Van Wert "placing" than the people who died.

Regardless, I shouldn't have posted without having a drink first. Ha. My apologies to the kid from Van Wert. What legs!
