So it's just bad to you? Your morals aren't absolute.

Okay. What are you trying to argue here? I'm guessing there is a pro-religion theme but I'm having trouble trying to figure out where you're going with this.

There wouldn't be a good or bad if there weren't religion therefore you're buying into it without even knowing it.

Even if that were true, I have no idea how people are 'buying into it'?

Actually by definition that would be agnosticism, not atheism. Atheists in general most DEFINITELY act like they "know" just as enthusiastically as those that believe in theism (Christianity being one of the theistic belief systems).

But hey, don't let things like facts get in the way of your bash fest.

sleeper;1384648 wrote:Atheism is the lack of belief in gods. The two are often blurred because the religious believers want to exploit the loophole that I cannot prove god doesn't exist, therefore my claim is as equal to their claim. Of course that's ridiculous because religious believers are typically on the lower end of the IQ totem pole and really add no value in real life other than to perpetuate millenial old myths to make themselves feel good about their pathetic lives. Just think how much progress could be had if we stopped believing in useless fairy tales that are designed to exploit the mentally insolvent; depriving them of what little money and intellect they currently possess. Ever met a smart believer? I haven't; it's an oxymoron. And before I hear the claims that so-and-so is a believer and has a PHD from Ohio State(or other top 10 schools in the country), just remember, that person is smart enough to have you "believe" that he believes so that he doesn't have to spend time trying to fix a logically defunct and broken mind.
This could quite possibly be the most uninformed post you have ever made, and that is saying A LOT.

It's a choice. You have free will so you can still follow god's plan and be with god.

You say you're a good person or have morals. You're feel good b/c you you were told you were doing what you were supposed to.

What are the stats on the number of people killed throughout history in the name of religious beliefs?

I agree, but one does need to be mentally insolvent to be with god.

Then your question, I hope, was answered with regards to why not kill one's self to be with God.

sleeper;1385069 wrote:Darn those elitist atheists for requiring proof of something before making a claim. Atheism is the default intellectual position that you have to be moved from in order to accept a theory. You are born with no knowledge and your decisions are based on the aggregate of knowledge from birth until present. Religious believers HAVE to indoctrinate children into their belief system and pressure them in order to solidify a life long belief in a deity who's existence has never been proven. Pretty sad from an intellectual perspective that society doesn't just flat out reject religious belief and seek to PUNISH those who perpetuate the belief to exploit the mentally insolvent from their money. They are businesses that pay no taxes and need no basis for subjugation of their customer base.
By your own description here, being born with no knowledge, we are all born agnostic and our life experiences as well as our drive for knowledge leads us down the path of our own belief system.

Like grains of sand in the Sahara Desert, countless.

Religion makes cancer, drunk driving, guns and all the random hot-button "killer" topics look like nothing.
