How Long Would It Take You To Run A Mile?

  • Ironman92
If you went out tomorrow....how quick could you do one?

It was never my thing at all. I jog 2-2.5 miles 4x a week but slow and steady. I could barely crack 8 minutes....probably a 7:55.

    Probably 7 minutes or so.

Good for your family. No one cares.

Running is for poor people. I hire a car.

    How fast we talking?

I ran a 5:08 in pre-season this year so I figure I could probably get around 5:00 right now

I need video proof of the 9 year old at 6:30.

Yeah I was on a track. Soccer pre-season stuff. I ran it last year on turf too (had shin splints and didnt wanna run on track) and ran a 5:25 or somthing like that... Also had to turn corners awkwardly

Doubtful. You know there are other people on this forum who run right?

I might not be able to run a 4:17 anymore but I'm pretty sure I can still break 5.

I can still run a 6:00 minute mile. If I prepared I am confident I could break 6. I run with my daughter who is in high school and still run a trail race here and there. I prefer to run true distance....20+ miles.

There's nothing like a good ultra race.

That's good stuff. I've only had 1 9 year old in 15 years of teaching touch a 6:30 mile....only had 1 girl ever break a 6:30 and she was a fit 6th grader greatly into competitive gymnastics.

Did your teams run well this past Saturday?
  • Laley23
Now? Probably about an 8 if I REALLY pushed myself. I have a spine condition so I havent run in over 6 months.
6 months ago? Around a 630-7. Depending on how fast I wanted to go.
In High-School? Around a 5. We had to crack 6 minutes to make the team and had to crack 5:30 to start (Soccer)

Last year in football preseason, I ran a 6:45 at 230lbs. I'm about 240lbs now and probably would be able to bust my ass and break 8, but I would hate my life.

    Aren't you fat now?

I was never really fat just had definitely gained a bunch of weight from how skinny I was in college. I've been running and working out pretty much everyday for the last 6 months and lost a lot of it though.

I'm looking to start my weight drop once I'm done with football coaching.

    Probably 7:30 or so.

I got faster when you weren't coaching.

    Funny how that works, huh?
  • FatHobbit
I could probably break ten minutes. I'm not confident in much more than that.
  • Polar Bear 73
I did 11:55 for 1.5 miles on my last AF PT test. Not great, but I am 58 years old. Now that I am retiring, I will probably quit running. After nearly 50 years of running, my back and knees ache every time I run now.
