Were you paying yourself to write the app?

I was making a decent amount of money from the site, so yeah, I guess you can say that. I'm not going to put in the time to develop an app for a site that makes negative money each month.

Justin has actually been shutting the site down in the past few days. When ad money runs out, cloudflare kicks in. As soon as Window World deposits more money, he turns the site back on.

Best tweet I saw on the subject...

Steve Jobs would never apologize. He'd tell us to stop using the maps wrong. And we'd strangely agree.

Have had mine a week. Really like it. The LTE is fast here in RDU. I know that's not exclusive to the Iphone but after being on 3g for so long it is quite noticeable. Have used the maps quite a bit over the past couple days and have not have a lick of issue. The turn by turn nav helped me get out of postgame traffic and the integrated yelp helped me find a great restaurant for my parents and I.

What is the big deal about the maps anyway? Maybe I missed something. I've had turn-by-turn nav built on my Incredible for 2 years. Works very well.

Yes, because you are using Google Maps on an Android phone. Apple got rid of Google Maps support on the new iPhone. Instead, their Maps application is being supported by TomTom. People are saying that landmarks and streets and even whole cities aren't appearing on Apple's new program. In addition, they don't have support for public transportation (something that most of the country doesn't give a shit about...but something that really hurts New York and Chicago users), and they don't have the street view that a lot of people like about Google Maps.

Basically, they took a step backwards with their Maps program on the new phone. And they are getting slammed because a company that is known for their innovation should not be taking a step backwards...ever.

Or a company "known for their innovation" shouldn't be implementing ideas that have already been out for over a year(4 inch screen, LTE, NFC(?) LOL).

Apple continues its downturn after the loss of Jobs.

Ok thanks. You would think if they were doing their own, they would make it kick total ass.

A step backward is putting it lightly.

iOS Maps is a major fail. I'm sure Apple is putting in a significant effort to fix it, but I still don't think it will be as good as Google Maps. They basically fucked over anyone who depends on public transportation on a regular basis. Terrible move.

The thing I think most android users don't know is that Google maps for Iphone sucked. Google maps didn't have turn by turn directions and the actual navigation was deplorable. If you wanted turn by turn you were better off downloading a different app like the 30 dollar tom tom or waze. Now Apple users have turn by turn, it just isn't google powered.

I like this maps better for the simple reason that I do have free turn by turn. Under the google maps based system on the old iphone you had to no navigation other than examining the map as you progressed.

Actually, Google Maps is awesome and the most widely used map program on the planet. The iPhone is actually what sucks.

Google Maps on iPhone, even though better on Android, STILL absolutely shits on iOS maps.

I've used the new maps twice and it's been just fine, no issues. But, I understand it sucks for a lot of people which is unacceptable.

That does bring up a good point. Why was it worse? Was the Google's fault or Apple's fault?

I would guess both of their faults. Google wasn't going to provide turn-by-turn navigation to iOS using the apple built application and Apple wasn't going to approve a stand alone google maps appliation while they were still using google for their mapping back end.

Anyone had problems dating their older I phones to the new operating systems. Updated my 4s and it basically crashed the phone and I had to spend a day at the genius bar getting it working again. Pretty much everyone in there had the same problem.
