Window Tint Violation
-
BRFSo, BRF was driving down 71 this morning from the airport and into the jurisdiction of Middleburg Heights. A local cop was facing traffic and pointing his radar gun. All of a sudden, he jumps in his car and begins to pursue me. I was doing 65 in a 60 and following me was a 19 year old friend of mine. By golly, if the cop doesn't stop my young friend and cites him for window tint violation.
Are you serious? This kid has been driving this car all over Wayne, Holmes, Medina, Stark and Summit and a cop pulls him over on busy 71 to do this?
The cop says the tint is ".09%", whatever that means. The fine is about $180. BUT, removal of the tint prior to the assigned court date and visual inspection of such by Middleburg Heights Mayor's Court personnel will alleviate you of having to pay any fines for the infraction, but you will be responsible for court costs.
I call "shenanigans"!

Helps keep your car interior cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, protects you from the sun, which is beneficial for my wife who has already battled skin cancer, actually helps your glass hold together better if it shatters in an accident, minimize glare from the sun, keeps potential thieves from being able to look in and see what's in your car, better for leather interior as it protects your seats from the sun as well, which causes cracking and fading.WebFire;1250136 wrote:Window tint is stupid.

The legal limit in Ohio is 50% on the front side windows. But yes, you would think the cop would have something better to do. Just don't remove it and pay the fine.BRF;1250128 wrote:The cop says the tint is ".09%", whatever that means. -

No, that one is false. Don't know what I was thinking. Lol -
mellaIs the tint something he did himself or did a professional do it? If he had a shop do it he should go back to them and have them remove it or pay for the fine.

Most shops will warn you up front that it's illegal. Most people simply just don't care because it's not an issue unless you run into an asshole cop. -
Crimson streakMost newer cars come with tinted windows. My 2010 Nissan rogue has the back tinted and it is definitely cooler in the summer which is good for my 2 year old

Rarely do you see the front windows tinted stock though. Most, if not all states, have no restrictions of the tint darkness on the rear doors or rear windshield. You can go as dark as you want on those, which is why some manufacturers go ahead with the tint there. -
gerb131Window Tint=reason to search for narcotics.

Those might all valid points....if it wasnt ohio and was actually some place warm and where the sun shines the majority of the time.GoChiefs;1250152 wrote:Helps keep your car interior cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, protects you from the sun, which is beneficial for my wife who has already battled skin cancer, actually helps your glass hold together better if it shatters in an accident, minimize glare from the sun, keeps potential thieves from being able to look in and see what's in your car, better for leather interior as it protects your seats from the sun as well, which causes cracking and fading.

Glory Days.09% is pretty damn dark if he meant it as only. 09% of light was visible through the tint. Also, any type of tint that is reflective is illegal no matter the tint percent.
When i used to work in the ghetto there was one guy who would write like 90% of his tickets for tint. It wasnt hard to go through a whole ticket book in a day that way. -

Hell, that's darker than limo tint. Isn't limo tint 5%?Glory Days;1250238 wrote:.09% is pretty damn dark if he meant it as only. 09% of light was visible through the tint. Also, any type of tint that is reflective is illegal no matter the tint percent.

Who's "being a baby"? Again, try to make sense. Just for pointing out to you reasons why tint isn't stupid? Smh.WebFire;1250261 wrote:Oh, I mean to add "without being a baby".
Btw, I don't really care, as I have a prescription for window tint. -
WebFireJust busting your chops man. I just don't like tint.
If I thought most people used it for the reasons you listed, I might feel differently. -

I do agree most don't use it for those reasons. They just think it "looks cool".WebFire;1250265 wrote:Just busting your chops man. I just don't like tint.
