Window Tint Violation

Thanks for all the comments on this thread!

No one commented that they had heard about the "fix it and have the fine dropped part", so I wonder if this is something that only Middleburg Heights has.

Correct. That's the price you pay for having an illegal modification done to your car. You know the risk of it when you have it done. As BRF stated, he'd been driving around with it like that for quite a while. Some people never get a thing said to thing about it. Just depends on if you run into that one cop on a bad day or something. To have old tint removed and new put on, you're looking at about $250 to $275 for a quality professional job. The ticket is less than that. I'd take my chances.

Most places give you the opportunity to fix your vehicles if it's illegal.

Depends on the judge. For any type of equipment violation i would tell people to try and get it fixed before the court date and bring the receipt and pictures etc. Atleast shows initiative.

If I kill someone, they should go arrest the clerk at the ammo store.

Should have called me I could have made this problem go away. I could give you a free pass. A letter from your Optometrist saying you have a visual condition that you have to have a tint in your windshield will give you a free pass. I've done this before with people that did have a condition that they needed a darker tint and I got called by Staties a couple of times to confirm that they had a condition that needed a darker tint. I quit doing it after I had to run to the phone all the time.

If the professional shop did it and it is illegal they should take care of the problem. Are you really that stupid that you would make the comparison between a professional doing a possibly illegal job and someone buying ammo and killing someone?

When my house was built, the builder was responsible for making sure the construction was compliant with the building code. When it wasn't he was told to fix it. There was a two month delay when the footer was poured off center. I did not pay a fine for this and the builder was about to pay for an extension for my rental because the company was run by professionals.

Do you pay for and accept crappy workmanship? If it was installed by professionals and they warned him before hand that it was too dark and it violated the law then it is on the buyer not the installer.

Question on this, if I were to get a prescription for the glare, would that be in effect for the car or just the driver? For instance, if I got the prescription yet my girlfriend were driving the car, would it still cover her?

As long as the prescription is for you, and the car is registered in your name, then yes, she would still be covered.

Who cares? It's window tint. And lol at the use of "thug."

I can't imagine the lack of self-respect and shame one must have to go around writing tickets for window tint, speeding, etc. all day. At least set your sights a little higher and be a firefighter or something.

Probably the same amount of self respect and lack of shame one must have to make that assumption about someone they dont know on a message board?

And why would I want to be a fire fighter? I'd rather prevent deaths than be the guy who has to clean the bodies off the road when its too late.

Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, and Randy Kraft are just a few notable serial killers arrested on traffic stops. Timothy McVeigh was arrested after being given a ticket for not having a license plate. Not to mention the hundreds of other violent criminals arrested everyday on traffic stops. Set your sights a little higher and educate yourself.

Not an assumption, just a fact. If your job consists of figuring out how to squeeze money out of people for stuff like their windows being too dark or going 10 mph over the speed limit, you can't possibly have any self-respect. The rustling I hear coming from your jimmies over the statement only confirms the fact.

So that's the reason for the petty ticket writing!! To screen for violent criminals? If so, why give the tickets out when it's clear the person isn't one?

You're trying way too hard to justify your life's work. You're a glorified hall monitor who mostly causes inconvenience to people on a day to day basis, and occasionally has an opportunity to do some real good. If you like it, cool.

P.S. Richard Ramirez wasn't captured because of a traffic stop. ;)
