Window Tint Violation
-
gerb131I have my windows tinted because it looks good on my car and I have narcotics.
-
Pick6I run 20% tint on my car. About 2 and a half years and haven't been pulled over for it.
Fuck the police. -
BR1986FBAlliance Police Department is notorious for this, from what I'm told.
I don't know what the window tint law is in Illinois but I had our Camaro shipped in from there and the tint seems a bit dark. I try to avoid Alliance in that thing if I can but will be pissed if I get pulled over for that. -
bigkahunaAll of our cars are tinted because the wife has issues with light as she drives. In Michigan, back doors and back window as dark as you want with NOTHING on the front; unless you have a script from an optometrist. My wife (her brother too) got a script from their doctor saying they needed tint on the front doors because of their eyes vs. light (sun, headlight...). We keep a copy of the script in the arm rest, and the cops can't do anything about it. They've been pulled over before and just show it; cops get pissed.

They started becoming real assholes about it about six months ago. I have the APD on Facebook and they announced on there that if you had tint, you better stay out of Alliance or you will be ticketed. -
sportchamppsI was driving with my friend off of Billingsley rd in Dublin when he got pulled over for window tint. The funny thing was only had tent on his front and back side windows and they were down at the time. The cop said he had saw him driving the day before but was to busy then to pull him over that day. Luckily are friends step dad is head of internal affrairs of Columbus police and called and had a nice conversation with this cop.

This. For the most part, it would be a lot cheaper if the people would just paint "WHITE TRASH" on the side of their car and deliver the same message. There are obvious exceptions, as have been talked about here, but not many.WebFire;1250265 wrote:Just busting your chops man. I just don't like tint.
If I thought most people used it for the reasons you listed, I might feel differently. -
RotinajI see nothing wrong with tinted windows. Should be able to go as dark as you want.

Anything less than 20% makes it very hard to see at night though. -

I have to roll down the windows when backing out of my driveway.GoChiefs;1250474 wrote:Anything less than 20% makes it very hard to see at night though. -

Rear view cameras are a wonderful thing. -
BR1986FBGotta say, to me it's kind of a pain in the ass. The tint came with the car (used 2010). I bought it over the internet and had it delivered. I wouldn't have had as much tint with it.

I'm not too big of a fan, but it does cut down on my wifes migraines. Plus, it does look OK with the black car. -

thePITmanI remember seeing a thread just like this last year. You can buy a car from a dealership in Ohio with illegal window tint (in Ohio) right out of the gate. It is not their obligation to make sure the window tint is correct for that state (but it'd be nice). It is up to the owner to make sure the car is registered and driven in a state where its tint is legal. It's stupid, but I think it's the rule.
A co-worker just had this happen last year. She purchased a new car from a dealership. A month later she gets pulled over and ticketed for illegal window tint.
I think had the car been registered in a state where it was legal, and if the person was traveling through the state, it would have been different. Let's say the car is registered in Florida (28%), driving through Ohio (50%) should not be an issue. I'm not sure if this is the case, or if they can still pull you over... but that would seem bush league.

GoChiefsI'm sure they will still try to pull you over if they want and play the "oops, I didn't see the out of plate tags", but they can't give you a ticket for it if it's registered in another state where the tint is legal.

Pick6I've never heard of having tinted windows being considered "white trash". Wasn't aware only white people got their windows tinted. My car has black interior and black leather seats, it gets pretty hot in the summer. Even with the tint I still have a gel dash pad melting to my dash.
But you know.."sun doesn't shine in Ohio" or whatever -

so buy a $15 sun shield and put in your car on hot sunny days. I also had leather seats and lived down south, it gets hot, but its not unbearable.Pick6;1250606 wrote:I've never heard of having tinted windows being considered "white trash". gutThat much window tinting is just begging to be profiled.

and get another fine down the road? as someone mentioned earlier, if this was done professionally, then have them remove it and put a legal tint on--if you did it yourself, you're fuckedGoChiefs;1250154 wrote:Just don't remove it and pay the fine.
