So no hell in your book? The soul either lives forever with God or you are done when the body dies, correct?Con_Alma;1159681 wrote:As one who believes in God, I think it would be endless suffering to be without him eternally.
I adhere more to Christian Conditionalism than universal reconciliation. -

I am unbiased. I have both perspectives and have no agenda. You however are betting your entire life that your one faith out of millions is correct based on nothing but a 3000 year old book that has fraudulent stories in it. Enjoy!jmog;1159687 wrote:I have ignored most of this thread for awhile, but this one made me laugh. To really say you are "unbiased" is hilarious. You are no more unbiased than any of the believers on this thread. -

Hell is not being with God but our souls are is naturally mortal. Eternal life is a gift from God.enigmaax;1159709 wrote:So no hell in your book? The soul either lives forever with God or you are done when the body dies, correct? -

Does the Bible describe Hell as simply not being with God? Or does the Bible describe hell as an eternal punishment for the soul?Con_Alma;1159718 wrote:Hell is not being with God but our souls are is naturally mortal. Eternal life is a gift from God. -

I think it uses detailed explanations describing horrific punishment so as to as close as possible give us an understanding of what it would be like to not be with God.enigmaax;1159723 wrote:Does the Bible describe Hell as simply not being with God? The bolded statement is about as disengenuous as possible, possibly hypocritical.sleeper;1159711 wrote:I am unbiased. I have both perspectives and have no agenda. I don't. Religion is false. It's been proven false but the rational mind. If one story of the Bible is false, then the entire thing is false.jmog;1159804 wrote:The bolded statement is about as disengenuous as possible, possibly hypocritical.
How does that feel? -

I'm interested in Skyhook's take on this.Con_Alma;1159772 wrote:I think it uses detailed explanations describing horrific punishment so as to as close as possible give us an understanding of what it would be like to not be with God.
It seems like you didn't like the idea of hell, so you adapted your interpretation to fit what you want to happen. Kind of a middle ground - you want to be rewarded for the shit you have to put up with here, but you don't necessarily want others to burn in a fire pit for eternity. At the same time, you don't really feel they're entitled to the same reward as you, so......let's just say they don't get a soul when they die and call it a day. -
cruiser_96There is no truth, but yet something is false?

I think Skyhook has what's know as a traditionalists view. It will be very different than mine most likely. They tend to accept bBelief in the continued existence of the soul after death of the body, and the wicked being tormented forever place.enigmaax;1159808 wrote:I'm interested in Skyhook's take on this. -

If each knew the other was correct wouldn't he/she subscribe to that belief?enigmaax;1159820 wrote:So which one of you who claims to "know" what is going on is correct? -
cruiser_96Something my pastor has mentioned in passing, but I thought the point was interesting was, in light of the fact that God, by nature, is a fair God, how would hell be different for the most wicked than the least wicked. I can't remember if he answered it using God's holiness not distinguishing between the two or if His fairness was able to act in that situation.
I thought it was interesting. -
Con_AlmaCruiser....certainly thought provoking.

Isn't it great that the pastor can make up whatever he needs about something he can never prove and that he doesn't know?cruiser_96;1159827 wrote:Something my pastor has mentioned in passing, but I thought the point was interesting was, in light of the fact that God, by nature, is a fair God, how would hell be different for the most wicked than the least wicked. 30 million different species. Over 90% of those weren't even in the region fit on a boat that sailed for 40 days and 40 nights, storing all the food in the world, without eating, fucking, or destroying the boat. I mean I find it embarrassing that I have to explain to an adult how ridiculous this story is.cruiser_96;1159840 wrote:Sleeper, can you tell me why the flood is impossible?
Not to mention, no other culture/civilization ever recorded a flood ever. Our ancestors don't all come from Noah either. If you actually believe the flood existing, please seek medical attention. You're hallucinating. -

Must not be that strong of a faith then if some priests with a GED can get up there and make crap up about the afterlife.Con_Alma;1159843 wrote:I don't have a problem with others doing so. You statement wasn't about me.
