I didn't say "ignore it" I said stop making it about race. A man was shot, quite possibly wrongfully shot. Whether the man is a racist is irrelevant.Mooney44Cards;1128287 wrote:HAY GUYZ IF WE IGNORE IT MAYBIE IT WILL GO AWAY -

Agreed...still trying to wrap my head around the term "white Hispanic." WTF is that?Writerbuckeye;1127872 wrote:Yep. The race baiters have been howling for "justice" since this happened -- and have turned this into a black-white issue even though Mr. Zimmerman is clearly not simply caucasion. -

It's not irrelevant. Whether he was a racist or not reveals his intent, and intent is the difference between manslaughter and murder.sleeper;1128288 wrote:I didn't say "ignore it" I said stop making it about race. Also keep in mind that if a black man had shot a man of any other race other than black, he would probably not be walking free like this guy is at the moment. The system is inherently racist.
The bullshit you're feeding us is this "in a vacuum", "in a perfect world" or "all things being equal" scenarios that don't exist in real life. You can say "don't bring race into this", but race is brought into everything by everyone whether they consciously know it or not. Therefore when we're trying to break down reasoning and intent when solving a crime, race MUST be brought into it because race is ALWAYS a factor, we just don't know how much. If we ignore race, we're ignoring a HUGE possible motive. -

Race is not the same thing as Ethnicity. -

White Hispanic
Black Hispanic
edit: Technically ^^^^this is a bad example since Sammy Sosa is kind of White Hispanic now, but you get the idea. -

Well I'd say racism if he had a history of saying/doing racist things against white people. If not, that would probably be ruled out as a motive.sleeper;1128317 wrote:What would be his intent if this child was white? -

friendfromlowryI had been following this story on CNN last week and I actually haven't heard anything since Friday night. I was driving home listening to newsradio discuss this and a guy called in saying he and his wife went to Florida annually in the winter. When the story broke last month, it was that Zimmerman spotted Martin walking home, acting suspicious, so he wanted the cops to come. Well Zimmerman started to follow him while on the phone with 911, and he was ordered to stop his "pursuit." So he did and Martin disappeared, but moments later he attacked Zimmerman from behind. So a scuffle ensues and Zimmerman appears to be getting his ass kicked before eventually shooting Martin. Now the problem is, no one wants to testify one way or the other. Supposedly multiple witnesses claim that Martin was beating Zimmerman, which may be hard to believe as Zimmerman is bigger & older, but if you're a pussy then you're a pussy...
Granted I'm aware that's just one man account and anyone can say anything, but it makes sense.
Of course there's the other account that Zimmerman just followed him, antagonized the situation, then shot him. The racist discussion comes in because supposedly he called him a name during the scuffle. But the police department as well as audio engineers at CNN all listened to the phonecall and no one could clearly make out where/if that ever happened.
One thing I can't stand about these situations is Al Sharpton. I wish this guy would just disappear from the face of the planet. Anytime there's a tense situation with black people, he shows up adding fuel to the fire and makes everything worse. For someone who's such a power figure and garners a lot of attention (from people and media) he sure does act like an inconsiderate prick. -

That's the thing. #1 Why is this young man in his neighborhood at night anyway? #2 Why did this young man attack Zimmerman? #3 If Zimmerman had called him an A-hole instead of whatever he allegedly said, would it still be about race?friendfromlowry;1128370 wrote:I had been following this story on CNN last week and I actually haven't heard anything since Friday night. #3 the answer would be yes, because its always about race, which is sad and intellectually dishonest. -

Ya man, I hate those selfish people that like when their kid has cancer they have like a spaghetti dinner to raise money for the kid's medical bills and shit. An irrelevant comparison. The kid is dead, this isn't about raising money, this is about making a profit off the loss of your son. Yeah, I just heard about that on the radio about how he supposedly attacked Zimmerman. I have been waiting to hold judgement because I knew more of the story would come out. Apparently the kid had been expelled from school as well so he wasnt some angel and saint.friendfromlowry;1128370 wrote:I had been following this story on CNN last week and I actually haven't heard anything since Friday night.
