Trayvon Martin

Fab1bI guess I don't like the part of self defense because if he was following the kid, didn't the kid have a right to defend himself? Zimmerman didn't have the right to follow him or approach the kid, and when he did the kid had the right to protect himself too. Right? That is MO!
-
chief_wigamI don't give a shit. If it was a white kid who was shot by a black man, and he wasn't arrested, there would be ZERO public out cry. The racist thing is played out.

I won't agrue that and I agree however beyond race this kid should have never been shot IMO!chief_wigam;1126258 wrote:I don't give a shit. If it was a white kid who was shot by a black man, and he wasn't arrested, there would be ZERO public out cry. The racist thing is played out. -
ManO'WarThere are a lot of facts that the general public doesn't know, so it's hard to come to any conclusions.
The part I wonder about is that this took place in a gated community. When I lived in Florida, I lived across the inter coastal waterway from a gated community that was very affluent. It was surrounded by a fence on the side that the water wasn't a boundary, and had a guard at the entrance 24/7. You couldn't get in unless you lived there, or if you were visiting and the guard could call and get permission from the homeowner to let you in. So my question is was this kid visiting someone inside the community, in which case he could have just told that to Zimmerman. If not, then what was he doing in there? If he wasn't supposed to be in there, then Zimmerman had the right to see what he was up to. But there is no way it should have escalated to the point that it did. -

What's funny is that just a few counties away in Sarasota a black 17 year old murdered two young white tourists from England...tried to rob them when they were drunk, then killed them in cold blood, with their pants around their knees.chief_wigam;1126258 wrote:I don't give a ****. But there are no marches or vigils held for those two victims. -
AutomatikThe kid's dad lived in the community. He stepped out to the store during halftime of the all star game.
He had skittles and an iced tea. The vigilante wanna be was strapped.
Read up on it, the story is beyond fucked. It seems that Zimmerman was obsessed with looking for crime, calling the cops, 911, etc. -

I didnt know Mike Clark had anything to do with all of this?Automatik;1126265 wrote:The kid's dad lived in the community. He stepped out to the store during halftime of the all star game.

bigdaddy2003According to a ton of people on Yahoo the culprit is "white spanish." It's pretty sad that people are stretching this enough just to use a racism angle.

sportchamppsYeah the news has clearly reported that the man is spanish and that he has a past record. Anyone saying he is white doesnt watch the news or read articles. So far we have heard from Mcburg that its the kids fault because he ran away from a stranger approaching him and its the kids fault from geraldo rivera b/c he was wearing a hoodie. Zimmerman was told by the 911 operator to not follow the kid. It also sounds like he calls the kid a fucking coon on the 911 call. The dude has called 911 every chance he has ever had http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/03/22/george-zimmerman-s-history-of-911-calls-a-complete-log.html.

Never said it was the kids fault. I said if the kid dont run it turns out differently. I also said if the guy dont get out of the car it turns out differently. way to stretch my words fella. I also said the guy should be in jail.sportchampps;1126285 wrote:Yeah the news has clearly reported that the man is spanish and that he has a past record. Racism is being pointed out now because it was said by an individual close to Zimmerman that he was a bit racist.bigdaddy2003;1126128 wrote:I'm kind of shocked this story hasn't been discussed on here. For those who don't know a 17 year old black kid was shot by a 28 year old member of the neighborhood watch. It's heating up now with the cries of racism so I thought I would see what the opinion of the OC was on the issue. I couldn't find an article about the story now without the racism angle since it happened at the end of February or I would have posted it. Has anyone followed the story and do you have an opinion? -

Again, because it most likely was induced by racism. Somebody lost their kid because a guy was a ignorant bitch with a gun.bigdaddy2003;1126272 wrote:According to a ton of people on Yahoo the culprit is "white spanish." The kids father lived in the neighborhood. He went to the store to grab some snacks during halftime of the game. He owed NO EXPLANATION to Zimmerman and it doesn't seem Zimmerman was looking for an explanation, he was looking for trouble. He shot an unarmed kid. There is no backing up what he did.ManO'War;1126263 wrote:There are a lot of facts that the general public doesn't know, so it's hard to come to any conclusions.

Yep.
The self defense angle doesn't work for me, it'll be a shame if he gets off on that. How the fuck can you fear for your life when you have a gun and outweigh the other, unarmed guy by 100 pounds? Give me a break. -

Also, the reason the racism was brought into this is that with his name everyone jumped to the conclusion that he was a white guy...until his own family said he was latino. -

lol, what difference does it make if it's his fathers house or his fathers' fiancés house? Seriously?ManO'War;1126373 wrote:I read that it was his father's "fiance" that lived in the neighborhood.

And no, racism was brought into it because the guy had a history of racist acts. It was said by a source close to him.
Also, white people were marching with black people, so it wasn't really turned into a black - white thing.
I don't know what you're exactly reaching for here. -
YtowngirlinflaWhy does it even have to be a racist thing? It should just be an injustice case. Instead everything nowadays turns into racism. People need to get over it.
-
Mooney44CardsOh man, I love how white people are suddenly the victims in this. THE WHITES ARE GETTING BLAMED EVEN THOUGH HE'S LATINO!
You don't have to be white to be racist. Hell, you can be black and be racist against blacks. If he thought the kid was suspicious because of the color of his skin, he is racist. -

Ok, so if a black supremacist kills a white guy, it wasn't because of racism?Ytowngirlinfla;1126412 wrote:Why does it even have to be a racist thing? It should just be an injustice case. Instead everything nowadays turns into racism. People need to get over it.
Same thing when a racist Latino kills a black/white guy...
We can't get over it because contrary to what some want to think, racism is still very prevalent and there are still numerous cases of hate violence here in America.
The guy was a known racist. He had over 40 calls to the police in like 2 years and I believe they were all over black males. -

Bingo. It seems like the white people feel like they're becoming victims of this because the word "racism" was tossed in.. Not the case. As I said, there were white AND black people partaking in the march for Trayvon.Mooney44Cards;1126416 wrote:Oh man, I love how white people are suddenly the victims in this. A 17 year old had to lose his life because of a selfless individual who hated black skin. That much we know. -

Because racism is an actual thing that exists in today's day and age, and judging from a lot of this man's prior actions and words he is allegedly pretty racist. People who say ^^^that^^^ want to pretend like racism is talked about too much or overblown, but it can't be talked about too much. Not until ignorant people stop saying and doing ignorant racist things (Like, I dunno, starting a thread about black names and then using the oh-so-funny joke of saying "inmate", hilarious)Ytowngirlinfla;1126412 wrote:Why does it even have to be a racist thing? No! Racism is being used because the victim was black! If the victim was Asian, the blacks would be saying nothing. So they, the blacks protesting are racist, by only protesting because the kid was Black.hoops23;1126301 wrote:Racism is being pointed out now because it was said by an individual close to Zimmerman that he was a bit racist.
See how that works, when we bring racism into everything?
It sounds like the shooter was wrong, regardless of the race of both parties involved.
