BTW, its Mob Week on AMC this week. Right now Godfather (4pm-8pm and then Godfather Part II 8pm-Midnight). In case anyone cares. Im sure the other classics will be shown throughout the week. Never as good as the unedited DVD version, but for me who has seen Godfather I and II so many times its great background.

But yeah; He, Clooney, and Ice Cube are all great in the their roles.

Did anyone catch Change Up or Planet of the Apes yet?
  • OSH
My wife saw Planet of the Apes. She said it was pretty good.
  • FatHobbit
I watched rise of the planet of the apes yesterday. It was pretty good. I wasn't expecting a lot from it, but it was definitely entertaining. Not really any plot twists though. I'd give it 7 out of 10.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how much of a chick flick it would be when I saw the preview but thanks for the heads up. I heard it was awful from someone else.

    Really?

Ugh..I just dont see it from the trailers, even the Red Band wasn't that funny. But if enough people say it's funny i'll go check it out.

Well out of the last 10 years what do you consider funny?

I did the last 12 years (since 2000):

    Old School
    Anchorman
    Wedding Crashers
    Hangover
    Superbad
    Forgetting Sarah Marshall
    Super Troopers
    Harold and Kumar
    Dodgeball
    Waiting
    Road Trip
    Scary Movie (only #1)
    American Pie 2
    40 Year Old Virgin
    Grandmas Boy

Not to say these are the only movies I laughed at. But these are the ones off the top of my head (im sure I missed some) I would/will actively watch many times over and over.

Change Up should fall in your category then.

Only American Pie 2? And no Knocked Up?

American Pie was in 1999 right??? It would definitely be there though.

Knocked up I actually forgot about, as well as Pineapple Express. Though I thought Knocked Up was a bit too much of a chick flick. The best scenes were the roommates.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
Agree with Laley, Knocked Up was not a good film, it was released during the height of Apatow-mania where critics wouldn't dare criticize anything he did. As much as I dislike Katherine Heigl I respect her for admitting that the movie was subpar.

Looks like they are doing a Dirty Dancing remake. When will the re-make madness stop!
  • Manhattan Buckeye
Didn't they remake Dirty Dancing a few years ago?

Touche about American Pie. I forgot the time period I gave. I can see where you would consider Knocked Up kind of a chick flick but I still thought there were a decent amount of funny parts. Even Heigl had a few funny parts. Well sure it wasn't a good movie and I would guess that is where Heigl is going with what she said because she is generally not a comedic actress right?

So anyways if you like all of the movies in Laley's list then Change Up should entertain you.

    Not that I recall.
  • bigdaddy2003
    As for the previews today:

50/50 - with Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen - looks like it could be decent.

Moneyball - with Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman - looks good to me. I don't know the story but I believe it's supposed to be true.

The Thing - Can't believe they are making this film again. There is a big shortage of new material in Hollywood.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark - Looks promising like Insidious but you never know with suspense flicks

Paranormal Activity 3 - No thanks. Should be good for a few jumps in the theater but not worth my money.

    I'm thinking of this:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338096/

Not sure if one would call it a remake or something different, but it existed.

Ah I didn't even know it existed. Ha

bigdaddy, basically all of those movies laley listed, plus I liked Horrible Bosses..I love you Man is one of my favorite comedies lol..plus I like more serious comedies, like Zombieland (by serious comedies I mean the main storyline is not just a comedy, if that makes any sense?)
  • bigdaddy2003
I too liked Horrible Bosses and I also dig serious comedies like Zombieland. The next comedy coming out is 30 Minutes or Less. What is everyone's opinion on that? I really like Danny McBride and Nick Swardson but I'm kind of just alright with Aziz and Jesse Eisenberg so my take is that it will be alright but nothing special.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
"I really like Danny McBride "

He's the most underrated actor today, everything he does is funny as $&%^. Land of the Lost was an absolutely terrible movie, Will Ferrel completely mailed it in - but God help me McBride was so funny in it I bought the dvd.

Oh and not to mention that in Change Up you get to see Leslie Mann's chest twice and a side shot or two of Olivia Wilde's chest.
