I got my money's worth, there were funny parts. I liked it. -

The previews have made it look pretty good so it wouldn't shock me. I'm checking it out at 6:30.Trueblue23;1437643 wrote:Heard IronMan was really damn good. -

Good news, better than Iron Man 2. I thought the first was the best. It still had a lot of plot flaws, but Robert Downey Jr. is amazing as usual.bigdaddy2003;1437708 wrote:The previews have made it look pretty good so it wouldn't shock me. I'm checking it out at 6:30. -
wes_mantoothI will probably be checking out Iron Man on Sunday...heard nothing but good things. Also, I am probably getting my hopes up too much, but I think the new "Carrie" reboot/remake has some promise to it because it has some solid actors/actresses in it.

Agreed on Carrie. I like what I have seen so far.wes_mantooth;1437732 wrote:I will probably be checking out Iron Man on Sunday...heard nothing but good things. I am seeing Iron Man 3 at the drive-in tomorrow. I need to rewatch the first one and I haven't seen the second...so that's what I will be doing this evening. -

I liked 2 better. I didn't really care for 3. I was ready for it to be over with like 30 minutes left. I guess I'm just getting bored with the constant humor. I mean I like a lot of the things RD Jr says but this one almost seemed like a comedy.Manhattan Buckeye;1437709 wrote:Good news, better than Iron Man 2. I thought the first was the best. [SP]The Mandarin angle was a complete joke. My buddy who went with me is a big comic book guy and you could see a look of utter disgust on his face the whole movie. Not too mention we wasted our time waiting for the scene after the credits.[/SP] -
Trueblue23Ironman 3 was good. Lots of stupid parts and the story was beyond flawed, but still entertaining.
-
hoops23ironman 3 was horrible.. Robert Downey Jr was the only thing that made the movie even somewhat watchable... The "twist" was horrible and poorly executed and the finale was just completely flawed.
No where close to Iron Man in terms of quality. -
friendfromlowryHmmm...Well I liked Iron Man 3. I didn't care for the twist, either. But, still an excellent movie.

bigdaddy2003For anyone who knows the area we went to Crocker Park (my first time) and the tickets were 11 a piece at 4 o'clock. It shocked me. The theater is bad ass so that kind of helped the experience but the movie left a lot to be desired. I'm not entirely sure why it's getting the rave reviews it is. I guess Joss Whedon said he was worried about Avengers 2 having to live up to Iron Man 3. I don't think he has much to worry about.

bigdaddy2003Scarlet, I've been waiting for your thoughts on Iron Man 3 but I guess hoops and I pretty much summed it up for you huh?

I think by now, everyone on this thread knows my thoughts on movies... As long as they're entertaining, I pretty much will enjoy it. And... I think I've made it fairly obvious by now that I tend to really like the comic book movies. With that being said, I was terribly disappointed with Iron Man 3. The best way I can sum it up is, I haven't seen a movie that perfectly setup FAIL so hard as it did since Spider-Man 3. I mean, come on...bigdaddy2003;1438182 wrote:Scarlet, I've been waiting for your thoughts on Iron Man 3 but I guess hoops and I pretty much summed it up for you huh?
[SP]Christmas time? Why didn't they release this movie then during Christmas season? The Mandarin? But not REALLY the Mandarin? He was made up? Way to perfectly waste a GREAT villain. And what was with all the exploding people? What was that about? And then to GIVE Pepper Potts the 'mutation'? Who didn't see that coming? But nope... We can't have Pepper Potts a genetic freak and more "super hero" than Tony Stark, so now we're going to remove the 'mutation'. Oh!... And I did I mention the exploding Iron Man suits that are supposed to look like fireworks!? Come on, man... It was pretty bad. The movie was slow and boring [not too many fight scenes), but somehow magically had too MUCH all going on at once (ex: the "suits" battle at the end).] unfortunately it was just too much of the WRONG stuff going on. I forget who said it / where I saw it, but possibly the best synopsis I read was it was too Michael Bay-ish. That is, too much going on, and too much of the WRONG things going on. It was setup beautifully... Just have Iron Man face off against the Mandarin. End of story. You'll have the next "Avengers" blockbuster-like movie. But no... These guys actually had to try to out-think themselves and create an abomination. It's going to sound cheesy, but I seriously almost wanted to cry because of how EASY it would have been to create a master-piece, but these idiots had to go and bloody a perfectly good franchise with this terrible piece. Yeah, Robert Downey Jr was great again (as we all knew he would be), and yeah the jokes were funny and he made you believe he was Tony Stark, but I wasn't watching Iron Man. I was watching some guy who happens to have a whole bunch of suits fit against some guy who's body mysteriously generates a ton of heat and is virtually indestructible, but yet somehow dies (?) at the end, even tho the blow he took was nothing more than the blows he received earlier on in the film. It was just not a good Marvel movie. Certainly not what you've come to expect.
And what was up with the teaser at the end ? Bruce Banner? Hulk? I trust they were alluding to the fact that The Hulk will be the next movie, but that was a pretty lame way of leading into the Hulk movie, if so.[/SP] -
ohiobucks1Eh. I liked it haha. Thought it was a fun movie and the 3d was really cool. Gfy to myself for being a shitty movie critic

Manhattan Buckeye"As long as they're entertaining, I pretty much will enjoy it."
I agree with this sentiment, particularly with respect to comic book movies. It isn't as if The Avengers would ever win an Oscar but it was a fun escapism movie. I think Iron Man 3 fell a lot short of that goal but it was still IMO better than Iron Man 2. I do however understand how comic fans didn't like the twist.
And I'd place IM3 above The Dark Knight Rises for that very reason. I expected more from Chris Nolan and got a script that is arguably worse than IM3. -

Respectfully disagree. Iron Man 2 > Iron Man 3, and while I LOVED TDKR, I will admit, it's slipped a little for me personally, when I realized all the plot holes I originally blindly accepted. But TDKR blows Iron Man 3 out of the water, eats it up again, and then shits it out. That's how terribly bad the people who put Iron Man 3 together missed.Manhattan Buckeye;1438226 wrote:"As long as they're entertaining, I pretty much will enjoy it."

hasbeenHaven't been to the theater in a couple weeks. Going to see Pain and Gain tonight because Iron Man 3 sounds too awesome for me to handle.
