Mooney44CardsJust thought I'd chime in to say I met Curly J yesterday and he bought me a couple beers. Dude is the GOAT of OC posters if it were up to me.
-
Curly JBoris I had a Prima Pils yesterday as a primer before dinner.
Thanks for the kind words Mooney. It was nice meeting you. I hope you enjoyed the BORIS and hopefully will enjoy the KBS. I never made it to The Jungle. That bar stool was feeling good and so were Red Rockets.
I'm 'Justining' it tonight so far...Wine. -
DeyDurkie5I couldn't make it to the JJ's. Glad you met curly though Mooney. Sounds like a good time.

Lol Mooney. I even talked worse about Justin.
Dey I'll hang onto to that beer for you. I'll be out in Colorado this coming weekend. I won't even charge you the storage fee for ageing it. -

I just want to say too Curly J, that it is quite refreshing (pun intended?) to talk to somebody in person that knows a lot about beer.Curly J;1177244 wrote:Lol Mooney. I even talked worse about Justin.

Thanks again. I think most of the people I follow on Twitter are Breweries, Brewers, or Beer Magazines. I've actually forgot a lot too over the years, probably from the beer.Mooney44Cards;1177251 wrote:I just want to say too Curly J, that it is quite refreshing (pun intended?) to talk to somebody in person that knows a lot about beer.
I think it's due to not having many hobbies. Craft Beer (Ghey in some peoples mind), Geocaching (even Gheyer), and Porn (the Gay type of course), are about the only ones I have...and not necessarily in that order. Oh and OC'ing, but this is more of a vice. -
Commander of AwesomeBig question on my mind...did mooney rub your head?

That will remain between Mooney and Me. The Wife was with me, but she won't tell.Commander of Awesome;1177509 wrote:Big question on my mind...did mooney rub your head? -

I do not. I live in a Condo and don't have tons of room for storage, on top of the beers I have stored. I did do a Mr Beer kit once and it turned out decent (Blue Berry Wheat). Some of the guys I work with talked about brewing together some batches since one of the guys had room for it. We actually found some equipment on Craigs List, but after we set up a time to pick it up he sold it before we got there.chicago510;1177513 wrote:Do you home brew?
It's a lot of sanitation and waiting. One guy even said it's about 70% Janitorial and 30% Brewing. Some love it, I on the other hand didn't so much. With my 'BBW' it was a month in the fermenter then another two months 'lagering' it. It only made 20 bottles.
I just choose to support the Breweries that are out there making quality beer for a living...and for me. -
vdubb96Drank the sixer of GL Holy Moses white ale on friday night. I enjoyed it. I'll probably pick up another six this week. Drank a couple of the New Castle Founders Ale yesterday. It was alright, almost like they watered down the original NC Brown Ale. I'll finish of the six pack but won't buy it again.
Did pick up two Rogue Voodoo Donught Maple Ales though, very interested to see how this goes. -
IliketurtlesAnyone ever have a Sam Adam Mighty Oak Ale? I got them in a Brewer's Choice Sampler pack and it was very very good. I had never heard of it until I saw it in this sampler. Also it seemed like more of a fall type beer hopefully I can find a 6 pack of it somewhere.

O-Trap
GL Holy Moses is a pretty tasty brew, though there are parts of it that don't strike me as 'witbier'-like (not to say it's bad, but to say it doesn't drink like a true wit). It's hoppier than you'd expect if you know your wits. However, it's definitely one of the more solid witbiers out there, and can go with just about anything to eat, making it a good choice if you want to serve craft beer to guests for dinner or even lunch. Plenty of citrus and spice, and can be served cold, making it ideal for summer.vdubb96;1177609 wrote:Drank the sixer of GL Holy Moses white ale on friday night. I enjoyed it. I buy a sixer from time to time, as I'm a fan of IPAs, and it has a toned-down hoppiness to it. -
vdubb96I agree Trap. I did notice a hint of banana in smell and taste. Overall good beer.

I have yet to try this. I'm not buying a lot of their Sampler packs lately cause all of them have their Boston Lager and just ends up taking up spots in my fridge. I eventually drink them when I'm desperate.Iliketurtles;1177615 wrote:Anyone ever have a Sam Adam Mighty Oak Ale? I got them in a Brewer's Choice Sampler pack and it was very very good. I'm nto a huge Sam Adam's fan. Their Irish Red is solid, and oktoberfest is not bad. Other than that I'm not a fan of their beers which means I usually stay away from their stuff, even if its a limited release.Curly J;1177657 wrote:I have yet to try this. Understandable. They have some great upper end stuff and the limited release, but I'm not a fan if their flagship beer.
I used to buy a lot if it years ago, but now only get what I mentioned above. Well except for Cherry Wheat. I'll grab a sixer of that every now and then. For some strange reason I like it...drank straight from the bottle even. This is the only beer I'll drink from the bottle. -
Iliketurtles
Yeah I was hanging out with some friends I traded both my boston lagers for a summer shandy and burning river lol. But it was a really good sampler the other beers in it were Irish Red, Black Lager, Apline Spring, and Whitewater IPA. I'd never had the IPA before either and Im not a huge fan of them but it was pretty good. Irish Red and Black Lagers are always good and Apline Spring I had back in March and didn't really care for it back than and that didn't change now.Curly J;1177657 wrote:I have yet to try this. Commander of AwesomeMy mom loves Alpine Spring and summer shandy lol. Summer Shady is among my least favorite beers of all time. I'd rather not drink/drink a keystone over it. Taste like a pure sugar to me.

Raw Dawgin' itShadys are fucking disgusting.

chicago510Went to a 60th birthday party of a family friend and they had Summer Shandy and Miller Chill (apparently bc it was 90 degrees). I volunteered to DD.
-
IliketurtlesYeah I really wasn't a fan of the Shandy. I had never had one and two of the guys I was with were drinking them and were talking it up pretty good so I gave it a try.
