    Love their double IPA.

How was this? I'm trying to get into the styles I don't drink much of (wheat beers being one) and I passed on Hop Sun.

I think #9 is really good. Overall, kind of hit or miss. If you like fruit beers, their Elder Betty is solid. Then they have a few which are decent, but didn't overly stand out in my mind.

It's one of The Wife's favorite beers. I like it too and I'm not much of a wheat beer guy, well anymore. We have more than a few cases when it's available. I mean it is ST after all.

^^^ Thanks, might pick some up this week.

Magic Hat was actually the brewery that got me into craft beer a few years ago, I actually realized there were beers that tasted different than what I was used to. I have come a long way since then and realized there are much better breweries/beers out there but they have a couple decent ones. I think of them as a poor mans Dogfish Head; they create unique beers but most are pretty average compared to what else you can get.

I'll be heading to Bevmo this week to pick up some craft beers and champagne to celebrate being done with finals. Any recommendations from some West Coast breweries you guys have had?

Kill two birds with one stone. $30 a bottle, but it's good. Killed a bottle New Years Eve last year.

Yeah but I'm on the college budget so it will be cheap champagne and better beer, and I've had a few west coast craft beers but not many so that's why I asked.

ytowngirl, Bevmo is the best place ever lol especially if you drink wine.

Here's an interesting story told to me by someone in that area. He's friends with some one at Otter Creek Brewing. He was in town to set up a specialty Server at our location. I found out he was a beer geek when he asked me locations in the area to get good beer. He ended up at Keystone, I believe, and was excited to have Two Hearted on tap as at that time Bells wasn't in the area where he was from...anyway...He told me Magic Hat was was actually started by some people who had degrees in Marketing. They marketed and advertised the beer long before they ever started producing it. Well not quite a cool story bro, but none the less...

...I just found it kinda weird since most people brew first then advertise. I do know they bought Pyramid and was later bought by North American Breweries of Rochester. (Thanks Wiki)

I don't drink much of them anymore. Used to have it quite often years ago as it was sold in our local supermarket and it was a quick pickup on the way home from work at Midnight. I did find their Wacko very interesting. I had it at a beerfest a few years back. It's Fermented using beet sugar so it had a pink hue to the beer. Not too bad really as there was no beet flavor. (I HATE BEETS)

Those are all ones I've never had. I guess you could describe me as the beer drinker who understands and appreciates great craft beer but doesn't mean I get it every time (so "snobish").

If I could be drinking Victory Golden Monkey I would be, but I can't find it anywhere out here, if that gives you an idea of what I'm looking for. Something lighter, but preferably packing a punch.

All of those breweries have some excellent offerings, enjoy.

Had that a couple of times at lay overs in SLC...in my best Kenny Tarmac voice. We just landed. Yea 30 minutes early due to a tailwind from CVG...

And nice offers BORIS. Was Russian River mentioned or The Lost Abbey. I'm on my phone and can't look back.

Tonight a little bit of White Rajah. I was planning on following it with the Green Flash Palate Wrecker. I grabbed the first stubby bottle in the fridge and popped the cap...Ended up being a Founders Old Curmy...win either way as I'll be going back for another.

I guess I didn't mention them because I don't have access, but yeah I would include them as well.

Stinks not being able to to get them here. I've only had a sip of one of The Lost Abbey's and it was glorious. I'm thinking it was a stout. Never had any thing from Russian River, but WANT to.

Never had anything from Lost Abbey but have read nothing but amazing reviews. Did manage to have a bottle of Pliny the Elder though and it was pretty much perfect.

Made it to Southern Pacific Brewery in SF this weekend. Must say overall it was meh, nothing special. I had the Extra IPA (Not a double IPA) and it was decent. Nothing I would seek out to buy again. Tried a sip of their Wit as well and it was poor IMO. Rather have a bud light.

Just had Green Flash Palate Blaster IPA the other night....might be my new favorite.

Had some quality brews the last week.

In Florida picked up some Florida Beer Company's Key West Southernmost Wheat. Not a huge fan of wheats, but this was pretty refreshing on a hot day. As you would expect, they added some Key Lime flavor to this beer, different but it worked I thought. Liked enough to bring a 6er home with us. Also in Florida had an Oskar Blues Gubna Imperial IPA. Great IPA out of a can, at 10% abv it was pretty drinkable, and coming out of a can made it that much better.

This weekend a friend came into town from Baltimore bearing gifts. Gave me a bottle of DFH 120 minute, DFH Worldwide Stout, Green Flash Palate Wrecker and Oskar Blues Old Chub (canned Scottish Ale). The Palate Wrecker definitely lived up to its name and from reading other reviews made sure not to waste any of the others saving them for later.

Just picked up a sweet 6 pack - PBR bottles for $4.50.

I haven't had a quality beer in a long fucking time....

Make sure you have a friend also get a six pack of PBR and you can play poker with the bottle caps.
