killer_ewokFounders Breakfast Stout is damn good but I think I'm partial to the Backwoods Bastard.

The Bastard is awesome! Gotta love a giant Scotch Ale aged in bourbon barrels! Chicory..it's ok but not even a favorite when it comes to stouts for me personally.killer_ewok;998760 wrote:Founders Breakfast Stout is damn good but I think I'm partial to the Backwoods Bastard.
I've tried the Old Man Winter. It was nice, but there's better out there. In fact I tried the Rivertown Winter Ale tonight and it was damn good. It had a really nice honey finish and was decently spiced. A friend of my husband set us up with it. I will buy bit again. Totally different from the over spiced Winter Ales. -

Had this last night. The chocolate lager was great 13/20. Vanilla stout was weak, which I actually liked 10.5/20. None of the others were above average. -
Commander of AwesomePicked up a Heavy Seas Plank I tonight. Has a creamy malt taste that I enjoy. Its solid, I'd get it again. Anyone have/try one before?

Do enjoy the Heavy Seas. I've had that as well as Winter Storm, Davey Jones Locker but would need to try the BIG DIPA double IPA havent been able to find it though.Commander of Awesome;1004710 wrote:Picked up a Heavy Seas Plank I tonight. I've had some of the Heavy Seas before. I liked them all except for the Peg Leg Imperial Stout. When I sampled it I ended up pouring it out. The only beer I poured out at the Beer Fest.Commander of Awesome;1004710 wrote:Picked up a Heavy Seas Plank I tonight. Has a creamy malt taste that I enjoy. Its solid, I'd get it again. Well I finally had the Yuengling Lager last night. I like the darker color, but hated the skunkyness on the nose...as I do with most lagers. I was able to get beyond that though a have a couple and the flavor wasn't bad. Like everyone says it's better than than Bud/Miller offerings.
It would be an emergency beer for me. Meaning if it was the best the place offered I'd drink it, but I won't be buying it to drink at home. Maybe I'd enjoy it more if I was outside on a hot day as compared to this cold rainy day, as that seems to make that style of lager better. -

Anyone see this in the stores? -
Curly JI have not CoA, but I'd love to give it a try.
Just curious if anyone else has tried a Rauchbier ???
To me it tastes like spiced ham. One is enough at in a sitting though. -
SonofanumpNo, is it a limited edition? (@COA maple bacon)

I wasn't able to find info on that other than what BA says, looks like its only brewed once a year. I found it interesting, want to give it a try. Its got pretty bad reviews on Beer Advocate.Sonofanump;1014556 wrote:No, is it a limited edition? (@COA maple bacon)

Have had it numerous times. Went to the brewery in Bamberg about 10 years ago. It's actually called Schlenkerla.Curly J;1014555 wrote:I have not CoA, but I'd love to give it a try.

Curly JI prefer the Urbock over the Marzen...(but I will eat it cold).

I love big beers, but the smokeyness of this was too much for me. I made about 3/4 through the bottle but couldn't finish lol. I like smoked beers that offer something else like Stone Smoked Porter. I could appreciate the beer and know it's good for what it is, but is the one beer I couldn't handle.Curly J;1014555 wrote:I have not CoA, but I'd love to give it a try.

Commander of AwesomeHad a Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout tonight, first time with an Oatmeal Stout far I know. It was decent, at first I wasn't a huge fan but it just wasn't what I expected. Wouldn't say I'm a huge fan but it was solid. Definitely a unique flavor. Weird Coffee/chocolate flavor that isn't for everyone.

SonofanumpThirsty Dog 12 dogs tonight, 12.5/20 pretty good beer. Magic Hat dark as night winter lager, average 10.5/20. Highlight of the night was Troegs Perpetual IPA, scored a 14/20 which is very high for us. It was $6 for a double bottle, a bit pricey, but very enjoyable.

Commander of AwesomeHaving an arrogant bastard right now, I must say quite good. Not sure how I've gone this long without ever having it.

Have one in the fridge, thinking about drinking it as well. I also highly recommend picking up Double Bastard while it's out now.Commander of Awesome;1016366 wrote:Having an arrogant bastard right now, I must say quite good. Not sure how I've gone this long without ever having it. -

I saw it right next to the bottle I bought. I thought about it, but figured I'd start with the regular. Didn't know it was a limited release. I shall be going back there tonight to pick one of those bad boys up.BORIStheCrusher;1016425 wrote:Have one in the fridge, thinking about drinking it as well. If you want to sample another Christmas/Winter beer, try to get your hands on Troegs Mad Elf. Also, Southern Tier Old Man Winter is a nice change as it is much hoppier than other Winter seasonals.Sonofanump;1015403 wrote:Thirsty Dog 12 dogs tonight, 12.5/20 pretty good beer.
