Has anyone ever tried the The Honey Basil from Bison Brewing? The Wife picked some up today. Now that I think about it, I've never had anything from Bison.

Okay, I had a few of the The Honey Basil. It was missing only two things...the Honey and the Basil. I tasted neither of them. At least it had some body to it which makes it better than a Budweiser, but I wouldn't buy it again. Maybe I don't have the Organic palate. Oh well, it's Founders Centennial time now !!!

Last night picked up some Bear Republic Racer 5, Heavy Seas Black Cannon, and 21st Amendment Hop Crisis. Was my fist time trying Hop Crisis and was pretty impressed with it, pretty powerful hops. I could barely taste the Racer 5 after drinking a few of those.

I dont mind dating Stella every now and then.

I've been drinking the Hop Crisis more often. I really, really like that beer. I had a couple of it's dark little brothers last night, Back in Black. That brewery makes some decent brews.

I still have a few Southern Tier Creme Brulee in my stash.

Went across the river this past weekend to have diner. We stopped in the Party Source to see if they had any 120 Min IPA. They did get a very small shipment in this year, but it was gone within hours. I did pickup some Founders Devil Dancer Triple IPA, which I've yet to see in my area.

The other night, The Wife and I had an all Founders evening tasting. We started off with the Centennial, moved on to the Double Trouble, then on to the Devil Dancer. I like this one. We only chilled 2 Devils and was wanting more. I ended up grabbing another one at room temperature and sharing it with her. I ended up finishing with a Old Curmy.

Tried some 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon wheat beer last night. Good stuff.

I have a few of those in the fridge. I usually will have one once I get off work then lead up to the higher ABV stuff. It is actually tasting pretty good in this hot weather we are having.

I just put some Rodenbach, Flemish Ale, in the fridge. Looks like it might be a sour beer night. I've never had Rodenbach before, but I do like a sour beer every now and then.

I decided I'm going to start revisiting some beers I haven't had in a while just to see how the taste has changed for me over the past couple years. Had hundreds of different beers over the past 3+ years, so I'm going to pretty much start over whether it's stuff I liked or not. On my way home from work I grabbed a 4 pack of North Coast Old Rasputian and a 4 pack of Flying Dog Double Dog Double IPA. I love Old Raspy but haven't had it in a while (drinking one now and it's even better than the last time). Was never a huge fan of Flying Dog other than Gonzo Imperial Porter, but it doesn't hurt to give their beers another shot.

Well I had some O'douls last night. It's been years since I've had that...(oh shit bought an AB product. Oh well)

Over the past couple of nights I had the Rodenbach. Very nice beer. It was not as sour as I would have thought it would be. Poured a nice Redish Brown color with a thin head. I'll have to get this more often this summer. (since I can't find Jolly Pumpkin around here this might be my 'go to' sour beer)

I also tried a Quaff Bros Hop Flood. It down right decent. It's a DIPA aged in Bourbon barrels. I couldn't tell much on the nose as it might have been too cold. It felt nice on the palate with some bourbon/vanilla/ flavors from the Oak. The mouth feel was much like a 90 Minute. It was like a 90 min in oak. I will be going back to buy more, if they still have any. There is usually less than 20 cases per batch.

Most people haven't heard of Quaff Bros, in fact I hadn't either until last weekend. It is a Beer that you can only get at The Party Source in Newport Ky. They worked with 2 Local breweries in Cincinnati, Mt. Carmel and Rivertown, that produces beers under the Quaff Bros name. This one was brewed by Rivertown. I've had some of their stuff before and their every day beers are okay, but their higher end beers are very good. (Hop Baron). Rivertown also makes a Lambic which feels more like a sour beer than a Lambic...and the Lambic is a bit overpriced IMO. Now Mt. Carmel makes some great everyday beer on the other hand. I'll have to look around and see if I can get any other ones next time I'm there, as this Hop Flood was a nice surprise.

Just around the corner from GLBC is the newly opened Market Garden Brewery. Just stopped in there on Tuesday before the Tribe game. The brewer is Andy Tveekrem, a former brewer at GLBC and former brewmaster for Dogfish Head. I think they just opened up within the last month. I had their IPA, although I can the name to it on their online menu. I enjoyed it, more so than the Commodore Perry I had down the street. My wife had their Wallace Tavern Scotch Ale, which also was well done IMO. I would like to go back soon to try their Black Hops 484 IPA. Very nice place inside as well w/ a large outdoor beer garden in the back.

There is also Fat Head's Saloon in North Olmstead. I haven't been or tried any of their offerings before.

Another place I haven't been to but my wife went to for a bachelorette party recently is Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus in Columbus, near the Arena District.

I have asked about this place, apparently it is not a brewpub (make their own stuff) as advertised, but rather just a place to get different beers.

I just realised I haven't had a beer since Saturday. I will be changing that this evening.

About Fat Head's. I've never been there so I can't confirm, but if what you say is correct than this is some pretty poor advertising on their site:

That's great news, I will have to try that place out then.

Went with Harp tonight, I remember liking it more. Its ok, nothing great.

Well tonight I got off work and opened a bottle of Riesling. Had a couple of small glasses then moved on to St. Louis Kriek Lambic. (not as good as the Framboise IMO, but good none the less) Then it was Old Raspy time. Damn I'm glad I picked this up the other day, thanks to Boris from mentioning it in his post. I really dig it, but it's making me very tired after my second bottle.

I did try some Red Horse the other day...night for you day walkers. It's made in the Philippines. It was the first time I've ever saw it here in the States so I had to grab it. I remember stories from when I was stationed in Korea about how strong it was and how one beer 'could' get you drunk...not so. It comes in at 7%. I guess that's strong compared to the 5% Buds, but I'm a 'pro'. It actually had somewhat of a sweet finish. Kinda like Flat Tire, but not as sweet. The six pack was gone in 2 days and I'd buy it again over the 'Big Breweries'. I was kinda surprised how decent it was.

Cheers and here's to Rydawg for starting another thread about what he's drinking tonight. ;)

Drank a bomber of Stone Old Guardian last night and it knocked me on my ass. I was trying to age it for a few years but it sounded so good I had to open it.
