Elite 8: (1) Duke vs. (3) Baylor

  • JU-ICE
Once again the poise of Coach K and Duke shows down the stretch, if the game is close in the final four minutes never bet against the Blue Devils.
  • Laley23
Burt, thats true and I dont think it has to do with it being Duke.

But it wasnt a "questionable call" that "every game has". that was a terrible call. I can live with 50-50 calls, but that just was not close to a charge.

I hope Scheyer gets his ass beat one day

Goofy ass face with a big fucking mouth. The faces he makes when he is driving the ball make me want to pull my eyes out.

explain how Duke can have that many offensive rebounds if they are "shooting the lights out"

Thats the stat that CBS put up
Huh? If a team is shooting the lights out, that typically doesn't mean there are at least 22 offensive rebound opportunities.

Duke has 22 offensive rebounds on 39 misses.
That's his point.. Shooting lights out doesn't result in 39 misses.

Duke is terrible. They are very boring to watch.

Why no T on that D-bag Scheyer for throwing elbows. God I hate Duke. Scheyer following in the long line of Duke douche bags.
  • cbus4life
    Zoubek is a douche.

Baylor NEVER had Duke in this one.
    You're kidding yourself.

The refs knew it, which is why that call was a charge.

Should have been an And-1 and a 6 or 7 point lead.
  • Prescott
Duke can thank the refs for the huge momentum swing at the end.
That's how duke games are called. Give credit to the dukies for knocking down the free throws and fouling Lowers out of the game.

Thank you, I didn't think it was that hard of a concept to grasp.

These officials just cost me about $700 for the NCAA sheet.
  • hoops23
I most definitely do hate how Baylor got screwed at the end.
  • SQ_Crazies
I hate Duke as much as the next guy, but the officials didn't decide this. Bad calls are part of the game there is nothing you can do about it, one play doesn't make or break the game.

Fouling Lowers out of the game??? He was standing straight up and Singler jumped into him. How do you supposed that would have been called on the other end?
  • mallymal614
I love the heart Baylor playing with. They still aren't giving up.
  • SQ_Crazies
The officials didn't pull down 20+ offensive boards.

I hear this quite often, and think its absolutely bullshit. One play, when a game is close, can certainly make or break a game. A call one way or the other, can make or break a game. When the margin of error is that close, a play here or there can make a difference. Coaches preach the same thing often during practice. Basketball is such an emotional game where momentum can change in a second. And a single play or call can do that one way or the other.

Dont ignore the important thing here, 22 offensive rebounds against a zone D that is supposed to have all these great athletes.
Go back and look at the thread, I said Duke was doing a good job on the glass long before you gave a stat saying Duke shooting 36% from the field was shooting the lights out.
  • mallymal614
Reggie Miller once scored 8 points in 8 seconds. Can baylor do the same?

    I agree.

Especially when that one call made it go from a 6 point game to a 1 point game.... And I'm not counting the proposed FT that BAylor would have gotten.

    BIG change.
  • JU-ICE
Dont know why teams just dont throw the ball down court in these situations
  • Cleveland Buck
The refs didn't decide the game. Everyone knew that Duke would be getting the calls before the game even started. Baylor should have expected it and played with some poise. Instead they cracked under pressure.

Yeah, well if one play means that much then I could point out a bunch of missed shots by Baylor and say IF they made those buckets they would have won.

You know what I hear quite often that is absolute bullshit?

    Fans blaming officials for games.

A complaint about the officials has come up in just about every tournament game thread.
  • mallymal614
    Foul? Come on now!
  • JU-ICE
Looks like Duke deserved the number one seed afterall.
