False. If you told me a reason why Minny had a chance to beat X I may have agreed with you. But when you decide to be a douche and just say they suck because they are X, well there you go.

And hell, you can think X sucks for all I care. Just know that you are in the minority with that opinion.
I'm a douche because your head is so far up Xavier's ass that it's impossible to have a convo with you. Have fun with Kansas St., they will rape xavier a new one LOL

Must have not watched Tenneesseee play in the tournament having to win the game in the final minute against an 11 seed.
Ohio State did not play well in either of their wins. GT was what 3 for 25 from behind the arc? Also, have fun winning in the final 16 with 15 or so turnovers.

Evan Turner is out and out sloppy with the ball. He needs to wake up.

And if you want to talk about Tennessee's problems, then start a thread about their issues..

This sums it up. Northern Iowa, Cornell, Butler, and St. Mary's are all quite capable of making it to the Final 4 and beyond.

In Cornell's case, Kentucky better hope that the Big Red cools off from behind the line. This team can flat out shoot the rock...Same with St. Mary's.

The Buckeyes will have to play better than what they've shown so far. If they don't, they'll be done.
Tennessee is the team that better play better,If they don't Ohio State can play worse and still beat them. Tennessee only beat San Diego State by 3, an 11 seed! And only beat the 9th place MAC team by 15. Embarrassing!!
Blowing out OU by "only 15" is embarassing? Funny shit there pard. I'm sure Georgetown agrees with your horse shit.

You suddenly think Turner now has to fix his turnover problems for OSU to win?

He has been doing this all season long and OSU has lost only 4 games with him playing including a 3 point loss to Purdue and a close loss to WVU at WVU. Both teams are still playing in the tournament.

He doesn't need to wake up, its going to happen as he isn't a true PG and refs let opponents ride him up and down the floor. The Buckeyes know this and overcome it.

Did you ever think that OSU's defense, which was being praised left and right by Digger and Bilas, had something to do with GT being terrible on the offensive end? OSU now has the ability to switch from man to zone and not miss a beat.

The one reason why OSU will win is because they play more like a team. Their ball movement will be much better than Tenneessee, their rotations will be better on defense, and I believe they have the edge in coaching.

Exactly, its like the guy hasn't been watching Turner all season.

He averages 4 turnovers a game and has had two triple doubles including TO's.

Its going to happen and it hasn't slowed OSU down. He makes it up by shooting 52% and getting second chances averaging 2 offensive rebounds per outing.

I don't believe OSU is consistantly playing their best Bball right now. But in stretches, they definately are. That being said, they definately aren't playing poorly either. The NCAA is a grind at times...so the games aren't always going to "look good".
But defensively, something they get NO credit for...they are playing very well. It is something that has kept them in ball games when the offense has struggled at times.
And I will admit, Turner definately needs to do a better job of protecting the basketball. He definately gets careless with the ball. I can live with it if he gets his usual 20/10/6.....just as Matta has said. But 9 TO's is too many IMO. I think he will be better with the ball vs Tenn knowing he will be pressured as much if not more then he has.
OVerall, OSU does very well in the turnover category...to have as many as they did in the last game is unusual for them. It something they need to be aware of.
  • devil1197
But I think we can all agree that 2-3 turnovers the past two games in the tournament should have been fouls against the opponents simply riding Turner the whole way down the court. I think as the tournament progresses, teams will not be able to do that as officials will start calling the body fouls.

He'll always have turnovers, he isn't a PG and he controls the ball all the time. But OSU's defense has been able to create turnovers on the other end to balance it out.

I can live with 4/5 turnovers...9 is excessive IMO. Its my only issue with Turner. 2/3 times a game, he just gets plain lazy/sloppy with the ball.
My point is, if OSU wants to continue to advance, its something they need to work on. Its not always on Turner either. The PG gets all the criticism often for turnovers, when in fact, other players aren't getting open.
But if OSU can get better at taking care of the ball, and they NEED to, then that will translate into an even better game by them.
There are always things to work on, no matter what...and OSU/Turner need to work on taking care of the ball better. Plain and simple.

And yes, I do agree the officials are letting the other teams get away with too much on Turner. The handchecking and physical play without a whistle has been ridiculous at times. I am not sure it will change...it hasn't all season long. I think Turner size and strength lead them to be lax on the whistle at times.
  • devil1197
Yeah, I agree that some blame goes on Buford, Lighty, and Diebler for just running down to the corners after Turner gets the ball in the backcourt.

When those guys stay up around midcourt, they do not turn the ball over or they get a quick open shot or bucket.

turner played better ahainst GT...But he was out and out horrible ahainst santa Barbara.

Anybody not from Ohio watching the first tourney game had to be scratching their heads on the POY crap pointed Turner's way.

I stand by my statement. He needs to wake up. If he doesn't play to his usual level, the Becks will go home/

So 24-9-6 doesn't count as playing better after the UCSB game?

Right, he has already woken up.

The Santa Barbara game was first time Turner had 50 friends and family members watching him play for Ohio State.

OSU needs Turner, Buford, Diebs, & Lighty to show up for every game from here on out. I would be lying if I said I weren't worried about the UT pressure, even though it isn't what it once was. If the Bucks can get into the UT bench, they should be fine.

Jumping the gun a little, what time does the winner of this game play on Sunday?
  • krazie45
This game is going to come down to Jon Diebler....if he's on from 3 the Buckeyes win, if not they will probably lose.
  • CinciX12
How long can Diebler keep up the way he is shooting is what I think it comes down to as well. The guy is either really on or really off. I can't remember a just 'average' night from him.

    THIS

I've watched this team every home game and a couple road games (Butler, WVU) and I still can't bring myself to be confident in them because of that unconventionality. I know the talent is there, but it's just really weird how successful this team is to me.

I remember doing the pre-game show before their first game of the year, and me and the other broadcasters thought that even getting to the sweet sixteen would be a stretch because we didn't know how Turner running the point full time would work out, but I guess it's been working fine, and it would absolutely awesome to even get to the Elite Eight, we can't take anything for granted.

    You sure about that?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/gamelog?playerId=36132

Check his game by game log, I can only see a few games where he doesn't shoot around 43% his season average from 3. He doesn't disappear as much as some people think he does, or as much as he did last year.

    Really, REALLY?

So playing in front of thousands of fans each night, as well as representing hundreds of thousands of alumni doesn't faze him, but playing in front of 50 family members and friends does?

I don't buy it. He had an off night. He had some good looks that just weren't falling. It happens, it's basketball. He's at the point where it appears the pressure doesn't faze him at all (see Illinois in conference tourney, although if you think about it that game had no real bearing on ncaa tourney seeding).

    His 'average' isn't most people's average:D I mean missing about 3 or 4 more a game.

He had an average night against GT shooting 40% under his average.

What made his performance stand out is that he exploded in the 2nd half for 17 points or something along those lines.

Going 4/10 isn't really on imo, he just had a solid half and stepped up.

That is the thing with OSU. They have 4 legit guys that can go off at any point in the game and take it over.
