Wake Forest isn't even really on the bubble. They are in. Otherwise, you have to look at teams who played tougher teams and beat some of them. If a team only played a few RPI Top 50 teams and beat 1 or 2 of them, then how can you put them in? If a team is 5-8 vs. the top 50 with wins at Clemson, at Wisconsin, vs. Vanderbilt, vs. Michigan State, and vs. Wisconsin, how can you put a team with 1 or 2 good wins in over them? Or a team that is 5-6 vs. the top 50 with wins vs. Butler, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Purdue.
Someone was saying that Minnesota hasn't done enough OOC. Which of these other bubble teams did more OOC? Mississippi State beat Old Dominion. Florida has two nice OOC wins, but they are just 3-8 vs. the top 50. Mississippi beat Kansas State. Great win, but it was their only top 50 win (1-6). Virginia Tech had no top 50 RPI wins OOC. Rhode Island has 1 OOC top 50 win against Oklahoma State. Not nearly as impressive as KSU or Butler, and that was their only top 50 win of the year (1-4).
I agree that there is no way Rhode Island should be in. I also don't think Virginia Tech should be in at this point. I think Minnesota and Illinois should comfortably be in. I also think Florida should be in over Virginia Tech and I think Mississippi State has to win the SEC to get in.
