FSU @ Carolina

McDonald showing some effort. Keep Ginyard over on the pine.

Nope, here he comes to check in.
  • ironman02
Two guys wide open under the basket...Zeller can't get them the ball. Gimme a break.
  • wildcats20
Carolina is 12-5 at home and 1-7 on the road. 1-1 on a neutral court.
  • ironman02
Strickland will NOT shoot the ball. He's scared to death.

Too much thinking out there and not enough reacting.
  • reclegend22
Duke lost four at home in '07, so I know how that goes. Not fun.

I'm glad I haven't had to endure this in over 15 years, though. I can't even watch it anymore. It's like watching the Pope walk into an adult video shop.

Two FGs in over 11 minutes of play in the 2nd half. How can that even happen?
  • ironman02
    wildcats,

Have you been reading Deon's Twitter?

If so, do you get the feeling he has already left Chapel Hill mentally? It just seems like he would rather not be there anymore.

    "Turning the page"

    "Transition period of life"

"First time in a long time that I miss California. California I miss you"

Just sounds depressed and ready to move on.

I saw the "transition" one and I knew he had thrown the towel in.

And all the guys seem to care about is where they are eating next and when they are going to play with their pet snakes(literally). It's a joke and they should be embarrassed to walk the campus.
  • ironman02
Yeah, I know what you mean. Losing like this takes its toll on everyone, but it's up to these guys to do something about it. They're just not focused on working hard and getting better, or so it seems.
  • ironman02
4:22 left, lead down from 23 to 13.

    Comeback? Yeah, probably not.
  • wildcats20
At the beginning of the year most of their tweets were about getting in the gym and staying focused. Now it's all about the most random shit. I know Twitter is well Twitter, but still.
  • wildcats20
That's a terrible shot from Drew, but at least he took the shot.

Hubert Davis still talking about finding success in the ACC tournament?

Without Carolina fans sticking around in Greensboro, the league will lose quite a bit of cash. Better hope NC State or Wake makes a run.
  • ironman02
Well, this loss all but guarantees that Kansas will reach 2,000 wins before Carolina. I know it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but for some reason it still bothers me. Maybe it's because Carolina led them 1984 to 1970 at the beginning of the season.

So much for celebrating 100 years of Carolina basketball.
  • ironman02
Hubert should go into the locker room after the game and rip this team's collective ass.

It's laughable that they're down by 11 though, considering how awful they have played.

I read an article awhile back that Deon was quoted in as saying that he doesn't even go out in Chapel Hill anymore, that he just stays in his apartment playing Xbox. He said something like, "I'm happy as long as I have my Xbox."

If Chapel Hill residents are treating their players like that, I don't blame him for checking out. I actually have always liked Thompson. I do feel bad for a guy like him.

14-14. 3-10. Carolina to take on the Demon Deacons in LawrenceJoel for 14-15, 3-11 this weekend.
  • ironman02
So can someone tell me why they waited until 5 minutes to go to start playing hard?

    Are you kidding me?
  • reclegend22
Wouldn't be an FSU game without an end game meltdown, with Leonard sweating it out on the sideline, seemingly clueless.
  • ironman02
    rec,

Are people actually being rude to him or does he just not want to go out because of all the questions...

    "What's wrong with you guys?"

    "Why aren't you winning?"

I'm disappointed in the team's effort, but if people are actually saying things to Deon, then that's pretty bad. He hasn't performed as well as he should have this season, but he was a big part of a national championship.
  • swamisez
Fans aren't treating the players badly I can guarantee that. The Daily Tarheel has tried to be supportive, but I think there is so much shame in their season players don't want to own up to it.
  • ironman02
That's what I was thinking, swami. Hope you're right.

    77-67 Final.

    at Wake, Miami, at Duke.

Can they get a win against Miami on Senior Night? I hope so.
  • reclegend22
    Yeah, that's probably it.

Although, if a place like Inside Carolina is any indication (I know chat boards are often filled with complete morons), I imagine the call-in shows in the Triangle haven't been pretty, especially since on numerous occasions Roy has lambasted the Heel nation for their criticisms, stating that he has, well you all know, more passion in his pinky toe.. I don't live there, though, so I don't know for sure.

    Here's the article. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/02/09/1235638/north-carolina-tar-heels-woes.html

I'd be inclined to side with you and swami here, iron, that he's just embarrassed for himself and his team's play. But, if the empty Dean Domes the Heels have been playing in front of lately are any indication, I'm sure Chapel Hill isn't exactly showing an abundance of warmth toward the 14-14 Heels.

This season reminds me of Duke in 1996 when Coach K was gone, but at least the Duke players were giving effort and not mailing it in. Fun season to watch, but UNC will be back.
  • swamisez
The radio shows have been critical of the effort of the players no doubt. 99.9 EspnTheTriangle is free to listen to. If you have a chance to listen to it tomorrow morning, the Adam and Ovies show ought to be a good barometer. Heel fans are tired at this point, they have mailed it in to. The talk know is whether Reggie Bullock and Harrison Barnes will be enough to get this team into the top 3 of the league next year.

Tune in tomorrow, there are some pretty good Roy impersonators who call in. They are good dadgumit.
