Texas and Big Ten Talking
-
cbus4lifeMakes sense as far as academics go, as well.

hoops23haha, NO WAY it'll happen.
Texas having to travel to Wisky, Ohio, Michigan, and some others in November? -

They would be smart so they wouldn't have to travel ALL of those places in one season, but regardless they will have some traveling to do.LTrain23 wrote: haha, NO WAY it'll happen.

I think an extra 20 mill or so might make them care less about traveling.LTrain23 wrote: haha, NO WAY it'll happen.

Oh, no way? I thought one team played all it's road games in the same season :-/detectivegibbles wrote:

Obviously, it's pretty easy to understand what I meant by that statement.
I guarantee this doesn't happen..
And if I'm wrong, sweet. -

The distance wasn't my point. My point was the cold weather.SportsAndLady wrote:

Strapping Young LadNo,No, No...I thought we all knew that there's no way in hell a team that doesn't border a Big Ten state could join the conference.
I thought that was common knowledge around here. -
Little DannyThe Big10 would have to expaind to 14 if the take Texas. No way does A&M let them go without them. The Texas legislature is made up of a lot of Aggie alums. There will be a lot of political fallout on UT if they do not insist on A&M going with them.
The Big12 could very well have a different look in a few years. With Missouri and Texas in Big 10 talks (as well as a couple others as I have noted) and Colorado being a candidate for the Pac10, the B12 will have to go to survivor mode. -

That's what I was thinking. Haha. Just goes to show you that there can always be exceptions to the rule. That would be awesome if Texas joins, but like others have said, I really doubt that they will. I would say that some other Texas/Big 12 schools would have to join also.Strapping Young Lad wrote: No,No, No...I thought we all knew that there's no way in hell a team that doesn't border a Big Ten state could join the conference.

2quik4uThis move would definitely give Texas a advantage to the big time recruits in the north
-
sleeperMaybe we should get LSU in the Big Ten so Penn State can beat them every year LOL

it helps explain why this would be a good move for texas and the big tengibby08 wrote: I don't give a damn what a blogger says....

WriterbuckeyeWhat doesn't make sense?
It's a huge financial win for Texas -- and would likely lead to the same kind of financial win for the rest of the Big Ten.
Why is that so hard to understand?
Factor in the academic side of things -- where Texas is far and away a better academic school than most of the Big 12 -- and is actually a strong fit with the Big Ten, and it makes even more sense.
Just because YOU don't think it makes sense, doesn't make it so. -

Yes it does.gibby08 wrote: I don't give a damn what a blogger says....

Put aside the pure athletic aspect of it. Yes it seems like a far travel for games and some rivalries would be ruined.
BUT, its all about the benjamin's baby. Texas and the B10 would gain so much financially that it would trump most of the other aspects. -

When Penn State joined the Big Ten everyone said they would dominate the conference. How has that worked out?gibby08 wrote: 1.This makes NO SENSE AT ALL

ohiotiger33Lol prob be just like FSU and Miami. Everyone will be like OMG you guys are gonna be insane now!!! And then them and like Penn state will become terrible for at least 5 years.
-
jordo212000
It's a solid article. And it actually makes alot of sense. Especially financially for Texas. The Big 12 has a terrible media contract.gibby08 wrote: I don't give a damn what a blogger says....

Strapping Young LadHaha...yeah The Ohio State is The definition of pissed right now.
Whatdya mean we're gonna have to play a real championnship contender every year?!?!?!
Tressels lookin' for his the first plane outta Columbus when this goes down.... -

OSU and Texas went 1-1 in their two game series. Then both teams played a great Fiesta Bowl two years ago when both teams held a lead late in the 4th quarter.
I highly doubt Tressel is worried about Texas and Mack Brown joining the B10.
