Notre Dame Football 2010.......The Brian Kelly Era Begins

The kid is what 18(?), and is referencing "total dominance" and that doesn't sound stupid to you?
Domers, so oblivious. -
Swamp FoxZach Banner's dream is obviously to play for the Irish. I think that's fine. Notre Dame is a great school. It will look tremendous on a resume. The problem with Zach's vision is that to achieve the level of "total dominance" he mentions in conjunction with Notre Dame football, what are they going to do to fill the other ten positions that Zach won't be playing? I'm afraid that the era of Notre Dame dominance is, and has been a moot point for over two decades and I don't see it returning any time soon. Zach should still go and play for the Irish. Good football players will be drafted high no matter what their college teams do.

athlete37Am I a bad person for betting 35 on Utah minus 6? :-/

No, just a slightly poorer person.athlete37;556319 wrote:Am I a bad person for betting 35 on Utah minus 6? :-/ -
sherm03When was the last time a true freshman QB made his first start at ND against a ranked team and get the win?

Good question.sherm03;556661 wrote:When was the last time a true freshman QB made his first start at ND against a ranked team and get the win?
Hey, let's not go there. Please. They're going to win plus quite a few of them are being pretty cool with ND fans. I just don't want this to turn into another pissing match. I'm not going to get excited/upset by any of the other outcomes today. The one that I truly cared about turned out the way I hoped (but certainly didn't think it would end up like it did). That's what matters. Today, I'm not drinking to drown sorrows.....but rather to celebrate an IRISH victory!!!!!athlete37;556673 wrote:i can deal with that, especially if the buckeyes lose -

sjmvsfscs08This win had to look good for the recruits, I'm sure it was magical, outside of the rain.

this victory's for you, ewok..you and sjm are two of the more realistic, knowledgeable and less antagonistic ND fans on this board (unlike some of these other subway-alum jerkoffs)...good victory for the Irish, and definitely a game to build on--one more victory for bowl eligibility, domerskiller_ewok;547615 wrote:LOL. Sounds good to me but I won't get my hopes up. -
ZombaypirateVery good solid win for Notre Dame. They looked pretty sharp in their win. I bet it felt good for the Domers with a real nice solid win.

killer_ewokThanks so much, vball. It definitely feels good to be on the winning end against a team worth a damn. Especially on Senior Day. Those kids have had a rough year and frankly a rough career at ND. To see them enjoying a nice win like that was great. It's only one game but I hope the Irish use it is a springboard to improve. They should have a little confidence now.
They can't enjoy it too long though. I'm not trying to pump Army up but that's not a gimmie. The Black Knights are going bowling for the first time in nearly 15 years. That option attack gave ND fits a few weeks back when they got their ass kicked by Navy. Time for some redemption. And then USC. They need no introduction. They're down this year but definitely getting better week by week. No bowl game for them so ND will probably be their bowl game (rivalry, final game of their season). I'm expecting USC's best shot at SoCal at night. A win there would be huge for the program. They haven't beat USC since 2001.
Zombay-It does feel good. No doubt about it. -

If Diaco fucks up this Army preparation again, my head may explode. Notre Dame has had a formidable rush defense they entire season....except the Navy game. I would expect Notre Dame's defense to be extremely motivation this week.
Beating Utah is huge, beating Southern Cal would be gigantic for this program. -

Lists the bowl likelihood as follows, assuming Notre Dame beats Army and unfortunately falls to Southern Cal:
1. The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, Jan. 9 at AT&T Park in San Francisco
2. TicketCity Bowl, Dec. 31 at Fair Park in Dallas
3. Little Caesar's Bowl, Dec. 26 at Ford Field in Detroit
4. New Era Pinstripe Bowl, Dec. 30 at Yankee Stadium in New York
5. The BBVA Compass Bowl, Jan. 8 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala.
6. The Military Bowl, Dec. 29 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
Should Notre Dame to the unthinkable and finish 7-5, The Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando would probably be their destination.
I personally would love 7-5, but at 6-6 I would enjoy watching the game personally in Detroit or Washington D.C. I would definitely go to either. -
Con_AlmaThe Military Bowl, Dec. 29 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
This will be interesting seeing how this is a possibility for Army also.
The Military Bowl isn't going to let those two match up again. -
karen lotzI thought Army was going to be playing in the Pinstripes Bowl? Is that not official?
-
Con_AlmaNot that I know of. I thought it was still undetermined.

Just talked to Everett Golson's high school HC Mickey Ward. Ward said that Golson really enjoyed his visit to ND this weekend. He has been cleared for both early enrollment and to play basketball at ND should he choose to attend.Right now, it's an ND-UNC battle and there are no plans for Golson to take any other visits. With an NCAA ruling at UNC not expected to come down anytime soon, Golson may have to make his decision before he finds out what happens.Wilson expects Golson to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. -
Con_AlmaAccording to their website it's either the Military Bowl or the Armed Forces Bowl.
ARMY BOWL GAME TICKET REQUEST
Army Athletic Events > ARMY BOWL GAME TICKET REQUEST
Army has reached our SIXTH win and is eligible for a bowl game bid! Although we are not guaranteed a specific bowl bid, we anticipate being selected for a bowl game, and are secondary to certain bowl games. We could also accept a bid for a bowl game we are not secondarily tied into. Most likely, we will not know the location of our bowl game (or if we are selected) until the Bowl Selection Show on December 5th.
You may choose the game you'd like to attend and the number of tickets requested. If you do not have a specific bowl game in mind, but will go to whichever bowl game Army accepts a bid to, you may select Other Bowls and you will be charged at a later date for whichever game Army participates in.
Please pick from the following events or items:
BELL HELICOPTER ARMED FORCES BOWL
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl
The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will take place at 11am on Thursday, Dec. 30 at SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Tickets are $40 each.

The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman
The Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman will be played at 2:30pm on Wednesday, December 29 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. Ticket prices will vary, averaging about $65 per ticket. -

I'm 65% sure Golson will be Irish. That would be quite the steal. A few places have said he would be on Braxton Miller's recruiting level if he were taller. -
karen lotzI read that too. Justice Hayes was working on him pretty hard over the weekend too.
