"THIS"! -
rock_knutneND President, Fr. John Jenkins issued a statement today saying that Notre Dame is responsible for the death of Declan Sullivan:

At least they're willing to admit they had some fault over this tragedy, they know they're going to pay out the ass but they're manning up and taking the blame. IMO, this doesn't happen very often when you know a multi million dollar law suit will probably be filed against you.
BTW, Fr. Jenkins also said that Brian Kelly and Jack Swarbrick have the full support of the administration and board of directors. -

Isn't this the timely quote that always gets trounced out into the press just before someone gets canned??? -

Typically yes, but how many of the people who have said it are Catholic priests? -

I didn't call you an idiot. All I'm saying is Kelly called the play the way he always calls the game. He is aggressive. That is why he has been successful. It wasn't reckless aggression either, as there was no guarantee of the field goal being made due to a variety of factors. Now if he all of a sudden started saying the punt is the most important play in football and punts when his team is down 2 scores with 6 minutes to go, then I would worry. There is a reason he is the head football coach at Notre Dame and you are on a message board calling people idiots and dumbasses and whatever else you say. Good for you for following college football religiously for damn near 20 years. Hopefully your next 20 years allow you to understand not everyone plays by your strategy.Manhattan Buckeye;546414 wrote:Yeah, Lotz, I'm the idiot. I'm not the one defending such a dumbass call. Enjoy Kelly, keep it up and you might win 6 games next year.
I've followed college football religiously for damn near 20 years. I'd easily put it in the top 5 of worst calls I've ever seen.
I don't really care, I'm not a ND fan, I just don't understand you guys.....no fan of any other team is even trying to defend the call, yet you guys are trying to. It isn't working. It was a dumb call. Period. -

The good news is those lucky bastards won't have to listen to your shit 100 years from now as you'll be dead and gone by then. -
vball10setas far as the play call at the end of the game is concerned, it's always easy to second guess a play after it's over...what I keep coming back to is if the reason Kelly was hesitant to kick a field goal due into 30mph winds, then why was he throwing a lob pass into the corner of the end zone against this same wind? it just doesn't make sense, but again, hindsight.....

Uh oh..usually the kiss of death when that comment comes out! -
killer_ewokSo Utah is getting absolutely hammered by TCU. That means ND will have a pissed off Utah team coming to South Bend next Saturday. Great.......
-
sleeperUtah would would win whether they are pissed off or not. It's Notre Dame we're talking about here, they haven't beaten a good team since 1970.

That's not what I meant. It just might be a 40 point loss instead of a 20-30 point loss. -

sjmvsfscs08Utah will come into South Bend ranked around 17th?

sjmvsfscs08Brian Kelly was at Iowa WR/LB/DB athlete Christian French's high school game last night. Kid is a monster, Notre Dame wants him as a OLB for speed and Iowa wants to let him play WR. He is expected to commit to either Iowa, Notre Dame, or Oregon sometime this week. Cross your fingers.

karen lotzAwesome quote from Zach Banner, a 6'8" 295 lb offensive lineman from Washington when talking about schools at the top of his list:
USC, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, the big dominant teams like that. Oregon as well, but Notre Dame; when my coach told me I had a scholarship offer from Notre Dame, I literally started crying. I was in his office, they were tears of joy of course, but you think about having the opportunity to go and play for a school that is known for so much total dominance and that is something I want to be able to do in my life. -
sleeperIn actuality, he was crying because he'll never realize his dream of "total dominance", unless his definition of that is 6-6(at best) with a bowl loss.
The joke of ND continues, right down to its new recruits. -
AutomatikYeah I don't see that quote as awesome at all.....actually its rather stupid.
But that would be one hell of a pick up. 6'8" 295 is fucking HUGE at that age. -
karen lotzAwesome might not be the best word, but how is it stupid? The kid is obviously excited to get a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. He already has a pretty impressive list of offers and judging from the rest of the quote he thinks Notre Dame is a special place to him.
