Notre Dame Football 2010.......The Brian Kelly Era Begins
-
karen lotzexactly why I said "lol good old Beano"
-
karen lotzAnother interesting item from the press conference: Kelly and Swarbrick have talked with NBC producers about improving the flow of game to fit more with the style/tempo of game he wants to play.
-
killer_ewokGood Lord, Beano......STFU.
-
vball10set^^^LOL--he's old--we should give him a break!!!

My guess would be how they handled the tv timeouts. That's an interesting thought. -

this...
Games on NBC are similar to CBS NFL games. Timeouts after every possession. I don't think NBC went as far as coming back from commercial for a kick off and then going back to commercial, but it does seem like they add a few extra TO's to every game. Its more noticeable when you are in the stadium, there just isn't a lot of flow to the game.FatHobbit;460725 wrote:My guess would be how they handled the tv timeouts. That's an interesting thought. -
vball10setI'm for anything to help speed up the game--hope they can figure something out....
-
karen lotzCinci averaged 77 offensive plays a game last year. In his presser today, Kelly said that in a 20 minute segment of practice, they will run up to 60 plays. Three plays a minute is ridiculous.
-
vball10setI get tired just thinking about it..LOL

sjmvsfscs08That was sweet. Good thing they didn't go overboard on the cliche choir shit.

vball10setask and you shall (sometimes) receive--I like the fact that Kelly & Swarbrick took the initiative...hope other teams/conferences follow suit

Something seems wrong about the tv station adjusting things to better suit one team. I get that ND has a lot of pull, but that just seems fishy to me. -
karen lotzWell if you read it, they changed it to more closely follow the model of the other games it carries (NFL). Two and a half minute timeouts are ridiculous especially when there are 5 (I think) of them per quarter. I've been to games at OSU that have been televised on ESPN/ABC and there is not close to the amount of dead time there is during NBC broadcasts of Notre Dame games.
-
The EqualizerBesides, the show is called Notre Dame on NBC. So yea, things should be adjusted where reasonable for the star of the show.
-
TiernanAmazing...The Chatter has managed to waste 30 pages on a team that has been less relevent than Boise State going on 5 yrs now...simply F'n Amazing.
-
karen lotzSolid contribution. Why post on here if ND is irrelevant??
-
TiernanJust to piss you and Rocky Knoot off
-
karen lotzNice try then. Have a nice day!
-
FatHobbitI don't have a problem with them changing the format of timeouts, but it seems a little fishy to me that one football team can change when tv timeouts occur. Imagine if the big ten network decided to only have tv timeouts if the big ten team was losing and let the clock run when they were winning. I'm surprised there isn't a consistent format for all college football.
-
karen lotzRight but that's not what is happening here. Its not like Kelly will have a buzzer and when he feels like play should continue he will buzz the NBC producers who will skip over the timeout. I do agree that all televised games should be following the same format and I think NBC will more closely mirror the format that ESPN/ABC/CBS use for college football.
-
vball10setI'm sure there's more to it than that, but it'll be interesting to see what other schools with network affiliations will follow ND's lead.

Sorry, I'm not complaining about what Notre Dame is doing even though it might seem like it. I'm just surprised there isn't a set format for all of college football and a little surprised that the schools can influence how TV timeouts are used. -
karen lotzI don't think you are complaining, I get what you are saying. I was just saying that its not like Notre Dame will have a different set of rules for them. I agree with you that it should be the same all the way around.
