Henderson will not sign LOI yet !

I agree but I wouldn't be surprised to see Tressel do it. He doesn't take any shit from no one, especially the comments made by Sean Henderson about how Tressel handles his visits and such.

Florida and Notre Dame did not even bother to send LOI's to the Hendersons. I hear the dad is an aspiring rap artist and Lane said 'I can introduce you to Snoop.' and did. The NYT asked dad about it and dad denied ever meeting Snoop.
His dad always asked coaches 'what can you do for me?' To me it says he is too greedy and ignorant to wait 3 years until Seantrell gets a big NFL $$$ contract. Even Randy Shannon backed off him. Shannon knows how that stuff can turn out. The nation's number one recruit a couple years ago was Arthur Brown from Kansas. He had a 'mentor' who shopped him around, and Miami paid the price. Arthur didn't sniff the field for 2 years. He left college last month. Didn't even ask for a transfer, just dropped out. His little brother, Bryce Brown played the same recruiting game, and landed at Tenn. w/ Kiffin. Kiffin has not learned yet. I wish this story would go public, Lane and NuKeese. ( pronounced "new keys" by those who know about ) Richardson. I mean the recruiting, not the great filling station hold up.

the best part of the hold up story is that the gas station is owned by one of the single largest donors to UT.

I feel prsonally that Jim Tressel is more comfortable with players who want to be Buckeyes. I can't say I disagree, you're certainly going to get their best when they are where they want to be.

Too bad Dad seems to be running the show and telling us what Seantrel desires are, who knows at this point if he really would have rather committed to OSU. If he backs out at USC though I wouldn't expect a whole lotta love from players or staff should he come in to Ohio State.

Yes, I saw the Pilot store security video. The kid that Lane saved was as guilty as the others, but he was a starter. Nuke had been in the doghouse because of his facebook saying how unhappy he was in Knoxville. Lane had no problem throwing him under the bus.

So, now Buckeye fans are saying that Henderson is nothing but trouble and we don't want him around? You do realize how badly Tressel wanted him right? The guy didn't pick OSU, no need to badmouth him. You win some, you lose some. Then you move on.
  • ytownfootball
Unfortunately for Seantrel, his old man has created a package deal that screams problems. Not his fault, but guilt by association, too bad too.

If you read the posts...the vast majority are saying (and the rest are implying) that Henderson's DAD is nothing but trouble.

No one has said anything negative about the kid.

A little reading comprehension goes along way.....or are you just looking for a way to 'blast' Buckeye fans??

    Do you not comprehend posts?

Its his father who is creating the problems not Seantrel.

I understand that, but he's now being labeled as sort of a package deal, it's not like this is some new relevation. OSU fans wanted him before along with his dad, and how they are nothing but trouble.

His dad might have his issues, and it might be best he's going elsewhere, but just yesterday the risk seemed worth the reward.

More of the same from you...SMH...

Do you even SEE the circus that is now laid before your all wondering eyes?

Does anyone know what his father even does for a living?

    Serious question.

His dad sounds kind of like a douche.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Seantrel though.
  • jhay78
Or is Seantrel's mother any part of this process?

Sorry, but don't know much about the kid's family background.

If he doesn't go to USC I'll gladly take him at OSU. Dad can try all he wants to grab the spotlight but JT won't let it affect his program.

Reading this article, I am not so sure OSU ever had a chance. On front page of cnnsi now.

There is no question that USC would be attractive to any person Henderson's age. You have a former NFL defensive coordinator (Monte Kiffin), a former NFL head coach (Lane Kiffin), a former D1 Head coach who was in a movie (Orgeron), a former NFL defensive coordinator as a LB coach (Berry), and a few other assistants with NFL experience that I have never heard of.

The Kiffins and Orgeron are all very outgoing as well. Not many colleges can compete with all that NFL experience. I love Ohio State but counteracting Monte Kiffin with Dick Tressel just isn't going to win you alot of recruiting battles...

^^great point,jordo--it's tough to pass on USC if they REALLY want you--especially if you're a 17 year old with NFL talent and aspirations

Not sure I buy into all that NFL stuff. Many other staffs have NFL experience all over. It didn't always work for Weis. It didn't work for Al Groh. Not only that, Kiffen did it for one year, and was fired, along with being looked at as an absolutely joke by most of the NFL players he coached.
I think much of the Henderson thing goes back to Pete Carrol. As mentioned, he was pretty serious about them before Carrol left. Having lunch on the "beach"! ;)
I am still not so sold on Kiffin. He hasn't proven anything, at any level as a head coach. (except that he is an idiot). Now he is coming on the coat tails of Carrol, who actually had more to do with most of the recruits then Kiffin did. All he did was come in and shore up those that had committed already, and grab a couple extra.

that's my point, his coaching ability is unproven, but his recruting prowess is unparalleled. the key statement in your post is "and grab a couple extra" when's the last time OSU had a true surprise commitment or even a kid that had verballed to a school, then a coaching change happened or some other turmoil and that kid came to OSU? Tressell is a coach, but kiffin is a snake oil salesman and can bring in these kids.

another flaw (potentially) of JT's is that he likes kids that fit the mold of what he wants to do. kiffin wants the best kids. I don't think it's a flaw, but you will lose out on some big names by doing that.

It's not who you get, but what you do with who you get......I don't think you can compare Kiffin to Tressell in any way, shape or form.....there is no comparison.

What, exactly, has Kiffin done? I mean, besides piss off the NCAA and every school in the SEC in a matter of 14 months?

you realize you're agreeing with me?

Tressel wants the best kids that want to be a part of his system and this team's tradition. Kiffin just wants the best kids.

wkfan--good point--USC is one of a few schools that recruits itself--the campus, the weather, the girls, the media exposure--the coach is the icing on the cake, and Petey did a nice job enhancing the pastry.
