Is Urban Meyer a joke?
-
WriterbuckeyeHad Meyer simply told the truth from the get-go, none of this would be happening.
He tried to hide the issue for some reason, and that reason was most certainly connected to his job and its ultimate success.
Otherwise, why not simply say: I was taken to the hospital last night and there are some health issues I have to deal with. I'll have more to say when things get sorted out.
Then keep your mouth shut until you actually know what you want/need to do, and tell recruits that's what you're doing. Don't backtrack when one or two start to reconsider what they want to do.
He has gone back & forth, up & down, and all over the map with this thing. I'm pretty sure (coming from a PR/media relations background) that much of it is because he has gotten advice contrary to common sense by someone, or more than one, with Florida.
Or perhaps his boss pressured him to equivocate his statements to keep the recruiting class together; or put pressure on him because of his expensive contract.
Whatever.
In any case, he has handled this VERY poorly and the lies weren't necessary. -

Florida's AD and president wanted him to stay away, even after he said he was only taking a leave. Really, some of you need to get over this, it's laughable.Writerbuckeye wrote:He has gone back & forth, up & down, and all over the map with this thing. enigmaaxI guess I just don't see any obligation for him to reveal his personal health information. But, maybe I missed it; I saw him mostly avoiding details on the health - the speculation and "answers" came from other parties. Do you generally make public announcements about your health issues? Would you want millions of strangers talking about your personal business?
He did make a decision. Then he changed his mind. You've never done that? Have you ever even had to make such a critical decision that would impact so many different lives?
And everything else you say is your own made up nonsense. Florida's administration has basically told him to do whatever he needs and they'll save his spot. Nothing indicates any pressure about an expensive contract or fear of losing a recruiting class. Nobody involved has mentioned either one of those things. Florida wants Meyer as its coach. Meyer wants to coach there. Meyer has some health problems that he needs to balance in order to do the job. Is there a book that tells a person exactly how to handle that situation? -
rocket31anyone who changes their mind is a liar. FACT

0311sdpWhy anyone other than Florida fans administation, and alumni give a shit about what Urban Meyer does or says is beyond me.

WriterbuckeyeSimply saying you went to the hospital and have health issues -- and aren't releasing anything more until it's sorted out -- is NOT revealing anything specific.
It's buying you time so you don't have to lie or make yourself look like an indecisive idiot down the road. -
lhslep134^^ Are you seriously that ignorant, really? Just google Urban Meyer health issues and you'll read that it's been documented about the brain cyst, and is the 911 call not enough for you?

TiernanHe's well enough to hang out at (2) Gator B-ball games this past week. That cyst must really be killing him.
