Yea bad games happen, but it's happened multiple times this season. 4/9 for 36 yards against NIU with 2 ints is by far his worst.SportsAndLady;1757905 wrote:He had a bad game. It happens.
I wouldn't say someone's a future HOFer if he has one great game so I probably wouldn't post what you posted after he's had a bad one.
I would be okay with JT starting mainly because he does seem to fit this offense better than Cardale. But Cardale is by no means "bad" or "bad because he has someone behind him and he can't take the pressure."
I mean I don't know, I like you I watch the games and Saturday night when JT played the offense was on fire moving the ball at will up and down the field. Outside of a few penalties the offense was perfect when JT played. What Dale did last year will forever be amazing, but coaches have tape on him now and it's starting to show. Sorry for holding our qb to a higher standard, I guess I expect more from an urban Meyer lead team.

AutomatikRead the article I posted.
What happened when Cardale struggled and JT came in? He also sucked. Yet people want to create drama and act like "omg I told you so! JT is the guy!!" I've been seeing some really dumbass shit posted by our fellow OSU fans on social media.
JT let the game come to him yesterday and made great decisions. That, along with just being able to command the offense better, ar what sets him apart IMO. -

You're right, it's only the last 2 weeks where JT has really played like the QB we all think he can be. I really think that's because they tried to switch the offense this year to match Cardale and when JT came in it was that same philosophy on offense, which takes away a lot of JTs strength, which is running the ball. Combine that with JT wanting to prove himself and you have him pushing too much. Now we've seen what happens when they let JT play his game, and he's tearing shit up. I don't think Cardale is a bad QB at all, but the O line has struggled in pass protection and they don't have a true deep threat so it's killing his game. It's been frustrating as hell to watch the offense struggle to start every game though.Automatik;1757951 wrote:Read the article I posted.

AutomatikYeah, I think this is a turning point. I'll be very surprise if JT isn't named the starter for Saturday.

TiernanAnybody that actually knows something about football (many here DONT) know both these guys are talented QBs but their styles and abilities suit different type offenses. W/O a corps of legit deep threat (25 yds +) receivers, JT is the logical choice to run the Read Option. Urban knows this and the 12 for 12 red zone conversion factor will be the decider. He kept hoping some of the hybrids (Braxton included) would develop into vertical threats but they haven't. Time to bite the bullet and go with what is working. You're All Welcome for the Tutorial.

Cardale is simply the better passer, especially the ability to throw a deep pass accurately. The reality is, the current offense is not really about passing and we don't have an NFL receiver outside of Thomas to throw the ball to. Cardale is more of the pocket passing QB whereas JT has a better handle on the read option type offense.lakeflyerMike;1757890 wrote:What makes you think Dale is the better qb? He graded out at -2.3 on Saturday and Hackenburg who we'd all agree is garbage graded at -2.5. He can't take the pressure of having someone standing behind him better and it's obvious.

AutomatikI wouldn't say Cardale is more accurate. He's been under-throwing deep balls lately. 6'5" 250 and a cannon for an arm is what sets him apart from JT. NFL scouts know this.

JT 230/358 64.2 % 38 tds 12 ints
CJ 150/243 61.7 % 14 tds 7 ints
I'd never consider CJ a better passer, he may be able to throw the ball deeper then JT but imo definitely not a better passer.

Mostly because JT got to play 11 games last year with a top tier WR group and JT rarely airs it out deep unlike Cardale.lakeflyerMike;1758026 wrote:Career stats

The only reason Dale airs it out is bc he cant read a damn defense, that's all he can do. He doesn't fit the offense, last year when 3 teams had zero time to watch Dale's tape he did amazing things. Coaches figure this shit out over time...and right now their on him.sleeper;1758045 wrote:Mostly because JT got to play 11 games last year with a top tier WR group and JT rarely airs it out deep unlike Cardale. -

Cardale is a national champion and undefeated at QB. Tell me more about how he can't read a defense.lakeflyerMike;1758049 wrote:The only reason Dale airs it out is bc he cant read a damn defense, that's all he can do. JT earned that ring also.sleeper;1758051 wrote:Cardale is a national champion and undefeated at QB. Tell me more about how he can't read a defense.
So you forgot how Zeke ran for 600+ in those 3 games last year?

I didn't see JT beat 3 ranked teams in a row on the way to a National Title. Must have missed that.lakeflyerMike;1758052 wrote:JT earned that ring also.

I already stated I think JT is the better QB for this system and this team. Cardale is overall the better QB though; but he clearly doesn't run the read option as well as JT.Automatik;1758053 wrote:This discussion sucks. I'm making a Rutgers thread. -
AutomatikI'm with you. I'm just ready to move on with JT running the show and destroying everyone. Love Cardale for what he did for us last year, but he's gone after this year and we still have JT for another year (possibly 2).

I really believe Urban was torn between the two but went with Cardale to try to help him in the NFL whereas JT has another year or two before he will leave.Automatik;1758092 wrote:I'm with you. TiernanWhere does everyone get this BS that Urban was "trying to help Cardale get to the NFL"? I guarantee you the Urban's first, second and third priorities are to win football games and titles at Ohio State he isn't sacrificing any efficiency just to help guys get into the NFL. I truly believe he thought the Off could operate as well as last year under Cardale but the lack of legit WRs hurt that from happening. WHY ISNT EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT BRAXTON HAS BEEN INSTEAD!?!
-
AutomatikCardale was given the nod because he took the majority of first team snaps leading up to the season.
I'm happy with Miller's season. It's his first year a a completely new position. He has 5 TDs. -

Both QBs are good so he had to have some sort of tiebreaker. sleeperAlso Braxton is a big time player and is making a heavy impact at the H-back. He's definitely earning himself a spot in the NFL.
-
TiernanDirect snaps to Braxton have been horrendous. He cannot run between tackles but they keep trying to do it and all he does is stutter step and get dropped for losses. His success has come on the edge with the come back bubble pass or slants from the slot. Making him into a legit deeper threat is possible but doesn't seem to be in the works.
