That half assed family shit isn't going to be winning National titles with Michigan putting a respectable product on the field.
We need the Florida version of Meyer back that cared so much he didn't sleep and lost 30 pounds in a season.
That guy really wanted it. We need him back. -
se-alumI think Harbaugh is a good coach, but he was 8 games over .500 at Stanford with what is likely a future Hall of Fame QB. UM has a long way to go. The next few years will definitely be interesting.

Yeah, but at UM he'll have a perennial power contending for a championship.se-alum;1690275 wrote:I think Harbaugh is a good coach, but he was 8 games over .500 at Stanford -

Stanford sucked a big back of dicks before he showed up. The 5 season before he showed up Stanford was 16-40. Saying he was "only" 8 games over .500 is a little bit of fun with #s. It's technically true but it's disingenuous. And it's not like Luck was throwing to all world receivers or had studs anywhere else on the team. And look what happened with Shaw his first 3 seasons with what Harbaugh left him (34-7). And his 4th year (this year) with his recruits now solidly in place and Jims gone, he's 7-5 and trending down.se-alum;1690275 wrote:I think Harbaugh is a good coach, but he was 8 games over .500 at Stanford with what is likely a future Hall of Fame QB. I hate JH. But he's a good coach and he'll turn UM around. Maybe not 10 wins next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's that quick. -

The best thing was that a day or so earlier he posted, but no one responded to him, so he had to do it again, but more over-the-top, so he could get his attention on this thread.Automatik;1690273 wrote:trollololol

thavoiceDont forget he did well for the San Diego Torrero's as well. Actually went to a game out there when they hosted Dayton.
He will immediately come in and make Michigan better. You will see immediate improvement. Doesnt mean they will be favorites to contend OSU for the B10 title next year, but they will be much better and contend within 3 years. -

That sounds about right. He's already missed out on most of the top HS seniors, no? So if his first real recruiting class is a year away, then give those guys maybe 2 years to become players. With Hoke clearly on the ropes this year that really had to hurt recruiting, I would think.thavoice;1690419 wrote:...but they will be much better and contend within 3 years.
I think his immediate impact will be a better prepared, better coached team. UM is hardly devoid of talent, but probably not many guys left unsigned that could make a difference next year. -

I don't think Harbaugh is going to make Michigan good enough to beat OSU, even in 3 years. Urban is bringing in the talent by the truckloads and is doing all of this while missing out on a few scholarships per year. Good luck to Michigan but at best your #2 in the conference.gut;1690439 wrote:That sounds about right. He's already missed out on most of the top HS seniors, no? That is the old way of thinking.......more HS players are ready to make an immediate impact now than ever before. I realize I said 3 years as well but I think he can give OSU a run within 2 seasons. If he lands the right ones he can speed up your timeline. I dont follow the recruiting process. Seems a bit creepy how some people almost stalk these HS kids and the decisions they make on where to go. I imagine there are enough kids out there that he can still make a bit of a splash. He has alot going for him....already a college coach who sent guys to the NFL and a NFL star coach. That will look good to many big time recruits.gut;1690439 wrote:That sounds about right. Midstate01I think harbaugh is a great coach. He will definitely make a difference. BUT the problem here is he's likely only a bandaid because the nfl is going to continue to come knocking. He will eventually leave for the nfl. BUT he will leave the program in the best shape it's been in over 12 years.

Midstate01Oh one other thing. There is no window of 2 or 3 years. If he's making 8+ million. Then he must win and win now. Michigan has to be in the playoff pretty much every year for that contract to be good. Making 3 mil more than saban and more than meyer and miles combined is pretty crazy money.
Also those 3 guys are probably smiling and so are their agents. -

I'll bet anyone on this forum a house in Ann Arbor that Harbaugh will never make the playoffs as long as Urban Meyer is at Ohio State.Midstate01;1690458 wrote:Oh one other thing. Number 1 or Number 2 in the conference, in the playoffs or just bowl eligible. Either way , the alumni that forced these changes are getting exactly what they wanted. Nothing else was going to satisfy them other than the AD being gone and Harbaugh being brought in. Their demands were very clear back in September.
Thus far they are getting what the demanded. -

Nah. Michigan knew they needed to overpay for a top flight coach to turn around the program. Right now it is in shambles and people dont even want to attend the games. They knew they had to go at him hard and that is the figure they had to go with. If he can bring them into prominence within a few years and make the playoffs within 4, it is a win. Now...if they move to 8 teams then yeah, he needs to get in a couple of times. If he shows the improvement the $$$$$ will flow in from boosters and make that 8 million well worth it.
If Harbaugh cannot bring the program back.........then the university may implode! -

Depends on how you define success/winning. He will win right away. In the playoff hunt is realistically 3 years away. While there's talent out there unsigned, it's probably mostly of the redshirt variety. And while true freshman studs can be impact players, they aren't normally impact championship players until a sophomore. So that's 3 years. Assume this recruiting class is currently pretty shitty for obvious reasons, and let's just call it 3+ years because it's not like he doesn't still have stiff competition in recruiting.thavoice;1690450 wrote:That is the old way of thinking.......more HS players are ready to make an immediate impact now than ever before. -
se-alumDelaney projecting 50 million to each with the impending TV contract. No reason every B1G school can't go out and pay for good head coaches and staff.
-
FatHobbitI'm not sure Harbaugh has to wait on any recruiting classes. Schools like Michigan always have talent. I won't be surprised if they are competitive right away. Maybe not in the playoffs the first year, but in the hunt for the division title.
-
FatHobbitI just looked at the um depth chart and they have 1 senior on offense (Gardner is a big piece, but they still have a lot back),3 on defense and they lose both kickers. They will have plenty of talent to work with.

There was a scout on Cowherd's show a few weeks back. He said he had never seen such a lack of talent on a Michigan team. Now it could be that there is talent there that just wasn't developed, but they don't even have a valid QB on the roster right now.FatHobbit;1690491 wrote:I'm not sure Harbaugh has to wait on any recruiting classes. Lovejoy1984I don't think even a "Michigan Man" would claim there to be any semblance of talent on that team, outside of a few players. As most others have said, barring a miracle flip or two this year, this team is a good 3 years from competing for playoffs/conference titles.
Harbaugh alone should keep them some what relevant in the role of spoiler, especially against the Rivals, until some talent can be brought in. -

Dont forget, 5 of the last 8 heisman winners were soph or frosh so yeah, a young player can have a huge impact.gut;1690480 wrote:Depends on how you define success/winning. He will win right away. WHen they see improvement quickly, top flight recruits wanting to come to michigan, competing and giving OSU a game and beating them, they will be patient. The $$ will roll in right away, and keep coming when he wins.
I expect the big ten to be a two horse race for a number of years with OSU and UM. Maybe some other team slips in there from time to time but this will only make the conference better.
Now, this is for down the road when both OSU and Michigan are national mainstays..............
Does the big ten keep both of them in the same division and playing in the last game? I know they will keep them in the last game, but I expect both teams to dominate, and be like the SEC. If they are in diff divisions they could meet in the big ten champ game. But why should the best two teams always be in the same division? When OSU and Michigan come into the game undefeated, one loses and misses ot in the in B10 champ game I doubt they get into the playoff. -

WebFireFew things...
1. The contract is for 7 years. I'm sure it's structured to try and keep him there.
2. It's not 8 million per year base. It's around 8 with incentives. And if he's making the incentives, he's probably worth the 8.
3. There is more talent on the roster than people want to think. Hoke staff was absolutely terrible at developing them. I wouldn't be surprised to see success earlier rather than later. But being realistic, 2015 could still be an 8-4 while they get this thing kicked into gear.
4. No man, even Harbaugh, is a guaranteed success. The work still needs to be done.
