They would win the SEC East every year.Iliketurtles;1673667 wrote:And they won a BCS bowl that year. It's really amazing looking back at that season at what they have done since. Pretty crazy how far they have fallen. -

Nebraska finishes with Wisky, Minnesota, and Iowa. Win all 3 of those convincingly and they should be top 10. But it's Nebraska. And it's Bo Pelini.Heretic;1673670 wrote:As to this week's rankings, I'd say the worst thing for Ohio State is that Nebraska dropped three spots due to...uh...having a bye. They didn't pass the high-ranked teams that lost, but fell behind a couple lower-ranked teams that won.
In my opinion, to make the playoff, Ohio State needs more strong wins. Having Minnesota move into the Top 25 helps, as I wasn't expecting them to even really register as much of a blip on the radar, but I was really hoping for Nebraska to win out to be a Top 10 or better team by the Big 10 championship game, so they could really give a boost.
So they will beat the first 2 and then get smoked by Iowa. -

Anyone read Mark May's thoughts, where he referred to Alabama over LSU (in OT) as a "big win?"
http://247sports.com/Bolt/May-Buckeyes-Wont-Pass-Enough-One-Loss-Teams-to-Make-Playoff-32779762
“If you look at Ohio State … we thought Michigan State was a good football team with their one loss going to Oregon. We found out that it doesn’t matter because they still lost to a Pac-12 team,” May said. “And in the Pac-12, if Arizona State, with a big victory over Notre Dame, and Oregon end up with one loss, play in the Pac-12 Championship there will be a team from the Pac-12 with one loss.
“Big 12 conference, TCU, Baylor — at least one of those teams will end up with one loss, maybe two,” May said. “Alabama’s big win at LSU, they beat Mississippi State there will probably be two teams from the SEC with one loss. Florida State from the ACC, they’ll end up undefeated.
“So you look at the teams from the other conferences, Power Five conferences, that will have better records, or at least equal records with playing tougher schedules,” May said. “The Big 10 Conference is probably the second-weakest conference. And I’ve got two words left to tell you: Virginia Tech, from the weakest of the five conferences.” -

So my point went entirely over your head. Are you actually that dumb or just pretending to be?believer;1673599 wrote:right....and then this happened:

Wrong. Just wrong.Classyposter58;1673663 wrote:LSU lost a ton the previous season, reminds me a lot of the 2014 Buckeyes on how they improved over the course of the year. They had a hell of a front 7 on that team and Flynn with Doucet and LaFell were tough to stop
LSU didn't "improve through the course of the year" they were ranked preseason #2 and week 2 went to #9 V-Tech and SMOKED them, cementing themselves as the best team in the country. Then they suffered through some injuries that cost them close overtime victories before righting the ship before the SEC title game.
When healthy, LSU was clearly the best team in the country that year.
So dumbassposter58, let me ask you: do you enjoy making stuff up and talking out of your ass or do you actually believe what you're saying? -
Azubuike24Both OSU and LSU back doored their way into the title game that year. Isn't this the same year West Virginia about had it locked, but choked at Pitt? I had thought UK ruined LSU's chances...but they inched back up to the top.

Lovejoy1984Not that it matters at all.
But Trevor Mattich from ESPN, has OSU 4th in his playoff bracket, he of course was openly mocked by the host, and McShay about it, but thought was interesting to see an ESPN guy go against the grain. -

I remember LSU being locked into OT that year and we were at a high school basketball opener and hardly anyone was in the gym watching the game but the concession stand area had 2 tv's that were just packed and when LSU finally lost it went nuts.....then it didn't matter lolAzubuike24;1673788 wrote:Both OSU and LSU back doored their way into the title game that year. Haha they had that beast 5'7" QB I think, and Aqib Talib as well. They had a terrible schedule but won most games pretty convincingly and lost to #3 Mizzou but actually won the Orange Bowl over Va Tech back when they were actually goodHeretic;1673665 wrote:That is insane. They've always been a mediocre at best program and now are the utter dregs of the five major conferences, but were ranked 3/4 in the county and even had an AP first-place vote. Man, I'd forgotten all about that. I remember a ways back when 8-5 was a reason to celebrate out there. -

Oregon, Florida State, Alabama and TCU would pretty much cover every region of the country except the midwest and include representatives of 2 of the 3 biggest states. Given that it's the first playoff, I doubt they have a problem with TV ratings.ccrunner609;1673874 wrote:ESPN knows there is more money to be made if OSU is in this thing -

3 of the those 4 schools are from the south. How does that cover every region of the country?Azubuike24;1673880 wrote:Oregon, Florida State, Alabama and TCU would pretty much cover every region of the country except the midwest and include representatives of 2 of the 3 biggest states.
