Really? How does a 4th ranked team get blown out by ASU?
  • Tiernan
Well it proves FSU sure ain't a top 4 - they didn't really beat ND and AZ St isn't that good either. FSU just happens to play a schedule worse than any B1G team. They may not be as good as even Marshall for all we know.

no they actually did beat ND. i dont see FSU losing to the last place team in the ACC.

    No they didn't...the refs did.

i guess according to Tiernan rules of football there is no penalty for offensive pass interference. but in the real world there is, so ND lost fair and square . get used to it.

    TCU in the top 4

Oregon jumps Florida state. Like that

OSU at 8th not able to jump Baylor
  • Terry_Tate
Nebraska didn't even play and dropped from 13th to 16th. SMH.
  • Footwedge
Buckeyes need a whole bunch of things to go right from here on out. Miami is the slightest of slight underdogs against FSU this week and the Bucks will leap over the Seminoles only if Miami blows them out by 14 points plus. Alabama needs a second loss. Could come from either MSU or Auburn. The tide is simply not as good as advertised. If Miss State loses to Alabama, but finishes with only one loss, forget about it....2 SEC teams.

Highly unlikely that the bucks leap over TCU and Baylor, unless they blowout NBebraska by 50...wouldn't hurt to pound Minnesota this weekend either.

Another scenario which could help is if Arizona upsets ASU (could happen) and then Oregon gets upset in the PAC 10 title game.

A lot of possibilities for the Bucks, but a whole lot of shit needs to fall right.

The committee says head to head matters.

TCU ranked above Baylor. Clearly, head to head matters.

    This

And a couple weeks later LSU dropped to #7 I believe and I think played one game and made it to championship game.

    right....and then this happened:
2008 Allstate BCS National Championship Game
    BCS Bowl Game
    LSU Tigers Ohio State Buckeyes
    (11–2) (11–1)
    38 24
...and then the year before that this happened:
2007 Tostitos BCS National Championship Game
    BCS Bowl Game.
    Florida Gators Ohio State Buckeyes
    (12–1) (12–0)
    41 14

Buckeyes had no business being in 2008 NCG

I think it's part of this site's "old people have to be right! even when they're wrong!" philosophy that Footnan/Tierwedge have essentially lived off of during the duration of this site.

"They need an unthinkable cosmic miracle to make the playoff!!!!"

"You mean like a few years ago when they went from 7th to the BCS championship game almost overnight?"

"Uh...well...yeah...BUT THEY FUCKING LOST THAT CHAMPIONSHIP, DIDN'T THEY SMART GUY????"

    lol

I remember when Miami was an 11.5 point favorite in 2003.

I think the most amazing thing about this is that at one point in time Kansas football was once 10-0 and ranked in the top 5. NOW THAT IS CRAZY!

But yeah believer is just being his typical OSU troll self by posting the scores of the NC game.

ETB Who should have been in the 2008 NCG game then is OSU had no business being there?

I'm talking more along the lines of their talent level. In no way, in my opinion, was that team a title contender.

Disagree. OSU was definitely deserving and had the talent to beat LSU.

LSU lost a ton the previous season, reminds me a lot of the 2014 Buckeyes on how they improved over the course of the year. They had a hell of a front 7 on that team and Flynn with Doucet and LaFell were tough to stop

That is insane. They've always been a mediocre at best program and now are the utter dregs of the five major conferences, but were ranked 3/4 in the county and even had an AP first-place vote. Man, I'd forgotten all about that. I remember a ways back when 8-5 was a reason to celebrate out there.

And they won a BCS bowl that year. It's really amazing looking back at that season at what they have done since. Pretty crazy how far they have fallen.

As to this week's rankings, I'd say the worst thing for Ohio State is that Nebraska dropped three spots due to...uh...having a bye. They didn't pass the high-ranked teams that lost, but fell behind a couple lower-ranked teams that won.

In my opinion, to make the playoff, Ohio State needs more strong wins. Having Minnesota move into the Top 25 helps, as I wasn't expecting them to even really register as much of a blip on the radar, but I was really hoping for Nebraska to win out to be a Top 10 or better team by the Big 10 championship game, so they could really give a boost.
