MARCH MADNESS 2014 - NCAA Tourney Thread

  • reclegend22
After last year's brutal loss to Ohio State in the second round and the injury to Niang this year, during a season in which the Cyclones were primed for a national championship run, Iowa State deserved to advance today. I feel great for Fred Hoiberg and nothing for Roy Williams.

Shocking you would feel that way

If Mercer would just get a damn stop, they would be right back in this thing.

I kind of like UCLA over Florida if the Bruins advance. Kyle Anderson is just something you can't really prepare for.

Damn that's a good stat... All of Tennessee points have come from their starters so far tonight.

I'd guess GRIII and McRae will match-up. Richardson on Stauskas. The real match-up disadvantages will be Maymon having to guard LaVert and Morgan having to guard Stokes.

    Definitely two opposite styles...very opposite.

Baylor is giving it to Dougie early. Love this.

Baylor's zone is suffocating Creighton. Shades of the Providence game in the first half. They can't even get Dougie the ball. To make matters worse, the Bears are 5-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Lol so funny that last garbage basket is the only points scored by the Tennessee bench.

61 points and 45 rebounds for Stokes this week. I'd say he's the first weekend MVP...

    Dude has been awesome.

Fucking time warner. Getting the TruTV is currently unavailable message.

Baylor is such a sporadic team. They either get blown the fuck out or play like a national title contender. If only Scott Drew had the ability to harness that potential and get it out of his players regularly. Because he doesn't have that ability, Baylor is not a legitimate threat to win it all.

I could easily seem them in the Elite Eight, though. They are riding quite the hot streak right now with 12 wins in 13 games.

    26-9 Baylor.

Creighton could lose by 25+. Just position Wragge at half-court and hope he gets hot. Creighton isn't beating this zone, especially with McDermott on the bench in foul trouble.

not making 3's and not making lay-ups...

Creighton heats up and Baylor cools off a little and this game will tighten up.

and now he missed another lay-up

That's pretty much the definition of how that call is supposed to be called this year and they got it wrong.

Dude slid in after the Baylor player was making his upward movement. Really bad call.
  • Azubuike24
Dude, this is Baylor. Scott Drew is the coach. They lost 8 of 10 at one point. It's not over until it's over...

"don't shoot it unless you're all alone underneath the basket"

Should have been #3 on Dougie. That was a charge.
  • wildcats20
    That was on Dougie too.

It's not just that they're not making threes, it's that Baylor's extended zone pressure isn't allowing any good looks. McDermott's only 3-point attempt was a no-look shot from the corner with two hands in his face. And he air-mailed it.

Creighton needs to penetrate the zone and open up some looks on the outside. But, as you said, even when they have gotten the ball inside the key, they can't hit shit.

Baylor now 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. The Bears were 2-of-13 against Nebraska.

SFA just picked up three fouls in two seconds of game time

Really the story of the first half....Baylor has been unconscious.

A cheap shot from a Creighton player? Never.
