tOSU vs. USNA

Pick6Obviously the team has work to do. Loved what I saw out of JT Barrett. At the end of last season, I was hoping Miller would (attempt) to go pro. The Buckeyes won't win a championship with Miller behind center. They can with a championship with a QB like JT Barrett. Meyer has a tough decision to make come next season.
-
TiernanCan't believe we agree on something Picky. Barrett is going to get better. Miller had peaked IMO...and it wasn't a high caliber peak.

AutomatikNot overly impressed with the game yesterday, but of course I'll take it. I'd like to think the defensive issues were due to the gimmick offense ran by Navy.
I really don't know anything about this VT team, but I'm assuming we are in for a legitimate test. -

There will be no championship this year for OSU -

I just disregarded that post. -

Did I say anything about a championship this season?SportsAndLady;1649287 wrote:You can't be serious

Pick6Who's the last QB who hasn't been able to throw to win a NC? Miller has never won a meaningful game at OSU, unless you want to count the UM game as meaningful even though they are trash. He's not a great QB. The only reason he has had any success at the collegiate level is because of his running ability.
-
Con_AlmaOSU adjusted well at halftime to being too aggressive defensively. They did not want Reynolds to beat them and forced the ball to go to the slots more than most teams do. That strategy worked well as the game went on and the QB rushing numbers show it. That approach also lent to the turnovers which were a big hit to Navy including the missed field goal which might as well be the same as a turnover.
Navy's defense had a pretty good day considering the pressure they were able to put on the Bucks early.
Entertaining game in the end which is why I like following Navy football. -
TiernanNo Nat Champ but they can win the East of the B1G and then let the chips fall where they may in the Conf Champ. VT is a legit test - Defense needs to make a bigger step this week than the Off IMO.

But Barrett against Navy showed you that he has what it takes? LOLPick6;1649292 wrote:Who's the last QB who hasn't been able to throw to win a NC? I'm guessing by "hasn't been able to throw" you mean a dual threat QB. So, Tim Tebow...heard of him? -
TiernanIf Tebow didn't have Percy Harvin nobody would know who this turd is. He made Tebow and Tebow was exposed when Harvin left.
-

The comment wasn't implying all dual threat QBs. There are dual threat QBs that can manage to complete basic passes. You point out Tim Tebow (which I knew was coming). Well as bad as he was, he still completed 7% more of his passes than Miller against much better competition and was apparently good enough to get taken in the 1st round. Miller will go low round-undrafted.Automatik;1649296 wrote:But Barrett against Navy showed you that he has what it takes? LOL

AutomatikWho gives a shit where Tebow was drafted, where is he now? They both will share the same NFL fate.
Your comment regarding Barrett being able to take OSU to the promise land after one game, against Navy, blows my fucking mind. -
Pick6I tend to blow minds every now and then. Barrett will accomplish more in his career than Miller ever did. It's really not hard to beat when you look at quality. Barrett had the best debut out of any OSU QB since at least 2001 (per 11w), against arguably the best competition as well. Navy is a solid team.
-
AutomatikWhat are you basing these claims on? 11w? Are you aware if Millers career numbers? Unless you are taking about Big 10 titles and more...which Barrett very well could do. But I need to see more. MUCH more.
-
Pick6
The claims are my own. The debut stat is from 11w. I'm sure Miller's total TDs and rushing are great. I'm sure he has some high yardage passing games as well throwing to a wide open Devin Smith a few times. You aren't going to win anything of importance with a QB who can't throw. All Barrett has to do is win a B1G title, win a bowl game, any bowl game, and he will be more successful than Miller in my mind. I can see the potential Barrett has and have no reason to believe he won't realize it under Meyer. I've seen enough to be a believer, you want to see much more. That seems to be the disconnect.Automatik;1649310 wrote:What are you basing these claims on? 11w? Are you aware if Millers career numbers? Classyposter58Braxton was a 63% passer and a 1000 yard rusher last season. Any argument saying he isn't a great QB is moronic
-
AutomatikBut did you see Barrett's HS highlight tape? That pass to a wide open Smith? WOW!
-
vball10setEasy, fellas, a win is a win, and JT is our QB, not Brax...next...
-
HereticFrom my perspective, Barnett made one stupid mistake, but also made some good plays and didn't seem that over his head while playing a decent (ie: higher-tier than MAC/Sun Belt; lower-tier than a legit upper-division power conference foe) opponent. While the offensive gameplan generally was the most vanilla I've ever seen a Meyer offense run.
Decent building block, but no way I'd personally say this game was any sort of indication as to how good Barnett's career will be compared to Miller. I'll probably be able to formulate more of an opinion on that after the next few games where he'll be both playing quality opponents (to show how he's growing as a QB from week to week) and a gimme in Kent State where he'll hopefully be able to show more stuff (with hopefully a more open playbook since it's a weak opponent). -
SportsAndLadyI can already tell the constant comparisons of Barrett to miller is going to be the most annoying talk on here.
Every play will be an analysis of how Braxton would have done in the same situation.
Fuckin kill me -
Midstate01Agree with herteic. Va tech will be able to throw some things at him navy couldn't. Looking forward to seeing him progress.

I'm all for Barrett becoming a baller, so you won't see that from me. I just get a kick out of the talk like he's the 2nd coming when in reality, we don't know shit.SportsAndLady;1649342 wrote:I can already tell the constant comparisons of Barrett to miller is going to be the most annoying talk on here.
