Con_AlmaCould the remnants of Tropical Depression Cristobal impact this game? If it continues to strengthen into a hurricane would the remaining winds play a role in Saturday's game?

Instead of a 30 point blowout it will be 27. Wind would affect one field goalCon_Alma;1647179 wrote:Could the remnants of Tropical Depression Cristobal impact this game? If it continues to strengthen into a hurricane would the remaining winds play a role in Saturday's game? -
Con_Alma??? Only 30?? Sleeper has the Buckeyes up by 35 at halftime.

A win is a win and a loss is a loss. If Navy's goal is to only lose by a certain amount that's pathetic.Con_Alma;1647187 wrote:??? Only 30?? Sleeper has the Buckeyes up by 35 at halftime. -

???
Is that Navy's goal? I hadn't heard nor read that anywhere. Where do you hear/see that? -
DeyDurkie5
You should post the entire Google search to see if it's true or not. Just keep it under 10,000 charactersCon_Alma;1647190 wrote:???

Con_AlmaI wouldn't search for that. I don't have a reason to. I asked to affirm helloagain's willingness to offer his/her intent of offering such a post.

Why are you bringing up Sleeper's spread prediction? Seems to me like you're setting yourself up to take some moral victory when your team gets beat by less than a random internet forum poster said they would.Con_Alma;1647190 wrote:???

The amount the Buckeyes will win by has been a common point in this thread. Sleeper's projection is the most aggressive one.
There's is no "moral" victory for me in an athletic contest. It's simply entertainment. Ohio State could lose, win by 1 point or win by 65 and it would have the same value to me. It's just a game that I get entertainment following. It provides no ""ability to be victorious from a moral perspective at all. -
HelloAgainFun fact of the day: Navy has finished ranked exactly once in the last 40 years.
-
Con_AlmaI wouldn't expect this year to change that but 1978 and 2004 would be more than once.
-
IggyPride00
Exactly. They wouldn't be on the Buckeye schedule if they had even a remote chance of winning. Weather conditions will do nothing to affect this game.Instead of a 30 point blowout it will be 27. Wind would affect one field goal -

athlete37Those on here thinking OSU will win by 20-40 points should bet the house on the game. The spread is not even two touchdowns right now.

I wouldn't want to watch my favorite team get blown out either. Convenient right?Con_Alma;1646908 wrote:I won't be watching either the replay or this year's game, unfortunately. We don't reconnect cable until September 1st. -
Con_AlmaYou might not but I would watch them play an NFL team. You and I watch for different reasons apparently.
I'll be listening to it on the radio like I do most games. -
IggyPride00
As a general question, why does Buckeye honk get so bent out of shape when anyone dares to question the strength of the teams they're playing? It's pretty common knowledge they have the easiest path to the national title every year of any of the major contenders, yet you'd think they have to go through the SEC every year listening to people build up scrubs like Navy and such when someone dares suggest they suck.lol, you're even an idiot on OSU threads
Why is Buckeye honk always so defensive and touchy about the schedule issue? -
Con_AlmaI hope that's offered as an honest question. I don't know that anyone has tried to build up Navy anymore than what the team truly is. They're a service Academy that's probably the equivalent if an great FCS program who as far as the NCAA is concerned has been an FBS independent for many years for the purposes of promoting the Academy and generating revenue for the benefit of funding their other D1 sports.

Con_AlmaPregame match-up notes:
• Navy and fifth-ranked Ohio State will meet for the fifth time on the gridiron when they square off on Saturday afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium (71,008) in Baltimore. Kickoff is set for 12 noon with Under Armour serving as the participating game day sponsor. • The Midshipmen received two points in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll. Meanwhile, it's the 26th consecutive year that Ohio State has been ranked in the AP preseason poll, which is the best mark in the FBS. Oklahoma is the next closest, having been ranked 15 consecutive years.
• This will be just the second time that Ohio State has come East to play Navy. The two teams met in Baltimore in 1930 at old Municipal Stadium, with the Buckeyes coming out on top, 27-0. In the last meeting between the two schools, the 2009 season opener, Ohio State hung on for a 31-27 win when Brian Rolle picked off Navy's two-point conversion attempt with 2:23 remaining and returned it 100 yards for two points to give the Buckeyes the win.
• Navy's last victory over a team ranked in the top 25 came on Nov. 7, 2009, when the Mids knocked off #19 Notre Dame in South Bend, 23-21. Navy's last win over a team ranked in the top five was on Nov. 17, 1984, when it stunned #2 South Carolina, 38-21, in Annapolis.
• Saturday's game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce on the call. LaForce's uncle is a 1969 graduate of the Naval Academy and played football for the Midshipmen. He returned an interception for a touchdown in the 1968 Army-Navy game. -
Con_AlmaOSU Coming in:
• Ohio State had won 22 games in a row before dropping its final two games of the 2013 season, losing to Michigan State (34-24) in the Big Ten Championship Game and to Clemson (40-35) in the Orange Bowl.
• Despite losing starting quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Braxton Miller in the preseason, the Buckeyes are still considered to be one of the top teams in the nation. Ohio State is ranked #5 in the Associated Press Poll and #6 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.
• The Buckeyes are led on defense by what has been touted as the top defensive line in the country. Defensive ends Joey Bose (6-5, 278) and Steve Miller (6-3, 255) along with defensive tackles Adolphus Washington (6-4, 295), Michael Bennett (6-2, 288) and Tommy Schutt (6-2, 295) one the best defensive lines Navy has faced in the triple option era.
• Ohio State is expected to start redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett (6-1, 225) at quarterback. He will have a host of talented skill players to get the ball to, including running backs Ezekiel Elliott (6-0, 225), Rod Smith (6-3, 231) and Curtis Samuel (5-11, 196) and H-Backs Dontre Wilson (5-10, 188) and Jalin Marshall (5-11, 205). Tight end Jeff Heuerman (6-5, 255) is one of the top tight ends in the country. -
Con_AlmaNavy vs. The Big Ten:
• Navy is 54-60-4 (.475) all-time against teams currently in the Big Ten Conference and has won two straight, defeating Indiana in each of the last two years.
• The Mids will play host to Rutgers at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Sept. 20 in the Scarlet Knights' first year as a member of the Big Ten. -
Con_AlmaNavy in Season Openers:
• Navy is 8-4 (.667) in season openers during the "triple option era" (2002-present) and 3-3 in season openers under head coach Ken Niumatalolo.
• The Midshipmen are 0-3 when opening at a neutral site over the same time frame with losses to Maryland twice (2005, 2010) in Baltimore and Notre Dame (2012) in Ireland.
• Saturday's contest marks the fifth time in Niumatalolo's now seventh season in which Navy has opened its season away from its home field. -

I'll be listening on the radio. That's how I tune in to most sporting events anyway. I wouldn't even know where a sports bar might be. There's a BW3's about 40 minutes from me. I guess that would be the way to go. Not worth the hassle.Sonofanump;1647560 wrote:Too bad you don't live near a sports bar that has televisions.
WNAV is goo enough for me.
