Pryor is on pace to win 38 games as start of the Ohio State Buckeyes.karen lotz wrote:
Am I happy that the team wasn't more successful why he was there? Absolutely not. I am happy for him that he showed quite a bit of maturity over his time at ND and developed into a potential top 5 NFL draft pick.HighRoller74 wrote: His stats haven't been up to what we thought, but he's winning games, and at the end of the day, wins are what matters to me, and should be what matter to every fan. I could care less if Pryor ever dominates but if he continues to win 10 games a season, he's bound to go down as one of the greatest Buckeyes ever.
I pose the same Question to you about your boy Clausen.
Are you happy that he put up good stats, but only mustered 15 wins in 3 years?
You honestly think if Pryor continues at his current production level he will go down as one of the greatest Buckeyes ever?? Come on now. I'd say a lot of the wins have come as a result of the team around him and in spite of him.
The record is 44, held by Colt McCoy.
So yeah, if Pryor keeps up like hehas been, and improves like he did from last year, to this year, Pryor will be undoubtably one of the greatest players ever at Ohio State. -

Wins are important as a team, no doubt. There is no comparison between Pryor and McCoy as quarterbacks.HighRoller74 wrote: Pryor is on pace to win 38 games as start of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Yeah...well...if was relegated to just discussing comparisons to Tebow it would have dropped like a rock.Keebler wrote: Glad this thread got off topic so fast.

No, ND fans are not happy with the win total but you're comparing apples to oranges. ND's program was NO WHERE near the level of OSU's when Clausen assumed the starting QB duties. ND had/has a miserable defense and the depth levels were sorry.HighRoller74 wrote:I pose the same Question to you about your boy Clausen.

darbypitcher22yeah because McCoy looked like a stud against OSU in his 2nd game of his career at home....

Hahaha. That's laughable. Did you even watch him as a freshman, all 7 points they mustered against OSU, or the back to back losses to Kansas State and A&M that year?? He's clearly better than Pryor now, there's no comparison. He should be; he's got 3 years experience over Pryor.karen lotz wrote: McCoy as redshirt freshman, 1st year starter >> Pryor as true sophomore, 2nd year starter -

yep, sure did and he was still a much better quarterback than Pryor is right now. Are you really arguing that Pryor, as a quarterback, hasn't been a let down? Were there any NFL guys saying that McCoy should switch to wide receiver or tight end 3 or 4 games into his second season if he wanted a chance to play at the next lever??Red_Skin_Pride wrote:

darbypitcher22McCoy was in a MUCH different situation coming into Texas than Pryor was @ OSU.... McCoy was coming in on the heels of Vince Young and had to duel w/ Jevon Sneed for the job; Pryor knew coming in that Boeckman being a 5th year senior was sort of the incumbent; most figured he'd have a learning curve, that, after the debacle against Ohio in Wk 2 was undoubtedly sped up to try and get him ready for USC
-
dat dude^ Dumb point.
Was McCoy 6'6 240 lbs with a legit 4.4-4.5 40 time? The reasoning behind the position switch has just as much to do with Pryor's measureables and athletic ability as it has to do with his ability as a quarterback. -

Really? I remember most bucknutz claiming the second coming was on his way to columbus when he finally chose a school.darbypitcher22 wrote: McCoy was in a MUCH different situation coming into Texas than Pryor was @ OSU.... If he had a future in the NFL at quarterback, why would the Kiper's and McShay's of the world say if he wanted to be drafted at all he should switch positions?? It had everything to do with the fact that he made almost zero improvement in his ability as a quarterback. Weren't there increased expectations following the spring game, with everyone saying how much better he threw the ball and how his accuracy and awareness as a QB was so much better than his freshman year?dat dude wrote: ^ Dumb point.

How else was any fan supposed feel that won the Pryor lottery? He was HYPED as the second coming. Anyway...
Why so concerned? I don't get the steadfast railing of what is essentially a non issue? -
dat dude
But you compared McCoy's situation to Pryor's. They aren't comparable.karen lotz wrote:

My point is that if Pryor was 6'2 210 lbs with a 4.8 40 like McCoy, there would be no talk about switching positions. But because Pryor is a freak athlete, that topic will always be discussed. -
cats gone wildSo, yeah...........about the kid............neat story. He could probably beat Pryor out for his position as a 13 year old. Well, at least he probably throws a better ball. This topic went WAY off topic. And to add to everyones argument, Pryor is very, very, very over-rated against small 10 talent. To put him and McCoy in the same sentence is laughable.

Small 10 talent? Let me remind you the Big 10 has a winning record all time against the SEC.cats gone wild wrote: So, yeah...........about the kid............neat story. I didn't bring up McCoy, someone else said Pryor would go down as an all-time buckeye if he gets anywhere near the success that McCoy had.dat dude wrote: But you compared McCoy's situation to Pryor's. They aren't comparable.

My point is that if Pryor has shown any signs of being an elite quarterback, with his measureables (is that a word???), there would be no talk of switching positions. I'm not debating his athletic ability, I'd be a fool to do so. I'm saying he is a average quarterback at best. -

It's too bad that OSU can't contribute to the success the Big Ten has had.sleeper wrote: Small 10 talent? Let me remind you the Big 10 has a winning record all time against the SEC.
