All-American senior quarterback Tajh Boyd has thrown for 3,473 yards and 29 touchdowns on a Tigers offense ranked 12th nationally (502.9 yards per game). By comparison, Michigan and Michigan State — the schools that have gashed OSU for a combined 75 points and 1,000-plus yards the past two weeks — are 83rd and 84th, respectively.
“We’ve already began to look at [the defense],” said Meyer, who is 7-1 all-time in bowl games and 4-0 in BCS contests. “There are certainly some things that need to get fixed, and get fixed in a hurry. Look at what’s coming down the road here.”

next Sept. can't come soon enough. -
AutomatikSeriously...how the fuck we gonna stop Sammy Watkins?

Probably won't. Offense is going to have to put 40+ to win this game.Automatik;1551465 wrote:Seriously...how the fuck we gonna stop Sammy Watkins? -
TiernanIm waiting to see what kind of coach the old Urbie really is...if he can get this bunch up for this game to even be competitive I'll be impressed, but my gut tells me (the same gut that told me both scUM and MSU were going to be dogfights) tells me Meyer might be feeling what Jimmy the Liar felt after FL laid waste to us.

It'll be interesting to see how Coach Meyer does respond, since this is the first time he'd had to coach after a loss with this team. Saturday was a devastating loss, and it's natural for them to be deflated. He'll not only have to coach them up, but he'll have to rely on his assistants, as well as his seniors, to get this team up to play. I'm confident he can.Tiernan;1551504 wrote:Im waiting to see what kind of coach the old Urbie really is...if he can get this bunch up for this game to even be competitive I'll be impressed, but my gut tells me (the same gut that told me both scUM and MSU were going to be dogfights) tells me Meyer might be feeling what Jimmy the Liar felt after FL laid waste to us. -

AutomatikInterested to see what, if any, kind of defensive adjustments will be made. Will Pitt Brown even be allowed to put on his pads?

Love to see Vonn Bell get the nod...baptism by fire...sure as hell couldn't do any worse.Automatik;1551536 wrote:Interested to see what, if any, kind of defensive adjustments will be made. Will Pitt Brown even be allowed to put on his pads? -

Yeah, go for it. No red shirt, right?vball10set;1551540 wrote:Love to see Vonn Bell get the nod...baptism by fire...sure as hell couldn't do any worse. -
0311sdpIt's been a mystery all season why Vonn Bell and Eli Apple have not seen more playing time considering the poor play of Pitt Brown and Armani Reeves. I think the Buckeyes will be ready to play Clemson, this is Hyde and the O-Lines last game so they will want to play well. Hope Shazier comes back, physically he is not ready for the NFL (too small, no way does he weigh 230# maybe 210) Heard Miller is returning (that is great news if true) I do agree Fickell and Coombs need to seek employment elsewhere. The defensive problems are not personell they are schematic.
-
thavoiceAny chance that Fickell gets fired at all for this horrid defense?
He was the HC, albeit in a tough situation, when the team sucked, and now the def cost them a chance at the NC. Sure he was behind the 8ballwhen he was the HC, but still.
....and I am just waiting for the excuse if OSU loses that it was because they were just disinterested. -
AutomatikYou'll never hear that excuse from me and if they do look "disinterested" that's on Urb and Buckeye Nation will be pissed about it.
-
Me?Pitt Brown is a senior, he will and should play...though it certainly doesn't help our chances. I wish he and Armani Reeves wouldn't dress.
Pitt Brown is also from Gateway. Everyone I've ever seen from Gateway is a ***** in college. I hope we never recruit from their again. Anyone remember Shane Hale? Big time LB recruit, huge body, huge athleticism--was the next big thing? Ended up pulling out from being a Buckeye and going to Pitt I believe, never to be heard from again. I watched him play in high school when Gateway played Mooney and was pumped because of the hype...never seen a kid that big play that scared. Something in the water at that school, stay away Urban! -
Me?Shazier is gone. He's a 1st round pick regardless of whether you think he's NFL ready or not. Could easily put on 20 pounds before next season begins. He's already a projected 1st rounder, the combine would likely only make his stock rise quite a bit. I don't see much chance of him coming back, though I also hope that he does.
-
AutomatikI also think Shazier is gone, but you never know....could go out like Doss and come back for another run.

Me?
I sure hope so.Automatik;1551562 wrote:I also think Shazier is gone, but you never know....could go out like Doss and come back for another run. -
BigAppleBuckeyeTake away all the variables, and OSU wins this high-scoring something like 56-38.
That being said: OSU is extremely disappointed to be in this game, while Clemson is chomping at the bit for a marquee opponent like OSU.
I still think OSU wins, but I wouldn't be shocked if OSU came out flat and Clemson jumps on us. -

I think he's played in just about every game on special teams, so that's not an issue. -

Again, Fickell is not the only defensive coach. Everyone on that side of the ball, outside of maybe Vrabel, has to take responsibility for the poor defense. With that said, I think Fickell leaves or an HC job somewhere, so it's probably a moot point.thavoice;1551555 wrote:Any chance that Fickell gets fired at all for this horrid defense?

Shazier should go, but I'm worried about his chances in the NFL with his size. Not sure he could easily put on 20 pounds, as he hasn't added much weight in 3 years at OSU. Hopefully his speed will make up for the lack of size, but you don't see many small LB's make it in the NFL.Me?;1551560 wrote:Shazier is gone. TiernanIf Fickell gets a HC job it will be lower case - d1. No way even mid-tier take a chance on this guy.

Because he had one bad season as an HC with a team in turmoil?Tiernan;1551604 wrote:If Fickell gets a HC job it will be lower case - d1. No way even mid-tier take a chance on this guy. -
Me?
You didn't used to. It's a much different NFL these days too. His lighter body could make him very valuable in coverage against the passing offenses we see today. His size has never been a problem for him in college, don't see it being in the future. You've never seen him get trucked by a big back or have any noticeable problems getting off blocks. But I still think he could easily put on 20 pounds. The season doesn't start until September. He could put on 20 pounds by the end of January if he really wanted to, anyone could. Just because he hasn't at OSU doesn't mean he can't.se-alum;1551602 wrote:Shazier should go, but I'm worried about his chances in the NFL with his size. There are about 100 such jobs, hardly an insult if that's what you're trying to do.Tiernan;1551604 wrote:If Fickell gets a HC job it will be lower case - d1. No way even mid-tier take a chance on this guy.
