Uh, no he wasn't. Maybe better than Wiley and Harris. That would be it.ccrunner609;1545261 wrote:Clarrett should be ahead of Spencer, Snow needs to be farther up -
rydawg5In today's game I'd def take Hyde over Archie Griffin

But its all relative. What Archie was going against back in the day, is similar to what Hyde is going against in todays game. Not too mention, Hyde has the luxury of a multifaceted offense. And, a GREAT QB that defenses have to key on as well. Woody said Archie was the best football player he ever coached. Hard to argue against that guy.rydawg5;1545269 wrote:In today's game I'd def take Hyde over Archie Griffin
Don't get me wrong, Hyde is having a hell of a season. But some of these other guys, Archie, Wells, George...did it not just one season, but multiple ones. That's what separates them from others. -
se-alumLet's not act like Hyde just runs free because of the offense he's in. He breaks a lot of tackles, and is as quick to the hole as any OSU RB I've ever seen. I didn't get to see Archie play because I'm too young, but I'll take Hyde over any OSU back other than Eddie that I've seen play(since about '87).

Don't take what I said as if Hyde is not good or good because of what he has. IMO, he is one of the best, if not best back in country. He is a stud, no question. But to rate him as the best at OSU ever, is a stretch. He is a beast. I wouldn't trade a back in the country for him.se-alum;1545306 wrote:Let's not act like Hyde just runs free because of the offense he's in. Yea, there's no way I could say he's OSU's best back ever, because I'm too young to have watched a lot of them. Carlos Snow has always been my favorite OSU back, because he's the guy that was running during the period of my first OSU memories. I think Clarett probably could've been the best I've saw, but he screwed the pooch. Beanie and Hyde are both awesome, but surprisingly different runners despite the size comparison. Beanie was a great cutback runner, that resulted in big runs. Hyde is a straight ahead guy that hits the hole with a lot of speed and power. Both were great college backs, but I give the slight edge to Hyde.centralbucksfan;1545313 wrote:Don't take what I said as if Hyde is not good or good because of what he has. sleeperHyde is the best back in the country and he's the best back OSU's had since Clarett.

dwccrewWas at the game today. A few things I took away from this game.
1. Michigan came to play and played their best game of the year. Hats off to them, they executed their gameplan well and came up a few yards short of the upset.
2. Michigan fans are fairweather fans. Ohio State fans would never allow that many UM fans (or any team for that matter) to have that large of a precense in the Shoe. I have heard so many UM fans say they weren't going to watch or go to the game. They missed a thriller.
3. Fire Luke Fickell. As if the debacle that was 2011 and Fickell at the helm wasn't enough to prove this guy can't caoch, our defense gets torched for 603 yards. Fickell had no gameplan.
4. Michigan could have been a 1 loss team, possibly undefeated coming into this game had they played like this all season. They have better athletes on the offensive side of the ball than any other team in the conference outside of OSU IMO.
5. I think if OSU can get that defense together they can win the national title. If/when the Buckeyes defeat the Spartans next week, on to the National Championship game they go (no matter how bad ESPN doesn't want them in there, they won't get leapfrogged). F$U is so overhyped IMO. They have not beaten anyone. Clemson has been exposed. If OSU can beat MSU, that is better than any win F$U has had.
This season reminds me a lot of 2002. In both season Ohio State is underestimated by many. We have a second year coach. The Bucks have played down to their competition in quite a few games. We needed a late season loss to climb into the #1/#2 spot to get into the title game (as long as we win next week). And of course we would be a huge underdog to F$U, assuming both teams win out, in the title game just as OSU was to Miami in 2002.
I would love for OSU to beat F$U and shut the haters up. -
lhslep134For all those singing Carlos Hyde's praises, I can assure you Ka'Deem Carey would put up the same numbers in the same offense. Him and Hyde are extremely similar runners and I don't think one is distinguishable from another, ESPECIALLY to the point some are saying he's the best OSU runner ever.
Do not misinterpret that as severely downplaying Hyde's accomplishments or running ability; I'm only saying that if you watched Carey and Hyde closely for the last 3 years like I have, you'd notice there's not much of a difference there, only the offenses they're playing in.
And for the posters who will inevitably 'pooh-pooh' what I'm saying, watch some tape on Carey. Dude's a freaking beast in the same way Hyde is. -
Manhattan Buckeye"Carlos Snow has always been my favorite OSU back, because he's the guy that was running during the period of my first OSU memories."
LOL that's a name I haven't heard of in a long time. When he signed to OSU out of CAPE it was almost as if it was the biggest signing of all time - what we didn't know is that CAPE sort of sucked (Ironton, a DIV III school at the time was probably better) and Snow wasn't a Big 10 running back. -

Good post, thanks for the at-the-game insight....and my two cents: Pitt Brown got abused yesterday.dwccrew;1545326 wrote:Was at the game today. A few things I took away from this game.

LJPitt Brown and Joshua Perry were the biggest liabilities in covereage yesterday. My god. Perry takes like a 1 step drop into covereage then is chasing the play and Brown is just bad.

There has been zero improvement this year. -

No, but I think he leaves anyway so it doesn't matter. I think Withers is the first that needs to go. He calls the coverages.SportsAndLady;1545387 wrote:Now do you think fickell needs to go?

Let's also not forget that Heacock and Snyder defenses were also burned by Michigan screens over and over again. -

If he leaves, it would be the best thing to happen to the OSU people in charge of staffing. They don't have to fire him, he'll just leave.LJ;1545393 wrote:No, but I think he leaves anyway so it doesn't matter. I think Withers is the first that needs to go. He calls the coverages.

My response was to posts that were about how amazing Carlos Hyde is, and my post was implying he's not as amazing as people think. I see the relevance, but I guess it's OK if you don't.vball10set;1545366 wrote:

Hyde averages 2.5 ypc more than Carey. So just, no.lhslep134;1545408 wrote:My response was to posts that were about how amazing Carlos Hyde is, and my post was implying he's not as amazing as people think. I see the relevance, but I guess it's OK if you don't. -

Not ranked due to poor footage and I'm not as old as BRF: Cassady, Janowicz, Harley
Pretty much agree with this,...might flip Hyde and Byars...not sure pittman should be so highly ranked vs Spencer. Clarett doesn't make the list at all do due shortness of career and general assholeness. -
LJ
Hyde is the best back. He averaged 7.8 YPC in conference and 9.1 in November/ Gordon averaged 7.2 in conference and 6.1 in November.sportswizuhrd;1545419 wrote:Melvin Gordon, Wiscy 8.1 ypc

And Arizona faces a stacked box every time because Denker is nowhere near the threat that Braxton is throwing the ball.LJ;1545410 wrote:Hyde averages 2.5 ypc more than Carey. So just, no.
But yeah, I guess making any sort of comment that Hyde isn't a deity would be poorly received by you.
Auto, Carey put on a bunch of muscle this summer and the difference is now closer to ~10-15.

Hmm, Carey ranked ahead of Hyde, by someone other than me.
