Disagree, he definitely is not a joke

Amir isn't very good, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that watched his high school "highlights".

Amir isn't very good because he had high expectations. He was highly ranked, mostly because of his size and potential. It never panned out. Just like it doesn't with about half the big men in the college game. He's a player who will always have a job playing professionally, but who knows why.
  • vball10set
Amir just got yanked by Matta two minutes into the second half for 'lackadaisical play'...he's fricking pathetic.

    Yes, he is.

Russell had the most effortless 20+ point night I've seen by a buckeye I a long time. He was smooth tonight. They've played nobody, but they have potential to be really good later in the year.

I still think their bigs are the key to this season. If we can just get average play out of the combo of Williams, Lee, and McDonald they have the other pieces to be a really good team.

It's so similar to watching Harden's frosh year at ASU it's scary (one of my buddies was a freshman the same year as Harden and he told me like 2 games into the season how good he was going to be so I started watching; that's why I've been such a Harden supporter on the NBA threads).

The quick, smooth lefty release; the deceivingly strong hands on defense, and the ability to seamlessly help the offense even when he's not scoring.

I know Harden has become kind of a joke on defense in the NBA, but his freshman year at ASU he looked a lot like Russell's looking now.

This team is going to be a lot of fun to watch if Loving and Russell play like this every night. Excited to see what they do with some actual pressure, against some good teams.

Right now, the biggest strength is their unselfishness. No one took more than 13 shots last night, with about 5-6 players in the 6-8 shot range. Keep that distribution up when the teams get tougher and they'll be hard to beat.

JMU should be a decent test for OSU today.

I hope it's a more entertaining game, but I honestly think the only way it will be is if the Bucks don't play well. JMU is 4-1, but looking at scores from the Buckeye Classic, they edged both Colgate and Sacred Heart. And since OSU beat Sacred Heart by 58, man, it'd take some serious match-up mismatches or horrible play to keep this one close for too long.

JMU does get their best player back for this game, Andre Nation.

Amir definitely the weak link among our starters...he is so bad offensively.
  • se-alum
Buckeyes can flat out shoot the ball. Amir Williams is about a 10min a game guy, if that.
  • vball10set
Williams didn't even make an attempt to defend that alley oop-- he should sit the rest of the game for lack of effort alone...what a waste of a scholly.
  • Midstate01
I just wish Amir would try. Just give an effort. He'd be decent if he just did that alone.
  • Midstate01
Damn can Sam Thompson jump. Ridiculous.
  • se-alum
Kind of a disappointing effort today, imo. Got the big lead early, and looked disinterested for 3/4 of the game.

Didn't know that. Guess I don't pay enough attention to these low-level teams, other than checking their record and who've they'd played to catch minor details like who is on their roster, lol.

Exactly-his perceived disinterest is frustrating, and he has the worst hands of any big man I can remember.
