Ohio State Basketball Official Thread

The entire conference has 6 non conference top 50 rpi wins. 4 of those are from Umass.
But hey that's more than the AAC.
And Umass has 4 more of those than Lville..
I think it's a really good mid major league. Just not a major league.

A few years ago, some poll named a player from Temple as the mid-major player of the week. The commissioner of the A-10 threw a hissy fit. He refused to let the player accept the award and said in no uncertain terms that the A-10 is not mid-major. I agree with him. I ask you: When in history has any mid-major conference put four teams into the NCAA?

Generally A disagreement is because two people have opposing views, AKA a reason. But apparently this is a new concept to you lol

Rick Reilly is the definition of a joke. A hack who constantly re-uses material and isn't afraid to outright lie if it'll make his column more emphatic. I hate any reference to him that isn't along the "this guy sucks" level.

When people resort to picking apart capitalization and punctuation, that's when you know they literally have nothing else on topic and are grasping for anything. Thank you for that, now continue your deep throat of Aaron Craft and disagreeing with me without A reason haha

Predictable...figured certain jealous asswipes would chime in. Same ones as usual. No surprise. Let the haters hate...as they say.

I'll be bummed when Craft is gone, I love watching him play even with his faults. Just think....Shannon Scott running the show next year.

Young guys and newcomers better step the fuck up.

Definition of Butthurt: A person who immediately plays the "you're jealous" card because others don't hold a player in the same regard as they do.

There are a lot of good things about Craft. He plays great defense, he hustles, he has good character and is strong academically (those last two being the prototypical "student-athlete" calling cards.

He also has the ugly combination of being a limited and inconsistent offensive player AND being a guy who too often tries to do stuff above his skill level in the name of competing. Leading to his performance on that side of the ball ranging from solid to lolwut? (ie: after he came off the bench late against Michigan and his main two contributions were missing two free throws and his WTF!?!? attempt at a last-second 3).

He's a good player and I'll miss his hustle and defense, but he's not the sort of loss that a program suffers where you know they'll have their work cut out in trying to replace him or manage the same sort of success the next year. A good support guy; which makes the over-the-top love (and the "YOU CAN'T SAY NOTHING BAD ABOUT HIM EVER OR YOU SUCK!!! white-knighting thrown on him seem insane at times.

He's the kind of player John Wooden would've liked.
Lol it sounds like he was trying to write a poem. Reilly is definitely an asshole.

Reps when I get to a computer. Sums up my thoughts on Craft perfectly. Ohio State will be just fine without Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith next year.

It will be interesting, that's for sure. Even with the decent record on paper, I've been disappointed with this season. I can't think of an OSU hoops team that has pissed me off more than this one.

I got into a few discussions with my father in law about these. He thinks that Craft should have went pro last year because he is so good. But then again, he was all up in arms the browns didnt keep Peyton Hillis and built the franchise around him. I am pretty sure race plays a factor in his thinking though!

I say it often about Craft. Seems like a great kid, student, person, etc. A solid CBB player but that is it.
He played against a league rival in FB in HS....kid was a phenomenal athlete at QB.

What level is Liberty Benton? IV-V in FB and III in BB or smaller? I can only imagine how bad he probably tore shit up in HS when I consider that I've seen small school kids in my area look all-world against similar competition and not even be good enough to hack it at Division III in college.

It was against Marion Local who would have been most likely DV or DVI then, dont quite remember. He didnt play FB his senior year because of his commitment to OSU hoops

I never would have guessed that losing Thomas would have had this much of an impact on their offense. I figured a combination of Ross and Thompson improving and everyone else doing their job would have made up for his production.

Instead, virtually everyone is the same guy they were last year with all the same inconsistencies (even if Ross is finishing this year hot...just like last year) and, in ways, have regressed solely because they seem to be forcing things (Craft, Smith) instead of being able to do their work in the flow.

A couple weeks ago, I was talking with a friend and we agreed that the saddest thing is that you could make a case that Amir is the team's most improved guy from last year, solely because when he looks motivated, he can play against B1G competition and last year, he was just lost against anything better than small-conference teams.

Hes obviously a good kid, good student and the prototypical student athlete. I think the resent or dislike for him comes from him being shoved down everyones throat during every single OSU broadcast. It was like what they did with Krenzel talking about his major and how hes smart(only 10x more). Hes a great defender, but IMO is overrated by some OSU fans. While hes great on defense and hustles, its not like what hes doing has never been done before or will ever be done again.

That being said, they really need a PG for the future, Scott is there next year and I suppose will be alright as a fill in. D'angelo Russell will make his job a lot easier because for a change theyll have a go to scorer(If he plays like he has in showcases and in HS games)
