  Thought I read that Matta said he would still be in rehab come fall but hopefully he's back and ready to go.

  Indiana is full of guys 25-75 who contribute, but...well, are freshman (not just this year, but the last 3-4 years).

  I think D Russell will be the main one that can have an impact because of his scoring and he can handle the ball so I think he gets 25 minutes a game and is one of the top 3 players on the team. Bates-Diop can really score as well but I think he will be an 18 MPG guy that boosts scoring. That could also depend on if Ross leaves which would open up some minutes. They need scoring bad though and those 2 are scorers. I don't expect either to be stars but do think Russell will have a good year.

  Asked a PT friend the other day, and she said 99% of torn labrum cases are a 3 month recovery. Sling for a month, and a couple months of therapy. Let's hope there wasn't more damage in there.

  Without Russell and KBD and assuming Ross returns around 20th. Around 10th with them if they can have the type of impact I think they will. Probably a little ambitious but scoring should be vastly improved(not hard to do that from this team) and defense will suffer some but Scott and Thompson are both very good defenders. Ross leaves and don't think they have any shot at being a top 15 team. Will have to revisit this one at a later date.

  If Ross leaves, he'll be going overseas, which is still good money, but the guy barely has the ball handling skills to play high level D1 basketball. He makes Deshaun Thomas look like Curly Neal.

  I think Q may stay based on this year's draft, but his family in Mississippi is not in a real good spot, so I could see him leaving. But he's not going in the first round, which means no guaranteed money. He needs to stay unless he's willing to go overseas.

  Why? It's not like they weren't trying, they're just not very good. It's tough to win when you're 3 of 20 from 3pt range (when your opponent is 8 of 17) and get outrebounded 39-27 (14-8 offensively). Also, I read where Urban Meyer was hosting a 5* recruit last night at the game--a booing crowd sure would've impressed him, don't ya' think? :rolleyes:

  Point on. OSU didn't play that poorly last nite. Give props to UM. They hung in there, hung around and made plays when it mattered. If you had told me Ross would score what he did, and Smith getting his, I would have said OSU wins. Unfortunately not one single player other than those two stepped up offensively to knock down some shots. Which is discouraging because OSU had some good looks. Just didn't knock them down. It was a great athmosphere at the game btw. Crowd was into it, Meyer was there. It was fun except for the last 7 min or so.
  Walton was the difference in second half. His penetration killed OSU. I wish Matta would have switched and put Craft on him. Offensive rebounds for UM were huge as well. Oh well, this OSU team is what it is. They play hard, just offensively challenged.

  The No. 15 Wolverines outrebounded Ohio State 39-27 overall and 14-8 on the offensive glass. They scored 11 second-chance points and had 18 bench points.

  Our bench scored 4 points, all by Scott in 27 minutes of PT...Loving (2), McDonald (10) and Della Valle (3) played a total of 15 minutes.

  What the hell has happened to Loving and Della Valle? Both have disappeared when tOSU needs them them most................. Scott does not stop dribble penetration and tOSU got burned by dribble penetration last night.Walton made play after play down the stretch. The 3 point differential was a killer as well.To beat a good team tOSU needs to play well and hope the other team has an off night from deep.

  Ohio State played well for 25 minutes. They weren't hitting from outside, but they were penetrating the lane and playing aggressively offensively.
  
  During the final 15...pure crap. They stopped going inside and settled for jumper after jumper after jumper and got outscored by about 17 in that stretch after rebuilding their lead to 7 or 8.
  
  Tale of two games, essentially. The one where they looked like a team that could make the Sweet 16 or so and the one where they looked like a NIT first-round exit.

  Well, UM made adjustments and gave OSU perimeter looks as they were driving to the hoop easily. Why teams don't do that or play zone right out of gate vs OSU is beyond me.

  Well, Loving and Della Valle can't just run onto the court and start playing. That's my one dig on Matta's coaching, he seems to forget about guys on the bench, especially when the game is close.

  I dno't think he has forgotten them. He has used his bench more this year than possibly ever since at OSU. Last nite, I think both were in over their heads as far as matchups were concerned. Loving didn't play much, but time he was in, he burped up a quick shot, then returned it with a stupid foul. Della Valle..didn't think he could match up well defensively with UM imo. I had no issue last nite with keeping what was working. Maybe could have seen Della Valle come in when OSU was struggling to score. But on other end, as mentioned, he would have been a liability. Both have been up and down in Big10. I think Matta goes with how they do when they are in the game. Easy to look back now and be critical. But neither one played much vs Iowa or Purdue either.

  I wasn't questioning Matta's decision not to play them. I was questioning their lack of production in recent games.At this point in the season they should be contributing more than they are.

  Maybe, maybe not. Many freshman hit the wall. Loving is going to be good, a four year player. But he has limitations. Mainly his strength. Della Valle..his what he is, a shooter. And not quite as good as I thought he might be in the beginning of season. But he has his limits defensively. And he lacks strength as well. Coaches sniff out those weaknesses quickly and will exploit them. I think Matta is feeling the pressure of where this team is, and is hesitant to go with them too long based on how the game goes. Just my guess.
  Not making excuses. Just think its kind of obvious these players are going to have a difficult time vs some teams.
