reclegend22Reading 18-year-olds' Twitter accounts to see how their freshman practices have been going is never a good idea, but my heartstrings are really pulling for me to make this pick, so I am pushing all of my chips to the center of the table. A bad move, without a doubt, but maybe I'll get lucky.
Christian Wood, F, Nevada-Las Vegas
If you were to hold this kid's blueprint up to the light, you'd see the design plans for the perfect NBA hybrid. At 6'10 with the skills of a guard on the perimeter and the power to get to the lane and dunk, he is a cross between a young Channing Frye and Tracy McGrady and should do well in UNLV's run-and-gun system. Just not sure he'll be an impact player as a freshman. -

IliketurtlesMan rec I really expected you to take another player who is also a forward.

I did see him play in NJ. He's good, no doubt. I didn't like mike rice so hopefully in a new system and with new coaches he can peak for you. I just don't trust Rutgers. They're like the browns, they'll just let you down no matter what.reclegend22;1526815 wrote:Did you get to see the kid play when you were in New Jersey? I think he could break out.
And, your Eric Mika and Keith Frazier (jealous I didn't get him) picks have really got me contemplating taking a huge risk with my last pick. It could be really good, or an epic fail. Or I'll just fall back on a proven upperclassman who will provide stable numbers. Really tough decision.
And I'm pretty excited about those 2 froshbi took. Hopefully one of them don't go 1ppg, 2rpg this season, which is always the risk you take taking a freshman. -

Not sure whom you're referencing, exactly, but there were a couple of freshman forwards I zeroed in on. The others definitely are more "secure" picks than I went for, but rolling the dice is what I like to do.Iliketurtles;1526954 wrote:Man rec I really expected you to take another player who is also a forward. -

Yeah, my faith in Rutgers isn't necessarily high, but the school has produced some major scoring talents in the last decade -- Quincy Douby and Ricky Shields come to mind -- and I think Mack fits right into their mold. Time will tell.SportsAndLady;1526964 wrote:I did see him play in NJ. He's good, no doubt. I didn't like mike rice so hopefully in a new system and with new coaches he can peak for you. And agreed about freshman. I hope to god that my freshman pick doesn't lead the country in sitting this season. Definitely a risk/reward thing. Frazier, from every report I've read, seems to be on the right track, though. He's going to be given the reins early, according to Larry Brown. With Christian Wood, there are very few people talking about him (plus he's been out with a finger injury for the preseason, but has been cleared moving forward). I went in completely blind, with the hunch that he'll be the perfect guy to move into Anthony Bennett's old spot. Good luck to each of us. -
Azubuike24Hey Mulva, do any of your forwards or utility guys have guard eligibility? I have you with only 3 guards. Just FYI.
-
Azubuike24F/C D.J. Covington, Virginia Military Institute
They lost their leading scorer, and I hope with their style, this guy scores 40-45 PPG. -
Mulva
Frazier, Anderson, Young, Dinwiddie.Azubuike24;1526996 wrote:Hey Mulva, do any of your forwards or utility guys have guard eligibility? I have you with only 3 guards. Just FYI. -
Azubuike24Thanks.

Terry_TateDoes sportswiz know he's up? I know he's busy which is fine but wasn't sure if he knew it was his turn. Figured ILT or Laley could message him.

Iliketurtles

Laley23He's a C btw.
-
GOONx19I'll take LaDontae Henton, F, Providence
-
Terry_TateWow, business picked up fast. Alright, I'll make my pick, this may cost me a shot at winning this whole thing but I don't care.
HOMER PICK OF THE YEAR: Shannon Scott, G, Ohio State -
Laley23No Amir!!!
-
IliketurtlesHaha that was a C I had on my list... nice pick by him. Yeah these Center names are ridiculous but I guess that will happen when pretty much anyone decent is from Europe/Asia.
-
Terry_Tate
I really wanted an Ohio State player so debated between Amir as my second C or Shannon Scott as a utility player, and since Scott is my favorite player I decided to go with him, haha. Amir as my second center would probably have been better scoring wise, but would have hated for Scott to blow up and not have him.Laley23;1527462 wrote:No Amir!!! -
Pick6be another 6 hour before cc runner makes his pick

Laley23
Yeah, cause OC is blocked. And he is the only person in the world not living in the year 2013 with the ability to browse the internet on his phone lolPick6;1527561 wrote:be another 6 hour before cc runner makes his pick -
SportsAndLadyIt's okay I'm after him and am busy at work today I won't be able to search for available centers. I'll make my pick tonight.
