I had 3 wildcards that I was considering, but I don't see any of them going for 40+. The top guy was a senior who I think has maxed out. Decided to go with a little more upside.Azubuike24;1525269 wrote:There's a wild card pick out there, who I'm almost certain he's going to get around 40 PPG, maybe more. Wondering if Mulva is going to snag his here. -
Azubuike24I wonder if we're thinking of one of the same players. I guess we will know soon enough. Only a few WC picks left.

reclegend22Chris Obepka, C, St. John's.
Another projection pick. If he doesn't pick up his offensive production, I could be in trouble. If he does, however, even just to 6 or 7 points a night, the upside is enormous considering his dominant defensive stats. As a 3 points a night guy last season, he still eclipsed the 40-point mark per our scoring on more than one occasion. Ok, I am done trying to convince myself that this wasn't a suicidal pick. -

Fuck, there went my second center. Was debating between him and Lalanne but thought he could slide back to me since he only scored 3.9 ppg. His 4 blocks per game are huge.reclegend22;1525280 wrote:Chris Obepka, C, St. John's.

Laley23Newbill is a good pick. I do wonder how much Tim Fraziers return will hurt him though...

Azubuike24G/F James Young, Kentucky

MulvaDidn't know Obekpa was listed as a center. He'll probably post some games with around 10 boards and 8 blocks.
-
Terry_TateWow, Newbill is a really good pick. I didn't see him at all. I should be a lot better at this next year now that I'll be paying attention to all of college basketball and not to just the top teams, because I've never heard of my entire team and 80% of the other guys taken, lol.

Methinks it will. He won't go up from 36.5 minutes and he won't be dominating the ball.Laley23;1525283 wrote:Newbill is a good pick. I do wonder how much Tim Fraziers return will hurt him though... -

Better pencil in about 30-60 minutes a night checking those random-ass box scores in November and December haha. That's going to be the fun of this thing. Rooting for guys most of us wouldn't give a shit about outside of just being basketball fans. Hell, I'm sure I'll end up watching some random ESPNU and CBSCS games just because...Terry_Tate;1525286 wrote:Wow, Newbill is a really good pick. I didn't see him at all. For my final center, I had it narrowed down to Obepka and one other guy, who actually has much higher marks than the option I settled on with an all-around game. Surprised the guy I didn't pick is still on the board, to be honest.Terry_Tate;1525282 wrote:Fuck, there went my second center. As for Obepka, I did notice that he was suspended for St. John's Midnight Madness in addition to all of its exhibition contests, due to breaking some sort of team rule. But he'll he back for the season opener against Wisconsin. Here's to hoping that this isn't something that will happen again. -
MulvaOn the suspension topic, saw today that AJ Hammons is suspended for Purdue's opener. Of course, he's on my team, so nobody else will give a shit.

LOL. Not at you, at your post.Mulva;1525291 wrote:On the suspension topic, saw today that AJ Hammons is suspended for Purdue's opener. Of course, he's on my team, so nobody else will give a shit. -
Azubuike24Chane Behanan says all of these suspensions are nonsense. Like in the Bad News Bears: In Breaking Training..."LET THEM PLAY, LET THEM PLAY, LET THEM PLAY!"

I will be interested to see how he fairs. I think it will be a good pick, but I was too scared to pull the trigger. For both of us, I hope he scores 40 a night for you.Azubuike24;1525284 wrote:G/F James Young, Kentucky -

I'm banking on some early games where UK wins by 40-50 and he has some 20+, 7, 5, 3 type games. I DO think he's going to surprise people on the boards and with assists, but because there are so many guys who can score and when we get into SEC play, some teams will try to slow it down and he may not always score. He will be their 2nd best outside shooter though, so again, he's got a niche for chances that other guys may not.GOONx19;1525294 wrote:I will be interested to see how he fairs. One positive? UK is going to lead the country in free throw attempts. Now, we know Marcus Lee, Willie Cauley and to an extent, Poythress, aren't great from the stripe. The Harrison's and Young though, they will knock them down.
That's one thing we're going to see this year it foul shooting is going to account for more points and if you can knock them down, we're going to see some crazy point games because of it. -
Azubuike24Another reason I think Randle may have been worthy of the 2nd or 3rd pick (I had McDermott a clear #1 and then maybe Marcus Smart). I can see him getting the Tyler Hansbrough/Jared Sullinger treatment and going to the line a bunch. He's not an elite shooter, but should be good enough to hit 70-75% from the line which may add up in a hurry. Remember how often Terrence Jones and DeMarcus Cousins went to the line (and were somewhat frustrating when there)?

We probably had the same other guy as well I'm guessing. We'll probably find out in 3 picks if he's still available, haha.reclegend22;1525289 wrote:For my final center, I had it narrowed down to Obepka and one other guy, who actually has much higher marks than the option I settled on with an all-around game. sportswizuhrdI should have used my WC pick on one of the Grinnell boys.

Can you imagine if there was a team like that at the D-I level? That'd be insane for this game. Loyola Marymount, Billy Ball at Oklahoma and Troy University (of the mid-90s) all come to mind. Each of those squads had one or two guys who would have tore this formula up.sportswizuhrd;1525303 wrote:I should have used my WC pick on one of the Grinnell boys. -
GOONx19You're up sportswiz. I wanna go to bed.

Fantastic pick. Pretty sure I'm taking a center but he could average 30 a game this year.sportswizuhrd;1525310 wrote:Roberto Nelson - Oregon State, Guard
I'll make mine in the AM, forgot my list at the office though I'm pretty sure I know who I'm taking.
