Have you been reading Michigan boards? :RpS_razz:Midstate01;1528286 wrote:Had a going away party all day so just watched the replay espn was showing of msu vs michigan. Wow michigan is bad. Hoke is awful.
Remember when urban was in the booth at espn and he lit into osu because braxton wasn't wearing a headset? Well imagine what he would say watching michigan. Their damn head coach doesn't wear one. He has NO IDEA what is going on. He just stands there and makes faces. He's as overrated a coach as their gets. Michigan has recruited so well and especially offensive lineman (leaving osu with scraps lol) and yet their all american lineman is getting destroyed and the kids hoke recruited who were 4 and 5 stars aren't doing anything. Gardner is awful but morris is worse, way worse. -

But it won't. You still have to get in the top 4. There will always be a couple teams fighting for that spot. Just look at OSU this year. Without style points, could they be on the fence at #4?believer;1528294 wrote:Agreed. With a playoff system things like "style points" and the punishment of losing even 1 game should be minimized. -

Any team that can survive the brutal and daunting task of a playoff of the top 4 teams in the nation will certainly earn the right to be called champion.
Long overdue.
Style points will be infinitely more important for all of those 1 loss or even potentially a 2 loss team. -

Yeah, FSU is sooo good.
Morris is outplaying Winston. -

I really think Alabama loses that game. Auburns offense is ridiculously good and as we've seen, Bama can be lit up.Azubuike24;1528283 wrote:The best odds of losing right now are Alabama at Auburn and Oregon at Stanford. OSU fans need to circle both of those games if they want any hopes at a title.
As for Michigan, all I can say is wow I've had my doubts about Hoke but good lord MSU absolutely embarrassed them. -48 yards rushing? Really? I'm telling you guys if UM lost to either Akron or UConn and finished 7-5 he would probably lose his job. I agree with Midstate, guy has no clue what's going on it seems -
TiernanStanford wins on Thurs and Bama trips up at either Aubie or LSU. Bucks will still get in somehow if they go undefeated.

WebFireStanford isn't going to beat Oregon.

Style points aside, under a playoff system (assuming it started THIS year) OSU wouldn't be on the outside looking in. Now we're all wringing our hands & hoping that Alabama, Oregon, and/or FSU will stumble so the Buckeyes make the NC. Effin crazy and frustrating.Fly4Fun;1528309 wrote:Style points will be infinitely more important for all of those 1 loss or even potentially a 2 loss team.
A 4-team playoff (which will no doubt still be imperfect) is a much more equitable system of determining the NC. -
Pick6I dont care if a 1 or two loss team gets left out. Shouldn't have lost. My issue is going undefeated in a major conference and not having a chance to play for a NC.

Under the BCS that's happened once I believe (Auburn). The argument every year is always about which 1 loss team should get the shot. We'll be having the same argument for the most part under the new system.Pick6;1528336 wrote:I dont care if a 1 or two loss team gets left out. Shouldn't have lost. Agreed but still a step in the right direction. I see this as a first step to an expanded playoff system.
The mid-major conferences, for example, are eventually going to scream "what about us?". And rightfully so. Hell even the FCS has a 24-team playoff system so why shouldn't the FBS live by the same rules? Oh that's right...it's about the money.
I think an expanded playoff system would create greater fan interest throughout FBS-level conferences and generate some intriguing match-up's.
I can at least see an 8-team format after this agreement runs its course. This article written a year ago pretty much sums it up: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1409722-4-team-college-football-playoff-coming-but-8-team-playoff-in-2018-more-likely -
HereticOhio plays at Buffalo this Tuesday. Huge for the Bobcats, as a loss eliminates them from MAC championship game hopes essentially, as they'd be two behind the Bulls.
And after that, I think they're at BGSU, so that'll be a two-week period that might basically decide who wins that half of the league and gets to play NIU for the title. -

I wouldnt lock NIU in for the MAC-C game just yet. They still have to play a pretty good Ball St team.Heretic;1528346 wrote:Ohio plays at Buffalo this Tuesday. Huge for the Bobcats, as a loss eliminates them from MAC championship game hopes essentially, as they'd be two behind the Bulls.

Bulls got a decent season going at 6-2. I don't think OU will be able to get the win but I'll tune in at leastHeretic;1528346 wrote:Ohio plays at Buffalo this Tuesday. Huge for the Bobcats, as a loss eliminates them from MAC championship game hopes essentially,. -

It'll be a long shot. I'd think they could, but that CMU loss kind of sapped my enthusiasm. They have good skill players, but the defense seems to be lacking, as they're giving up points too regularly to be an actual decent team (as opposed to a MAC-decent one).Mohican00;1528372 wrote:Bulls got a decent season going at 6-2. In all fairness that CMU loss is a bit deceiving. Had Carrie not muffed the punt return with just a couple of minutes to play, Ohio would be 7-1 right now and tied with Buffalo.
Still, the Bobcats don't look as strong this year as they did in the first half of last season. Tettleton is doing fine but even he looks a lot less confident this year than last.
IF Ohio can beat Buffalo I'll get excited again. But right now the Bobcats are nowhere to be found in bowl game talk despite being bowl-eligible. Gotta beat Buffalo to get back in the hunt. -

If I remember correctly, they returned most of their skill guys but graduated a lot of their line, so I'm thinking the newer guys must be struggling to get acclimated which probably's caused some of that. I haven't gotten to see them much this year, but in the early going before I got disgusted with the Louisville game and changed the channel, it seemed like they had no faith they could protect Tettleton because they were going with the safest, most conservative sort of gameplan possible. Leading to 3-and-outs, leading to Louisville going down the field and scoring effortlessly. I mean, when you return a kick to midfield and then do three straight up-the-middle runs, that says a lot about how you felt about your team against a good opponent at that time.believer;1528386 wrote:I agree.

Yeah that set the tone early as opposed to last year when the Bobcats punched Penn State in the face right away.Heretic;1528701 wrote:If I remember correctly, they returned most of their skill guys but graduated a lot of their line, so I'm thinking the newer guys must be struggling to get acclimated which probably's caused some of that. Sometimes Solich gets way too conservative and it's frustrating. On the other hand under Solich Ohio has put a respectable product on the field.
When I was roaming College Green in the early 80's the best seasons I saw was back-to-back 6-5 records in 79 and 80.
So I can't really complain about Franky. -

lol, the best OU football moment I remember during the mid-90s when I was there was how one year, they won two straight games and got a Top 25 vote in one of the polls. I think those were their first two wins of the year. And it was well past midway through it, if I remember correctly.believer;1528714 wrote:Yeah that set the tone early as opposed to last year when the Bobcats punched Penn State in the face right away.

Number 2 was the time my friends and I went to a 1 p.m. game after starting drinking at 7 a.m. We got there in the third quarter and in the entire section of the stands we were in, there was just us and one other group of drunk college students. It looked like a crowd of a few hundred...and games were free if you had a college ID.
And number 3 was the firing of the coach during all this, Tom Hilgenberg. I remember his quote to the campus paper that he "might not have been a good coach, but I'm a good person". Just sad...
But then they got that Grobe guy from out west and he made them a contender that would have won a couple titles if not for Randy Moss, Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington at Marshall. All after I graduated. I just saw the worst of the worst... -
Mohican00They had a decent season in 2000......went 7-4, no bowl (for whatever reason), but beat Marshall at Peden and Minnesota on the road. Also was Grobe's last year before he bolted and Brian Knorr came in and led the program backwards
